Official start (Part 1)

[Mario Santana]

As Selena flew towards Pine Village, Mario stared at the scenery as he smiled softly to himself. ~Tell me Mario..., what type of pokemon are you seeking?~ she asked and smiled as he looked at her. "Well, I was hoping for a fire-type. Maybe a flying-type," he looked at her and smiled as they continued to fly towards Pine village.

Eventually, they arrived at Pine village as she landed on an open area of the village as Mario hopped off her back and smiled. "Well then, time to look for the lab," he told Selena and smiled. She smiled as she nodded as they walked together and talked with the locales on where the lab was. "The lab? Why didn't you say so!" an elderly lady told them as she pointed to the building that stood at the end of the village as Mario smiled. "Thank you," Mario told her as he smiled weakly and walked with Selena to the building.

~Mario..., I know that it has been ten years since you have ran away from our real family but you have to understand that I tried to do this for your own safety,~ she told him in a concerning tone as he looked at her. "Please Selena, don't remind me of that," Mario told her as he rubbed his arm, feeling the burn that was still on it from the years of his parent's torture.

He looked at the building as he just nodded softly to himself. "I promised Crystal and her family that I was going to move on. Today is when I start as a trainer. All that has happened in the past won't affect me for who I am Selena," he told her as he looked at her. ~Mario..., please don't be like that. I know that you're not trusting people as directly as you are with me and Crystal's family. But please be polite with whoever lives in the lab,~ Selena told him as he just nodded softly. He knocked on the door gently, but loud enough to let whoever lives in there hear the knocks as he looked at Selena. "Selena..., I hope that nothing goes wrong." ~Don't worry, nothing will,~ she told him as she stroked his back gently, seeing that he let out a small smile as she giggled softly to herself. ~Now then, be patient and don't be rude at whoever's opening the door,~ she told him and smiled as he nodded, waiting for the door to be opened.

ic// Professor Pine was near the door, not doing anything perticually challenging. Because of this, it was easy for him to get up and open the door fairly quickly, within about fifteen seconds of the knock. He smiled at Mario and Selena the Dragonite daemon, his own Noctowl formed one on his shoulder as usual. She cooed in greeting, as always looking quite bored and unimpressed. Pine was more animated. "Hello, and welcome to Pine Labs. I'm Professor Pine, and my daemon's Telepa. Come on in!"

He waved Mario into a comfortable looking room, the only one almost every starting trainer ever saw. Squashy sofas, a desk, pictures, and those famed filing cabinets where Mario's new Pokémon would be among a lot of other Pokéballs. It was Pine's job right now to give that to the boy and make sure he was happy with his choice before he went off. "So, do you have a Pokémon in mind?" he asked. Most trainers took some time to answer this question, since it sent doubts into their minds.

Mario looked at Pine as he just nodded. "Actually, I have four, I just need to see which one is perfect. Don't you just hate it when that happens?" Mario chuckled nervously as Selena just sighed softly to herself. ~Kid has a long way to go before showing anybody his true colors,~ she thought to herself as she just smiled softly to herself.

Mario looked at Professor Pine and sighed softly. "Well, I just need to see a shiny Vulpix, shiny Growlithe, a regular Growlithe, a Farfetch'd, and an Abra," he told Professor Pine in a serious tone, as Selena just looked at him, going with his decision. ~Like I said, long way to go,~ she told herself again as she let out a small grin.

(OOC: Whoops. really? Sorry about that ^^;...)

ooc// He won't have a shiny Growlithe since they're shiny, so the rarity gets bumped up to Rare, but the others are fine ^-^

ic// Pine nodded. Ah, yes. It always was a little confusing for trainers when faced with five different Pokémon. Or four, as it was made when he apologised with a, "Sorry, but we don't have any shiny Growlithes. Shinies are rare, so... but we have the others." he smiled, taking out four Pokéballs triumphantly. He released them, showing Mario the Pokémon inside.

The Vulpix looked like it knew it was a cute and glamourous Pokémon. It seemed like it was very vain and stuck-up, but would make a valuable team member in time and be a good battler. The Growlithe was a very typical Growlithe, happy, smiling and friendly. It yipped in greeting. Farfetch'd looked as though it would be very skilled in battle, leaping into the air and zipping quickly to hover befor Mario. Abra was... well, and Abra. It sat still, looking very ready- for what was uncertain. Which of these would Mario choose?

Mario looked at the four, figuring out which one would take. ~Mario..., you sure that you know? I can suggest one. I suggest picking wither Vulpix or Farfetch'd,~ Selena suggested to Mario as he nodded. "Thank you for suggesting and I have considered Farfetch'd and Vulpix," Mario looked at her and smiled as he looked at Professor Pine. "It's ok that you don't have a shiny Growlithe. I decided to choose Farfetch'd," he told Professor Pine and smiled as he looked at Farfetch'd as he chuckled softly and smiled.

Professor Pine smiled as Mario decided on Farfetch'd. He was actually quite pleased that he hadn't gone for the Vulpix; it seemed that far too many people picked that perticular Pokémon, which he thought was a little odd as there were plenty of others to pick from, a lot even better than the fox in battle. Still, he'd never denied a capable trainer. Mario had picked Farfetch'd, and Pine was happy to hand the bird over. He returned the others, leaving Mario's new Pokémon out.

He pressed the Flying type's Pokéball into Mario's hand with a grin, his daemon sweeping through the air to grab a drawstring bag off a shelf and drop it into the new trainer's hands, avoiding touching him of course, since it was the biggest offense ever to touch another's daemon. She returned to her human's shoulder. Pine waved to Mario. "Well, you're all set to begin your journey. Goodbye, and good luck!"
