Jax glanced around warily as he approached Pine Labs. People didn't really trust him these days, not after his transformation.
Jax raised one of his hands and studied the thick, black, scaly skin on it.
"I'm going to find who did this to me," he muttered under his breath, "and make them pay. I should bring them to the attention of the police. Yes."
He stopped musing when his head banged into the door.
"Whoops," Jax said sheepishly to his Deamon, who was currently in his Dratini form, slithering alongside him.
Raising his hand, he belatedly tapped on the door. On his third tap, his hand went straight through.
"Aw, nuts!"
Gareth blinked his eyes a couple of times and said, "It seems you have not yet gotten used to your increased strength."
"You're telling me!" Jax exclaimed, his tone exasperated, as he pulled his hand out of the door.

Well, if a simple knock would get Professor Pine to answer the door, then a hand smashing clean through the door should work. Sure enough, the tall man donned in a labcoat came running at the sound of the smash. His eyes widened when he saw the gaping hole in the door. "Urm, yikes?" he said, as though unsure as to whether or not this visitor was really only a teenage. "Did you... the hole... your hand... by yourself?" he muttered, confused. Then Pine shook himself down, breathing deeply. He put on a smile, although there was hostility in his cold eyes. "No, I can see it's not your fault. Come on in, I guess." he said, swinging open the battered door.
Pine allowed Jax to step in with just his daemon for company; the Professor was using duct tape to stretch over the hole. He would have to get a new door, of course. Lucario and his other Pokémon could probably protect the lab while he was gone... Telepa, his Noctowl daemon, had never lifted her unemotional gaze from Jax. If ever he looked about to touch anything, she shrieked, ~Don't touch!~ Finally, Pine felt finished, and turned tp face Jax. "What starter would you like?" he asked.

"I am so sorry about the door," Jax said, his practically immobile face unable to show a consternated expression, although it was very clear in his tone, "It's just that my transformation was recent, and I haven't gotten used to my newfound strength yet. I'd shake you hand, but I'm not sure it's such a good idea, considering."
Jax shrugged, "Well, I'm a fan of Dragon type Pokemon, but I'm willing to start out with a Cynderquil. Or almost any other Fire-type, really. Just not Torchic. I don't want to be confused for my Pokemon."

Pine scratched his head, looking pensive. A Dragon type? Or a Fire type? Cyndaquil? He was due to have more Pokémon come in soon, but they hadn't arrived yet, and so he didn't have too many. Well, he would make do, right? He sighed. "I'm very sorry, but we're running low on Pokémon and we have no Dragon types or Cyndaquil left. They're rather rare, I'm sure you know. However, I'll show you the Fire types we do have..." he smiled, walking off to fetch the Pokéballs. Sure enough, the drawers were not the most full of things.
Professor Pine read the laybel on each of the Pokéballs, before turning to Jax. "Right, I'll show you some Pokémon. These are the Fire types I can show you; Vulpix, Growlithe, Ponyta, Slugma, Houndour and Numel. Are there any of those which you'd like, or would you prefer some other Pokémon?" he asked.

Jax shrugged, "Never mind. I'll take a look at the Vulpix, Growlithe and Houndour."
Gareth spoke, trying to explain the situation with the door, "Jax is still not used to the increased strength that his transformation has given him. He has repeatedly broken various items, including his backpack."
Jax raised a hand to the back of his head and scratched at that spot, closing his eyes in embarrassment; this was about as expressive as he could get, as his beaked face was practically immobile.

Pine smiled sympathetically to Jax. It must be nasty for him to have to deal with the emotionless beak and the sudden power and all that. He knew several Pokémorphs, and knew that some had it extremely difficult. He obediently released a Vulpix, Growlithe and Houndour.
The Vulpix purred as it emerged from the Pokéball, pleased to see a fire-human. The fox smiled up at the Blaziken 'morph, stroking his leg with a fluffy tail protectively. This Vulpix's eyes were sparkling with intelligence, and it seemed pretty tough too.
Growlithe was next. It laughed in happiness, then stood on it's hind legs and stuck it's toungue out in a goofy smile. Jolly, carefree, joking around; however, it was also attention-seeking. It moved back to all fours, touching it's nose to the floor in a little bow.
Finally, the Houndour. It barked at Growlithe and Vulpix, baring fangs. Defensive and feirsome, one not to be messed with. It eyed Jax carefully.

Jax leaned down and gently brushed a finger along the Vulpix's back.
"I like the Vulpix best," he said, "Good personality. The Growlithe is a bit too much of a goof, and the Houndour seems a little too protective."

Jax gently took the items from the Professor, and pulled back his cloak. He unzipped the backpack, and, taking great care, placed the items within it. All bar five of the Pokeballs, which he affixed to his belt beside the one for the Vulpix, who was male, and Jax decided to name Furnblaze.
"Thanks Professor," Jax said, "If I could, I would pay for the new door, but I don't think I've got enough money."
Jax inclined his head, and turned to the door, carefully turning the doorknob, but nonetheless leaving slight indents in its surface.
