Ichigo was a bit nervous as she entered the forest. She'd heard that she could catch wild Pokemon here, so she'd rushed out to give it a try. But now she was having second thoughts. Odds were that a grass-type Pokemon would be most likely to show up, and that wouldn't be good. Wingull's Water Gun wouldn't do much against a grass-type. Even her new attack wouldn't help much.
Kizu was in his Ponyta form, pushing her along. Wingull, meanwhile, was perched on Ichigo's left shoulder, watching carefully. Ichigo gulped as she took another step. What would happen out here? Would she actually be able to catch a Pokemon? All she could do here was try and wonder.

There were plenty of Pokémon around Ichigo, but they weren't revealing themselves to her. No, why should they? A trainer would just instantly run about catching them! So the Pokémon on the forest sighed as they were roused from their drowsy slumbers, and trudged slowly away as they heard the trainer approach. This was why it seemed that there were not many Pokémon.
Well, most Pokémon did this. There were some that didn't, the ones which either wanted a trainer or wanted to train with a fight. There was one, dozing in a tree just a few metres ahead. A Nincada. The ninja bug was chirping as it snored, then looked up as Ichigo past by. Hm. One of those school trainers. The Bug type leapt the whole distance to the ground, coming out of it unscathed. It shook himself, then grinned. It seemed as though the trainer was new, and so she wouldn't have many Pokémon and he'd be used more often. Yes, yes, this would be good. It crawled up to Ichigo. ~I want a battle! Please!~ it called to her, knowing her daemon would be able to translate.

Ichigo was a little surprised when a Nincada showed up. Nincada was a Bug-type and a Ground-type... that meant Wingull might have a good chance. Kizu listened to it and turned to her. "This Nincada wants to battle with you," he translated.
"Really? Well, sure. I've been looking for a wild Pokemon to battle," Ichigo answered. Wingull left her perch and faced Nincada, ready for a command. "Okay. Wingull, Water Gun!" she ordered. The familiar jet of water aimed directly at Nincada.

Nincada clicked it's pincers, rolling it's muscles as a determined smile crossed it's face. Did it have a trick up it's sleeve... or exoskeleton? The bug Pokémon watched carefully as the torrent of water gushed towards it, timing a dodge or something of the sort carefully. All the bug's concentration was on getting this right, which of course, being excelent at everything would help. An obnoxous character, too, it seemed. The Nincada, just before the Water Gun struck it's mark, shot out a sticky web from it's behind and used it to raise itself up a tree, before swinging back and shooting towards Wingull in a Scratch. This would not be an easy opponent.

"It's fast..." Ichigo noted as the Scratch connected. Wingull was just as startled as she was, apparently. Ichigo thought quickly in an attempt to come up with a plan. There had to be some way to slow it down! This would be the perfect opportunity to try out Wingull's new attack.
"Okay, Wingull, make this next shot count! Supersonic!" Wingull let out a loud screech, releasing powerful soundwaves. This could confuse the Nincada and let her make the next move before it got its bearings back, if it worked.

Nincada gasped in shock as it saw the waves of somehow visible sound cutting through the air towards it. It was still attached to the tree thanks to the web. This... could not result in anything good. It struggled to reach to the sticky web above and began to ease away the cord, but it was all too late. A strange sound washed over it's ears as it stopped it's task, a stupid grin spreading over it's blank face. It swung on the web, then laughed out loud. ~Heeheehee! Backwards and forwards! Fun, fun, fun! Fun, fun, fun with WINGULL!~ it sang, swinging wildly. Hm. Definately confused. Either that or it had somehow developed a serious mental disease in the last few seconds.

"Perfect, Wingull! This is our chance; Water Gun, now!" Ichigo was really getting into the battle. Supersonic sure was useful! She made a mental note to use it more often.
Wingull meanwhile, got ready for the shot. She moved over to the side for a better angle and launched the water. I can do this... I know I can! she thought to herself.
Kizu observed the fight carefully, noting the cleverness of the strategy. "Perfect. Now it just needs to hit!" he muttered to himself.

