Maeve stood hesitantly, One hand raised to knock on the door of the pokemon lab. Green eyes flicked between the door, her daemon and the open road. This would be her last chance to turn back, to return to her old way of life. Her last chance to continue on the path her mother had set out for her.....
A thick red braid flew through the air as Maeve shook her head vigorously. Return to that life? No Thanks. She would not return to that particular lifestyle, Not for anyone... not even her mothers memory.
"Well? Are we going to go in?" Astralon's voice pulled Maeve out of her thoughts. "In a Moment... Astra? What pokemon should we get?" The woman looked down at her daemon "I was thinking some sort of canine or Feline... Or maybe a Ralts.... possibly a shiny if the professor has any..." Astralon looked up at her "Oh? And why not one of the more traditional Coordinator starters? Like a wurmple? Or a caterpie?"
Maeve smiled "That's exactly why I don't want one. Every one has a Beautifly or a Butterfree. If I'm going to make a name for myself, I might as well start out as I mean to continue. Raising unusual and Uncommon Pokemon." Astra put a paw on Mae's leg "But what about if you decide you want one later?". "That's easy Astra. I go out and catch one. Caterpie and Wurmple are quite common after all, and they evolve quickly."
The espeon Daemon nodded. It seemed his human had put quiet a bit of thought into this. "Alright then... Anything really specific that you want?" Maeve scratched the side of her head "A vulpix I think, Or a ralts. I supposed a poochyena or a houndour would suit us as well." The daemon nodded once more "They all sound like good choices. Now lets go in and see what the professor has for us."
Mae Nodded, And Once more her hand hovered over the door. This time though, It fell, Knocking three times, Before she stood back, waiting to see if it would be opened.

The door of the lab had fared much knocking, and in some cases, pounding. But whatever it's treatment, the same thing happened to every trainer who came, and they never left alone. There was a mechanical click as someone on the other side turned the knob, and the door swung open on squeakless hinges. Professer Pine stood there, his Noctowl daemon perched on his shoulder. "Aha, a new trainer! Come in, come in!' he said, opening the door further to allow Maeve in, while he himself went to his desk, whose drawers were filled with Pokeballs containing all sorts of Pokemon that would one day be given out to new trainers like this one.
"Well then, do you have anything in mind? Or if you can't decide, I can always show you a few and you can see which one takes your fancy." asked the professor, while Telepa, his daemon, stared calmly at the new trainer and her daemon.

Maeve smiled at the professor. "I'm not really set in my choice professor. But I do know I would like a Canine or Feline Pokemon. Or a Ralts. And preferably female" Astralon pulled a face at the last bit, She hadn't told him that. He turned calm eyes on the professor and his daemon. "We were hopeing you would have something a little unusuall for us. Maeve's goal is to raise hard to find pokemon"
Maeve's green eyes roamed over the various things in the lab. They lit up when she saw the pokeballs.

"Canine or feline, huh? Well, we have plenty of those. Let's see here..." Professor Pine reviewed the Pokeballs for a few seconds before Telepa picked a few out and dropped them in his hand. Sometimes she seemed to know what to do more than he did himself. the professor opened the Pokeballs with flashes of light, already knowing what was in each one. Materializing out of the spray of red light formed a Taleo, Flarepup, and a Vulpix. Two fire-types and a grass-type.
"Well here are a few Pokemon you might like. If you want to see more choices, don't be afraid to ask."
The Taleo trotted up to Meave calmly before rubbing her head against the girl's legs and staring up at her with warm, brown eyes. She was quite friendly, and obviously she wasn't afraid of people or Pokemon.
Meanwhile, the Flarepup had jumped on the professor's desk, causing papers to fall off or move askew from their original positions. She then launched herself off the desk, stratching her wings and trying to catch some air under them. However, her wings were still too small to fly, and fell to the ground with a tumble. She was very brave and playful.
The Vulpix sat calmly and licked her paw. When the Flarepup crash-landed next to her, she seemed only a little surprised, but retained her relaxed composure.

Maeve looked over the three pokemon that the professor had sent out. She immediately discounted the Flarepup. She wanted something a little more... contained, for her first pokemon. The vulpix... was bit to self absorbed. it might be that she was simply relaxed, But Maeve would need someone who paid attention and would work hard, which that pokemon might not. The Taleo held promise, coming up to say hello proved it friendly and unafraid. But still...
Gently she crouched down and patted the wolf like pokemon's head. Yes, the Taleo would do nicely... but maybe there would be an even better fit, in one of those other pokeballs.
"Professor? Might I see some more pokemon?" Astralon had been carefully sniffing the Taleo and looked up at Maeve startled. Maeve? Are you sure? this Taleo seems like she would do nicely? One advantage of have and espeon for a daemon, was that they could talk non verbally if they needed. Yes Astra. she'd fit nicely, but what if there's a better fit? "Could you leave Taleo out as well?" She asked.

