Jax paused for a moment before entering the forest that marked the beginning of the second route. "Route two," he said to Gareth and Furnblaze, "A major step on our journey." Taking a step, he lead the way into the forest, which was beginning to darken with the sunset. After a few minutes, he came upon the remnants of a campsite. "Hey, Furnblaze. You thin we should camp here, or keep going?" "I'm tired, Boss," Furnblaze replied, "Let's stop here." "Agreed," Jax said, smiling, "Let's set up camp."

"Let's set up camp." Jax's words echoed through the head of a Pokémon who lived on the campsite. They were going to sleep here? That wasn't very nice! The Pokémon growled softly, which was more a murmur for the Pokémon. It's eyes peirced through the darkness. Jax might have even been able to see them, the glowing red orb lighting up two sockets. The Pokémon watched as Jax and Furnblaze set up their stuff on it's territory. Now that was not allowed. The Pokémon emerged from the shadows, and was staring Jax in the face just a second later. ~Get... out... my... LAND!~ the Duskull screamed, howling in Jax's ear. Hm... looks like he'd have to fight Duskull off.

"Bah!" Jax yelled when the Duskull put its face in his own. He inadvertently fired a single ember as he jumped backwards. "I'm sorry, Duskull," he said, showing his empty hands, "But we need somewhere to sleep." "We are tired, and just want to rest. As soon as we are rested, we will move on," added Furnblaze, stepping up beside his trainer.

Duskull hissed as the ember shot past it. Stupid Pokémorphs. Always so unpredictable. The Ghost type was in a bad mood, and intruding half-breeds were the last thing it needed. Duskull rolled it's eyes. Or rather, the glowing orb rolled behind both sockets. The Pokémon glided back a little, suddenly appearing as pensive as one can look with a skull exoskeleton. Eventually, with a sigh, Duskull turned to Jax. It still appeared angry. ~Yeah, yeah, tired, just resting. So what? You're still intruding. And don't go on about a sob story, they only make me want to be rid of you snivelling gits all the more. It doesn't matter! Why don't you go sleep up a tree, bird boy! I need rest too, and this spot's taken! I'm not about to give it up for nothing!~ it spoke, looking a little hopefully as it flexed it's muscles, hinting that a battle might be the right way to go about it.

Jax attempted to pull a face, forgetting about his beak, and groaned. "I can no more sleep in a tree than I can fly to the moon!" he said, exasperated, "If you want a battle, you've got one. Furnblaze, I know you're tired, but you're the only one who can effectively fight a Dark and Ghost type." Furnblaze sighed, but nonetheless jumped between his trainer and growled. "Now, Furnblaze, let it make the first move," Jax said, "Then dodge around whatever attack it uses and use Ember. Forget about Tail Whip. It won't effect a Ghost-type." Furnblaze nodded.

ooc// Your Celebi could have fought. Meh, Furnblaze is fine, of course.
ic// Duskull stuck it's tongue out at Furnblaze like an immature two-year-old, swaying from side to side lazily in the air. It yawned mockingly as the Ember shot past it. It acted as though it was not worried, but in actual fact, it was extremely worried considering how close that Ember had been. Duskull liked to hate, and mock and tease. A typical Ghost type. The Pokémon itself span in a circle, stopping and stricking a pose as it shot out a powerful Night Shade attack at the Vulpix, hoping to strike the already tired fox.

Furnblaze took the low full in the face and staggered backwards, slightly dizzy. Jax attempted to wince, but failed dismally. Furnblaze shook his head, looked up, and snarled. The next Ember was even more powerful than the last. But it was poorly aimed, and missed completely. Furnblaze, now seriously annoyed, tried again.

ooc// Since Birdy is on vacation, I'll be modding this thread.
ic// The Duskull cackled and pulled a face at Furnblaze as the Vulpix's fiery attack missed, starting to practically dance in midair. ~Hehehe, you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if you tried, little fox!~ Maybe by mocking the little fox Pokemon, he could annoy it and make it lose its concentration. However, it was caught off guard when Furnblaze repeated the onslaught, which ended his mockery fairly quickly. Now mad, the Duskull Leered at Furnblaze, trying to lower his Defense, while releasing another Night Shade to hopefully deal damage to it again.