The confused Nincada let out a whine of anger and unfairness as the jet of water first merely tickled it's belly. It chuckled, running right into the jet. Yep, most certainly confused. The poor Nincada didn't even realise what it had done before the jet rammed him into a tree, a crack echoing about because of splintered bark where it had struck the strong material. Wow, that must have been a powerful, painful attack. Nincada stood numbly where it was, gazing open-mouthed at Wingull. How dare it betray their friendship! It sobbed, then used a Leech Life.

"Don't worry," Kizu assured. "Leech Life is naturally a weak attack, and since it's a Bug-type attack, it won't do much to a Flying-type Pokemon like Wingull."
"I already knew that, but thanks for telling me," Ichigo told him. "Wingull, try Water Gun, one more time!"
Wingull winced a bit as the Leech Life connected, feeling some of her life draining away through the blood Nincada was sucking out. She knew that one more hit would probably do it, so she fired off one more shot of water, just like she was told. Please... please hit! she silently begged.

Nincada snarled. Angry! Angry! The Nincada had been a tough opponent earlier, and it was hardly going down after just two attacks. The Bug type was, after all, a tough opponent. It was at a higher level than Wingull, therefore would take four or so attacks at the very least, not two. Nincada stuck it's toungue out at Wingull as her energy became Nincada's. The bug smiled, dancing about the Water Gun. ~It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring!~ it sang the traditional nursery rhyme, before realising it was thirsty. Opening wide to get a drink, the Bug type ended up with a mouth full of Water Gun attack. Ow. It then twirled, before attatching the sticky, hard to break web to Wingull and starting to climb it, claw ready for a Scratch.

"It's at a higher level than I expected," Ichigo muttered as the attack came at Wingull again. "Wingull, aim your Water Gun right at the web in front of Nincada!" she ordered.
Wingull did so, noticing the plan. If she aimed in front of Nincada, it could end up just walking right into it. And even if that didn't happen, the web could still break from the force of the water. That could end up disorienting it more than it already was.

Nincada noticed the water forming in Wingull's mouth. The mouth-water was nasty and hurtfull. Nincada did not like it! Nincada would move away! Now! NOW! A the thick fibers of sticky silk began to deteriate, the bug could see that it didn't have long until the nasty ow-ow-water struck. Nincada shot out a new web thread, starting to climb up that even faster, second before the older web snapped in two, falling gently to the ground. Nincada darted up the new web as quickly as possibly, soon gaining access to Wingull, forming a sort of platform beneath her. Then, the bug rolled her shoulder muscles, pulled back her arms....
... and gave Wingull a biiiiiig hug. Hm. Maybe it wouldn't have been worth using Water Gun anyway. Now, Nincada was in extremely close range, off the ground, and entirely convinced that Wingull was a long-lost friend possesed by ow-ow-water.

Eep! Wingull was a bit startled by this new turn of events. Supersonic sure made things strange. She managed to give Ichigo a pleading look that almost screamed "Help me!"
"Wingull, try another Water Gun. Now that you're right up close, it should be more effective," Ichigo tried. Wingull took aim and fired, hoping to end this extremely awkward moment soon.

Nincada heard Wingull's shrieks and cries for help as 'you're my best friend'. The confused bug grinned, hugging on tighter, not just for friendship this time as it saw how far down the ground was. Wow. It was soooo far! At least the ow-ow water wouldn't find it up here, for it seemed that the hug of love had taken Wingull back on the path of good.
Nincada's jumbled brain had thought too soon. The Water Gun broke it's hold on Wingull, and it shot to the ground, strange betrayal in it's eyes. How dare Wingull betray it? How dare she let the ow-ow water consume her soul? It didn't know, and Nincada soon felt the ground thudding against it's back. It groaned in pain, flailing weakly, then fell still as it was fainted.
Wingull gains two levels! Nincada was defeated!

"Yes! We won!" Ichigo cheered. Wingull sighed in relief; that had been incredibly weird. Kizu laughed slightly; that had been interesting, to say the least!
"Well, now's your chance. Catching it will be easy now," Kizu informed.
"Alright then" Ichigo decided, pulling out a Pokeball. She tossed it at Nincada, still pleased with her battling success.
