Decisions for the old man.

Brain darted along the pathway through the bundles of trees. Grass and dirt being kicked up behind him as he ran. Large footprints were planted int he ground. The twenty-five year old Ranger needed his back up pokemon as well as some strength to follow with it. So, here he was, rushing through the seemingly endless forest of trees and what not.
His daemon Yori, a Shelgon was hanging on to his shoulder. Trying with all her might not to blow off of him as he zoomed along the pathway. A burst of sunshine cracked through the opening. Cleaner and more fresh grass came int view though he kicked it up out of the ground when he ran across it. The sunlight seemed so close yet so far away. He didn't run seven miles for nothing! The opening grew wider as he approached closer and closer. Relief came to him when he bolted out of the shady forest and into the glowing sunshine. A building, most likely Professor. Pines's, stood tall before him. Here he would get his first pokemon. Yes, he was twenty-five, but that wouldn't stop him what so ever of getting a pokemon.

Pine opened the door, eyeing Brain. This man seemed out of breath. He had probably ran a long way to get here. Most people would have walked... this man must have been here for his first Pokemon. A little old, yes, but everyone was welcome at Pine's. "Hello, my name is Pine. Are you here for your first Pokemon? What career are you choosing?" he asked as he stepped aside to give Brain more room to walk into the lab.

Inside, the laboratory was a mess. Pine's Noctowl-daemon was scratching hopelessly at the mess of papers and such, and looked up sadly at her human. Pine looked sad, and from somewhere in the lab came an angry roaring. "Oh, you came at a bad time. See, when trainers, coordinators, breeders and rangers send their Pokemon through the PC, this is where they go. A Rydon is on a rampage, I'm afraid. I'm waiting for it to be lured back in here so I can defeat it with my Pokemon and return it into it's Pokeball." wait- Pine had Pokemon? Wow! I wonder what kind?

Brian watched as the door cracked open revealing an old man which was Professor. Pine. "Hi, my name is Brian Ostheim and I am Ranger." He said with a smile. Yori on his shoulder giving Brian a glare. Though all she muttered into his ear was, "Idiot..."
Brian ignored and he stepped in when Pine moved aside. He stopped in the middle of the lab. This place was a disaster! He watched his Noctowl struggle with the newspaper and.

He observed more of the lab before saying anything. He then turned around to see and hear that Professor. Pine began talking. So he listened to the reasoning of Professor. Pine of how the Rhydon needed to be lured back into the lab so he could defeat it with his pokemon. Brian repeated the last fourteen words. Then, he did a math equation.

Professor Pine + Pokemon = [glow=red,2,300]Oh my![/glow]

Pine read the expression on Brain's face, and laughed. "Bet you didn't expect a scientist to have Pokemon, did you? Well, that's what I do in my free time!" he grinned, his voice raising as the footsteps grew louder. His daemon looked determined, now on his shoulder. A Pokeball was in Pine's hand.

With a loud crash, the promised Rhydon broke through the door and let out a furious bellow. Pine threw his Pokeball, yelling, "Aura Sphere!" a Lucario burst out, created a ball of energy, and flung it at Rhydon. The rampaging Pokemon slid backwards with the force, wailing in pain. It staggered, then fell to the ground. Pine grabbed a Pokeball on the table labelled 'Jame's Rhydon', and threw it at the fainted Pokemon. All was safe. Lucario nodded to Brain. "Um, sorry about that. Well, what Pokemon would you like for a starter?" Pine asked as if nothing had happened.

Brian spun around after hearing a thunderous footfall. The Rhydon had approached looking angry and fierce. Then he turned back to Professor Pine who had sent out his Lucario. Well, what do y'know, Professor Pine is a dangerous psycho maniac with pokemon that can take out fourteen bulldozers that shoot missiles. Interesting. After the sphere of aura shot from the Lucario and exploded after it hit the Rhydon, Brian watched as Professor Pine threw a pokeball straight at the Rhydon. An old man like him had a pretty good throwing arm as well. Very talented old man indeed.
When the booming bangs (Corny ) and the eruption had slowly ended in smoke from the even more demolished building Brian turned to Professor Pine who out of the blue, asked: "Well, what pokemon would you like to have a starter?". To joke around, he was going to say- "A pokemon that can kick butt like yours!". Though after making the choice of not saying that, he thought a couple moments more of one he'd really take. After thinking of pokemon, their evolution chains, and their possible moves, he made his decision. "May I take a Poliwag?" He asked. It would also be great to keep up with his party considering the pokemon he currently had.

Professor Pine nodded. "Poliwag? Sure. I'd better get your Capture Styler and some helpful items, too." he nodded to himself, gathering some things from various shelves and taking out a Pokeball from a filing cabinet, pulling off the sticker scrawled on in biro with 'Poliwag', and handing them all to Brian.

Brian recieved his Capture Styler! He is now an official Rank 1 ranger! He recieved his partner Pokemon!

Once Pine had handed Brian these items, he studied the man. He seemed a sturdy enough build... yes, this man would be able to do the mission he needed. "Listen, Brian. Five starter Pokemon went missing. I reckon three are on Route One, and the other two are on Route Two. If you could find all five, please go to the next town so they can send them back to me." he said, handing him five Pokeballs. These must belong to the missing Pokemon. They were laybelled in the same way Polywag had been, and read, 'Bellsprout', 'Machop', 'Croagunk', 'Teddiursa', and 'Lotad'.

Brian was assigned his first mission! He must catch the five missing Pokemon with his styler then return them to their Pokeballs!

With a proud grin, Brian gently took the Styler from Professor Pine and put it safely in his coat pocket. He took of pokeball and the bag of status healers as well and slipped them into his backpack. The bottles of healers clanged together as they were dropped into the bottom of the bag. Though with the pokeball, he placed it in his pocket and pat it gently. Finding this moment becoming dramatic, Brian looked up to Professor Pine.

"Thanks! I won't let you down!" He said cheerfully. Then he thought of something. Carelessly whipping out a paper off of an unorganized desk, he grabbed a dull pencil and wrote down: 'Bellsprout, Machop, Croagunk, Teddiursa, Lotad' He folded the paper up and placed it in his coat inner coat pocket with his Styler "Thanks again!" He said with a smile. Without thinking, put his two fingers up to make the 'Peace Sign' and ran out the door, with new traveling supplies and something to smile about. The beginning of a grand adventure!
