Nincada felt relieved to know that the Uproar didn't cause him as much pain as it had on the last turn, thanks to the move Harden. It was great! He didn't even cover his ears now, although he did wince in pain, feeling his healt trickle away. Boy, Rosie must have lungs of steel. She'd been wailing this turn for a while now, and Nincada was starting to get a little worried. He didn't have much health left, and so he was scared she would wipe out the last of it this very turn.
Thinking of something, he felt he had an idea. Running through it in his head, it sounded good. He readied himself, then shot a pin of Leech Life at the screeching kitten. This move, even if it did not cause Rosie pain, would stop her from using Uproar for a few moments, meaning less negative health for Nincada, and, if it hit, he'd get some health back, too. He watched and waited.

Lee bit her lip, feeling her fists curl into anxious balls. This was just what she'd feared! If Nincada recovered more health, he'd get the upper hand. She could tell Rosie was getting tired out; it seemed sheer stubbornness was driving her. Not only that, but the Uproar weakened with every moment that passed, and intervals for breath were longer and included a gasp or two. Well, since that was pretty much foiled by Harden anyway, she might as well give it up. Right now, her partner needed to get out of the way.
"Rosie! Jump out of the way! Then use Growl!" The cat, thankful for a change of plans, ceased her yowling and hurled her body forward, little dirt clods scattering behind her where her paws kicked the earth. She narrowly dodged the needle by a pink hair's length, releasing a sigh of relief. Facing her opponent, she smiled adorably, playfully waggling her tail at him. "Mrrrrrrow!" she purred sweetly in a Growl, letting her natural newborn cuteness take over. Lee gave a mental cheer, knowing that his attack stat should be down - now any physical moves that hit Rosie wouldn't be as powerful.[/blockquote]

ooc// It's legal to do that, but you seem to have got Fake Out muddled up with Faint Attack. Fake Out only works on the first turn of a battle.

Nincada watched. Aw, wasn't Rosie just the cutest little thing? No, he mustn't fall for it. He knew this was a Growl; he could feel his Attack stat being lowered already. Oh, no, this was not good. Not one bit good. Now he'd find it extremely difficult to get the Skitty out, and he knew perfectly well that if he did not defeat Rosie in this next turn, he would loose, for she could probably see that he was weak and would deliver a final blow. Oh, no, this was so bad.
Nincada needed to use his strongest move if he wanted the slimmest of chances. He could use Leech Life, but he didn't think he'd be able to gain enough health back now. He'd have to use Scratch. It wasn't the strongest of moves, but at least it would do something. He would go down with a bang. The Bug zipped towards little Rosie, claws at the ready to slice a clean blow before he knew he would loose the battle.

Rosie, ecstatic that her very first battle was going so well, bounced up and down a few times, twirling in a circle to finish her little dance. It was true, she could tell Nincada was getting worn out; and she was immensely proud of herself. Maybe that would teach him to be a little nicer to people! Puffing out her chest, she couldn't help but stick her tongue out at him. Nobody could defeat her! She was the invincible Rosie who had saved the king!
Lee sighed, smiling at the kitten. Even when she was gloating, she was incredibly adorable. Still, she would have to have a word with her later; a good parent made sure their child didn't grow up to be an egotistical jerk. Haha, look at her, going on about parenting! Iza shook his head, giving a chirrup of laughter. "Alright Rosie, now I want you to meet him with a Tackle! I think you can overpower him!" Yes, even if she took a little damage, she would likely come out on top - Nincada was in pretty bad shape. Releasing a battle cry, the kitten charged forward, bracing herself to deliver a powerful blow, one that may even end the battle. Adrenaline coursed through her veins, powering her on. She could already taste victory.[/blockquote]

Nincada watched as Rosie celebrated a victory she hadn't won yet. Hm, he supposed that was good thing for him. When you got big-headed about something, it would be harder to win. You'd assume too much of yourself and end up hurt. He hoped that would happen to little Rosie as he watched her charge at him. He readied himself for impact, still going forwards for the Scratch. He met Rosie, colliding. He felt his claw scratch her, but also felt her forcing him back.
Nincada was weak, very weak. He'd known he would lose, but he didn't want Rosie to become over-confident. So, when he fell back, he fought against the crushing darkness in order to speak. ~Little Rosie, you won. But remember; don't get over-confident. If you think too much of yourself, you may never win again.~ he told the Skitty, before finally relaxing into a sleep.
Nincada was defeated! Rosie gained two levels!

