[[ See, I did get to it in the end. ;3 ]]
Why do you want to be a Mod?
» Mainly, I want to be a Mod to keep the activity up. And as I was mentioning in Krows' thread, there are a good few possible perks in the late-night modding parties/RPing that could go on, since I often tend to be on the computer late at night along with other members. XD But primarily, I see threads that aren’t replied to and I want to post one. I don't go on any other Pokemon RP sites, only Enera, so being a mod would help curb the need to Pokemon RP! Heh heh heh. *laughs* Aside from that, though, it is true that there aren’t many people around right now to mod, so a number of threads end up being stagnant. (This especially happens during the evening, even though I see a good amount of people check in during those hours).
» Additionally, I wouldn't mind doing graphics for skins. ^-^ I don't have to do the color picking, but I can offer banners and logos and whatnot, which seems to work better anyway since other people like doing the color-choosing.
What do you offer us?
» I spend quite a lot of time puttering around here, and along with that I've been lurking for a few months now before I made my character. For example, I usually do my homework in front of the computer, so I tend to refresh every so often to see if anyone's gotten on. Since I'm around a bunch, it means I'll (generally) be able to reply more quickly. (Obviously I have days when I can't get to the computer, though). Therefore, I'd say one of the main things I can offer is activity; that is, replying in the Lab, replying as Gym Leaders, trainers, wild Pokemon, etc.
» In the graphics department, I can sprite, although it usually takes a while. I’ve never tried splicing, but if it’s needed it shouldn’t be too bad, since I can sprite from scratch. I can also make fakemon, sketch on paper and scan, and as I mentioned earlier, I could draw/make banners or logos for new skins by hand or by pasting official pictures in my art programs, which include SAI and Photoshop. I don’t know if this is possible, but if it is needed and can be done, I also don’t mind updating the Pokedex and logging new Pokemon into it. .
What is your experience?
» While I've never been admin or mod of a more advanced roleplay site like this one, I've been a mod on a few other roleplay sites over the past few years. I've been roleplaying in general for around six years now, in long and short paragraph form along with chat-scripting, and I'd say I've been roleplaying Pokemon for around four or five years. I tend to like to mod and skin rather than admin, though, because I've tried to set up a site or two and I found that I was absolutely dreadful at advertising. XD That said, I have run sites like an admin when actual admins weren't present.
Roleplaying sample;
As Krows pointed out in her application, there are times when I have to rush and when I can sit down and type a lengthier response. These are just your run-of-the-mill wild pokemon and trainer, since that’s what I would probably be modding the most. I’ll start with the hastier one first:
» Although her opponent’s attack was speedy, Yanma was faster. Her four wings beat furiously against the air around her, creating a strong humming noise as she neatly dodged the Slash attack, backing up a meter or so as she gauged her opponent’s strength. Feeling fatigue tugging at her wingtips, she knew that she would have the end the battle soon, or face fainting. Flitting around the other Pokemon, she closely observed its’ movements, using Foresight to ensure that her next attack would stay right on target. Good. Now she was ready. Tail curling with anticipation and confident that her next move would be a solid hit, Yanma’s head twitched from left to right, making sure her opponent was clearly in her view. Suddenly, she darted straight at the Pokemon in a Quick Attack, wings vibrating loudly as she lowered her head, exposing the orange-red spines at the top as she honed in on her opponent, allowing herself a grin. After all, she fully expected the attack to be dead-on.
And the one when I have more time:
» Glalie felt the breath whoosh out of him as he was snacked painfully in the side by the super-effective Rock Tomb attack, which knocked against the ice covering him and sprayed grit everywhere. One of the rocks broke against his hard armor, sending him spinning backward; he was barely able to stop himself before smashing into the wall, skidding to a halt. Dizzy, he drew a ragged breath to steady himself, which hissed as it passed through the small grooves in between his teeth. His blue eyes flickered for a moment, but as he shook off the pain and disorientation, Glalie growled to himself and glared at his opponent, gnashing his teeth threateningly as he turned to his trainer, waiting for her orders. At least the Rock Tomb hadn’t lowered his speed, although his armor was feeling a bit brittle.
» Elaina frowned, concentrating. The Graveller was a tough match for Glalie, especially with Glalie’s weakness to the Rock-type attacks. But she wasn’t about to give up, and she knew about weaknesses, too. Allowing a confident smile to cross her face, she squared her shoulders, saying, “Don’t worry, Glalie, we’re still going strong—no need to panic.” Casting about for ideas, she remembered that Glalie was fairly speedy compared to the slow but strong Graveller. “Glalie, run him about a bit and use Leer!”
» Nodding, Glalie advanced forward slightly, shaking off the smaller of the leftover rocks, his mouth stretching wider as he bared his teeth in a creepy and prominent Leer attack that stretched from side to side; the grin was able to be seen even through other the other hollows in his silver-hued armor. With the eerie smile on, Glalie floated one way and then the other, feinting to the side and making sure that he was always in the Graveller’s face, but never close enough to be attacked without being able to easily dodge away. “You got it,” called Elaina. “Now, go for an Ice Fang!"
» With a hiss, Glalie abruptly switched directions and zoomed towards the Graveller, opening his mouth wide. His previously white teeth that had stood out so much in the Leer now gleamed pale blue and sharpened to dagger-sharp glassy points. Just as he reached his opponent he put on an extra burst of speed and chomped down hard, hoping to catch Graveller right between the eyes.
[[By the way, I've got a random question; are mods allowed to switch replies without talking to each other in advance? For example, say Mod A is modding one person's board and is playing a wild pokemon; can Mod B hop in and take over the modding job, continuing to play the wild pokemon even without asking Mod A beforehand?]] [/size]