Professor Pine observed how Maeve seemed to prefer the Taleo over the other two. He wasn't surprised when she asked for more choices, therefore, and had already thought about which of his Pokemon to bring out next.
He reached back in the drawer and pulled out two more Pokeballs. Might as well add a bit of variety to the bunch, huh? He threw the Pokeballs in the air, and they opened easily, releasing the Pokemon held inside. The first was a Glameow, the other a Pylenti. Both were cats, which was one of the the things Maeve had asked for originally anyways.
The Glameow purred and watched Maeve. She seemed curious, but not a cuddly and loving as the Taleo was. It would take more for her to express a gentle side.
Meanwhile, the Pylenti had crouched down playfully, then sprung on the Taleo, claws sheathed in the general way of playfighting. Her tail wagged loosely, and the red markings on her body glowed in excitement at having something fun to do.

Maeve looked over the two new pokemon that were called out. The glameow was far to standoffish. maeve knew that the glameow was not for her, She wanted someone more cuddly and playful for her first pokemon. In that respect the next pokemon would do nicely. The Fire and Ghost kitten that appeared had immediately pounced the Taleo that stood next to Mae. While it would have the same energy problems as the Flarepup, It seemed more social, which would make it easier to train and control than the flarepup would have been.
She looked at the pair of creatures as they tussled back and forth. "What do you think Astra?" the espeon daemon looked them both over "Hard to say Mae, Their both really good pokemon. Its too bad we can't take both." He looked over at the Professor and his Daemon "can we?"
Maeve kneeling down again, this time trying to coax the ghostly cat pokemon over to her. "Here Kitty Ghosty. Come over here" While it was a hard choice, Maeve found herself leaning more and more towards the kitten. It reminded her of herself.

"Sadly, you cannot take both. After all, some trainer somewhere may want one of them," Professer Pine replied to Astra. His daemon blinked calmly. It was obviously a standoff between the Grass-type puppy and the Fire-and-Ghost-type kitten. Both would evolve into powerful Pokemon, that would serve their trainer loyally.
Meanwhile, the Pylenti kitten stopped tussling with the Taleo as Maeve coaxed her over. She practically bounced over to Mae and batted a paw at the girl's nose playfully. The Taleo, meanwhile, had quickly picked herself back up and resumed her rubbing up against Maeve, as if she thought they were best friends.

Maeve giggled when the Pylenti batted at her nose. Yes, This one was perfect. Mae gently reached out and brushed her hand down the kitten's spine. She laughed when she was rewarded with a loud purr.
She looked down at the little Taleo that was rubbing itself up against her. It was so hard to chose..... But in the end, it was the Pylenti that won her affections. The Taleo was cute, and of the two, the more likely to get a partner quickly, for she was very cute. She seemed to trust easily... a little too easily for Maeve's tastes. And Maeve had always had a thing for felines, enjoying their company and personalities more than the Slavish devotion so many canines displayed.
"I've made my choice" Carefully Maeve reached out a hand to the Pylenti "What do you say? Want to come along?"
(OOC: I feel so bad for the little Taleo now....)

Professer Pine crouched down and whisted to the Taleo, causing her to stop her constant rubbing and jump into his arms. He returned the puppy to her Pokeball and replaced it in the drawer for the next trainer to come along.
The Pylenti, meanwhile, was purring and arching her back as Maeve stroked her. The flames on her back and head were currently completely harmless, being ghost flames of course, although in battle they could gain a dangerous heat.
"It seems you've made your decision. I'll get your things then, so you can move on to the next route..." The professor opened another drawer, which was filled with bags. Each of the bags contained the same items, helpful for the journey which new trainers began. He also grabbed the Pylenti's Pokeball and handed both the bag and the ball to Maeve. "Good luck!"
Congratulations! You have recieved:

Maeve Smiled at the professor and his Noctowl daemon. "Thank you so much" she took the bags of items, and carefully stored them in the grey shoulder bag she was carrying. She looked at the pokeball for a moment, Debating with herself, Before clipping it to her belt without returning Pylenti.
"Right then! Off we go!" The woman Gave the professor a sudden hug, before motioning for her pokemon and her daemon to make their way out before her. "So.... What do you think of the name Tamala?" "We'd call you Tama for short." The question was asked as they walked out the door. An affirmative mew could just be heard as the Lab doors closed behind Enera's newest coordinator.
(OOC: Where do I find what egg moves are allowed for Pylenti?)

<ooc> Huh... the Pokedex doesn't display egg moves.. I'll have to aske Birdy about that when she gets back. Anyways, look here. Just scroll down until you see Pylenti (which, now that I look, is the second post...), the egg moves are there. I also fixed the code mess-up on my last post, you should be able to see the code for putting the items in your box now.[/color]