It was obvious to Lee who would come out on top; with Nincada's health waning, Rosie's Tackle would push through his Scratch to do the most damage. The human and daemon pair watched in anticipation as the attacks met, the pink kitten's mouth pursed in determination. And just as she suspected, after that collision, the little insect could take no more. He was defeated. Or.... Wait, was he... Talking to Rosie? She cringed; it must take an awful amount of effort to stay conscious after you just lost a battle. She turned to Iza, eyes wide with curiosity. "What's he saying?" she whispered, gaze turning back to the Pokemon pair. Her partner was sitting still, confusion plain on her face. "He says...." her daemon began, straining to catch the hushed, strained words, "...he's telling her not to get cocky because if she overestimates herself, she won't win many more battles." Lee nodded. He was right. She'd have to explain it to the Skitty gently in a way she could understand; that was definitely something important for her to realize. And then the bug let his body go limp, falling into the peaceful fainted state. Rosie remained silent for another moment, seeming to consider his words. But since they made little sense to her, she returned to her victory celebration. She'd won! And she was sure of it this time! He wasn't going to spring back to animation with another of his scary attacks because she'd beat him. Mother will be so proud! Turning to Lee, eyes alight with pride and exhilaration, she pranced forward and rubbed against her leg, an enormous purr escaping her tiny body. The young teen laughed, scooping her up and hugging her close, twirling around in a circle. "Congratulations, Rosie! You've won your very first battle! You were incredibly tough and brave, but there's something we need to talk about." She placed the now silent feline on the ground, crouching down. "What Nincada said was right. You see, you're not going to win every battle. There will be opponents you fight that are going to be stronger than you and may even beat you. You can't think that you're invincible because if you expect too much of yourself it will get harder and harder to win. Part of battling is learning from your mistakes when you lose, too. Do you understand, dear?" She looked down at her with a hopeful, encouraging smile. Now, Rosie had to really think about this. She looked off to a side, tail tip twitching thoughtfully. Finally, she returned the smile to Lee, giving a mew of agreement. "Excellent! I can tell you're going to be a very good battler in the future." She turned her attention to Nincada now, heading over to where he lay. She grimaced in indecisiveness. While she didn't like bugs much, she'd heard tales of an insect with a special ability: Shedinja, a Pokemon who took no damage from moves that weren't super effective. When Nincada evolved into a Ninjask, you were supposed to find this mysterious creature in one of your previously empty Pokeballs. Not to mention that Ninjask itself was deadly fast, able to dodge and strike without getting a scratch on its shell. She allowed herself to daydream for a moment, fantasizing up a scenario in which she used one of these Pokemon in battle. She grinned despite herself, amazed. Sure, in her private little world, everyone had a glowing blue aura and her hair was a flaming red, but that just made it all the more tempting. Iza, reading her thoughts, looked down at the scuffed up body of the insect and then up to Lee. "You know, getting to know him might help you get over your little bug problem. And besides, we need all the help we can get." She sighed, realizing he was right, then nodded and reached for an empty capsule. It was a glossy black with a gold stripe in the center and another red one closer to the top. It was a Luxury Ball, and she knew it would help the little 'mon become friends with her faster. She held out and tapped it gently to the bug's shell, then stood back to let it work its magic.[/blockquote]