Furnblaze barely flinched as he glared back at the Duskull, taking the Leer without flinching. However, the Night Shade hit him hard, and he wobbled a bit, still weak from the battle with the Tailow. Jax growled, RRR! Cyril's no use in this situation. Confusion is a Psychic-type move, and is useless against the Dark-type Duskull. Leech seed might be useful, but that Night Shade will hit Cyril even worse than it's hitting Furnblaze. Tailow's out of the question; he's fainted. "Furnblaze! Concentrate! Put everything you've got into the next Ember. If that doesn't work, I'll call you back and use Cyril," he yelled, then clamped his beak shut. Furnblaze paused for a second, then unleashed the largest Ember yet. Breathing hard, he waited to see if it would hit.

Duskull was angry, very angry. The Vulpix still stood to fight, on his land! That wasn't very nice. In fact, it seemed that they were trying to be even more of evil super-villains than him. Steal his land and his title! That wasn't very nice of them.
Since Duskull was mentally ranting in his head about the unfairness of it all, he didn't notice when the larger Ember came at him, and he took full shock of it. Severely weakened and burned, but still standing (or floating, as it is...), the Duskull sent out another Night Shade angrily, but it passed the Vulpix harmlessly to the left. Maybe the burn had affected his eyesight?

Jax, a little surprised at the fact that the Night Shade had missed, nodded to Furnblaze. "Keep at it! Another Ember! That should get him!" Furnblaze tried, but all the came out of his mouth was a pitiful puff of flames. "All right, Furnblaze, that's enough. Come back," Jax said, realising that Furnblaze was completely worn out. The Vulpix retreated to his side, where he laid down with a sound approximating a groan. "It's your turn Cyril!" Jax yelled, throwing the pokeball. "Ribibi!" Cyril said as he emerged from the Pokeball, then spotted the Duskull. "Bi!" Yikes! "Cyril! Use Leach Seed!" Cyril blinked, then nodded, flinging seeds at the Duskull.

For a moment, what the Duskull could see of Furnblaze with his fuzzy eyesight disappeared. ~Where did you go, don't you dare run away from me, not before I've finished with you!~ Then something small, green, and floaty appeared. Duskull had never seen anything small, green, and floaty before, but he wasn't in a particularly friendly mood right now and so immediately percieved it as an enemy (which it was). Then a bunch of small items flew at him, and where they landed it felt like tiny tendrils snaked into his body, sapping his energy the way a tree saps nutrients from the ground. This was, in fact, nearly exactly what was happening. Except instead of the trees being in the ground, the tiny saplings were all over his body.
This must have something to do with that floaty green thing! the Duskull thought, and so sent a dark shockwave at what he could see of the Celebi - a Night Shade. He felt the energy draining from him, and needed to end this battle quickly before it was over, before he fainted...

Cyril squeaked in surprise as the Night Shade came at him. He shot straight up, firing a Confusion at the Duskull without his Trainer's orders. "Cyril! Don't use that!" Jax yelled, exasperated, "Confusion's Psychic Type. Duskull's part Dark-type. It won't have any effect. Use Heal Bell!" Cyril responded to the order by producing a beautiful tone, which would not do anything for the moment, but could prove useful later.

<ooc> Actually, Psychic-type moves do affect Duskulls. I was wondering about that, so I looked it up on Bulbapedia. Duskulls are pure Ghost-types as I had thought... and Psychic-type moves do a normal amount of damage to ghost-types... about the same amount that Ember would be doing to Duskull.
<ic> Pain twisted through what some might call Duskull's body, assuming he had one despite that he was a ghost. He was barely hanging on... but then the Leech Seed sapped the last of his strength, and his bright red eye dimmed as he fainted, sinking to the ground. It seemed Jaxamar was getting his camp after all.
Cyril gains one level! Furnblaze gains one level! Duskull is now catchable!

Jax nodded, "That did it. All right!" He drew out a Pokeball and sidearmed it, yelling, "Go! Pokeball!" Furnblaze and Cyril both watched expectantly as the ball collided with the Duskull and pulled it inside, fell to the ground, and began trembling. "Come on! I didn't go through all that trouble for no reward," Jax muttered, clenching his fists.