ooc// I think I'll make it that you get to choose whether to have a Ninjask or Shedinja when it evolves, since it might not be fair to get a free Pokémon.
ic// The Nincada remained very still, definately out, as the Luxury Ball struck his hard shell and drew him inside. The Bug type had been unable to defend himself from being taken inside, since he wasn't even aware that the capture device was heading towards him, but inside any type of Pokéball, the Pokémon was given a chance to escape. The Nincada felt a strange feeling of admiration to Lee, but he still didn't want to be captured. He knew exactly what was happening, and proceeded to fight against it.
Nincada struggled against the walls on the inside of the Luxury Ball, fighting for his freedom. He was feeling weaker and weaker, though. So weak. He couldn't pull this off much longer. His vision grew fuzzy as he struggled, and finally he decided that perhaps it wouldn't be so bad after all. Lee seemed nice, and as he'd been in this black, comfortable Luxury Ball, she'd seemed nicer and nicer. The Bug type relaxed, allowing himself to be caught as he fell into a slumber. Nincada was now Lee's Pokémon.
Nincada was caught!

ooc// Alright, that makes sense.
ic// Lee waited anxiously as the ball wobbled back and forth, Pokemon inside struggling. This motion did not last very long, however, as it was obvious Nincada was weak and wouldn't be able to keep at it for much longer. Slowly, the device came to a stop, announcing the successful capture with a ding and a flash of the center button. Satisfied, she picked it up before it disintegrated, being sent to her PC.
Now that the battle was over, she turned her attention to the sky. The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting off its final rays of the day. Stars were beginning to cast their tiny glow on the part of sky with the least amount of light; this truly was a beautiful time of day, right before dusk where the world above was a palette of a million different colors. She exchanged a glance with Iza and he nodded. They'd better set up camp for the night before it got too dark. In one swift motion, she reached for her other Pokeballs and released her team in unison. Snark, her shiny Houndour and starter Pokemon; Queenie, the also shiny Kangaskhan who had lost her child before they met; Aspen, a Vulpix who had sadly lost her parents as well and took the maternal Normal type as her foster mother; and Shadow, the Poochyena she had rescued from that dreadful robotic Arcanine. But of course she couldn't forget little Rosie, who was already out, scampering from each of her team in excitement that she had new playmates. Lee couldn't help but smile as the kitten gave a tiny yawn, paws and tail beginning to drag. "Why don't you take a nice, long rest,"
she said warmly, returning the youngling to her ball before looking to her crew. "Time to get to work, guys!" With the help of Queenie, the tent-assembling process went by much faster than with just one pair of hands. Aspen and Shadow meandered into the forest, collecting kindling before assembling the twigs and dry grass into a small pile. Snark released a small Ember attack, setting it aflame into a toasty campfire. When it was all said and done, the team gathered around, Pokemon digging happily into bowls of Poke-food, Lee enjoying a peanut butter sandwich. Everyone talked and laughed among themselves, having a generally good time. The human, however, seemed to be off in her own world, absently gazing into the woods. He was there... somewhere. She knew he was. Ever since they met in Route One, Darkrai had tagged along with them, hiding in the shadows just out of sight. The girl gave a tiny sigh, wishing he would join them other than just when she called. Her friends needed to know they shouldn't be alarmed by his presence, and he needed to know his presence didn't alarm them. Well, she knew he always stayed away when they went to sleep to ensure he didn't cause them accidental nightmares; he would be heading off soon, so now probably wasn't the best of bonding times. Soon Lee decided to hit the hay, sprawling out inside her sleeping bag with her warm pup Snark curled on her left side and Iza, in the form of a Pachirisu, resting on her pillow. After what seemed like only a few minutes, she awoke to a chilly morning, sunlight creeping past large fluffy clouds. After packing up the campsite and wrapping a colorful scarf around her neck, she was off, daemon trotting beside her in the form of a Growlithe. (Ninja be very very lazy indeed.) The young teen always found it amusing when she could see her breath and would purposely blow little clouds just to see them float away. "I wonder if we're getting close to Saliv," Iza wondered aloud, bushy tail swishing as they walked. "Ya, I wouldn't mind sleeping in a nice, warm Pokecenter bed; it's getting too cold for camping." she admitted, thrusting her chilly hands into her pockets.[/blockquote]
