It Karen thought that walking from her home town to the Lab was hard, this was even worse. She had been jogging at a steady pace for about an hour, with her Wynaut Allick and her Mawile Gloria leading the way. Apparently they liked this kind of thing, and it didn't help that Mr. Dead Weight was being, well, dead weight. Honestly, she could barely keep up with these two!
When the two finally stopped, Karen took this opportunity to collapse on her butt at the side of the path. A small cloud of dust poofed up from where she sat. She payed no head to her two Pokemon, who were poking around some brush. Little did she know, she was a very lucky person. Instead of fighting and feuding as most Pokemon seemed to like to do, these two had quickly became the best of buddies.
Still fatigued, she jumped slightly when Gloria landed onto her lap. She looked over to where he she had been and noticed that the knot of grass they had been poking at was shaking of its own accord, and Allick was growling at them. So, it seemed that was one of the ways these two Pokemon were different, Gloria was much more cowardly that Allick.

The knot that had been previously being poked actually contained a Bulbasaur, well-camoflauged in the long, tangled grass. Quite the rare find. He had just escaped from Pine’s Lab only a day or so ago, and was eager for adventure, but now that he was out on Route 1, he was…fairly scared. The first night away from the lab had been seriously frightening, especially with all the other Pokemon cries and the rustles in the bushes. Now here was a trainer. As the Wynaut growled at where he was, he considered for a bit—then stepped out, looking confident and even a little full of himself. ~Fight me, you pipsqueak Wynaut!~
After all, if this girl was a new trainer, the Wynaut might not be so strong. This would be the perfect opportunity to boost his strength as he set out into the world. It would be great if he could win—then he’d have something to boast about, oh yes. Stupid professors, keeping him cooped up in the lab. He’s show them! The Bulbasaur Growled, lowering his head and glaring with all the menace he could muster at the Wynaut.

Level: 5 Attacks: Splash, Charm, Encore Allick was shaken by the growl. He whined a bit, but then hardened his face and stepped foreward to meet the challenge. As he did, his shadow stretched out and merged with the Bulbasaurs. His Ability, Shadow Tag, had activated, ensureing that the other Pokemon couldn't get away. He smirked at the Bulasair, ready to meet it's challenge. ~"You're a brave one to take me on! But I will fight yo uwith everything I have in me! Prepare for battle!"~One would expect that he would launch himself at the opponeny after such strong words, but instead he tilted his head and perked up his ears. He made a soft cooing noise, like that of a baby, and wiggled him bum a little. All in all, he was trying to Charm his enemy. When Karen noticed the Bulbasaur jump out of the bushes, she jumped to her feet herself, startled by the Grass Type. Gloria was still in her arms, and she clung to the little Pokemon tightly. Gloria made a choking sound from his Trainer's tight grip, then tore himself free. Allick had spunki, but he wasn't the most addept of battler. He had to help him, in some way! Ignoreing Gloria, Karen ran closer to where the battle was at, and watched in astonishment. Was this a real Pokemon battle? She had never seen one in real life before. She watched with a blank look on her face, unsure of what to do. Sure, she knew that she to help himseome way, but she didn't know how. Plus he seemed to be on top of it.

Bulbasaur looked a little shocked when Allick snarled back, eyes widening a little as he took an involuntary step back. Then he shook himself and replied eagerly, ~And I’ll do the same!~ He winced as he watched Allick’s charm, suddenly feeling his paws a little heavier, not quite as willing to rush into battle, claws extending. Bulbasaur brushed the feeling off, but his Attack had gone down two levels nonetheless. He felt his confidence rushing back to him as he leapt forward, so he could get a better foothold on the firm ground.
While he saw the Trainer in the background, he ignored her. This Wynaut was supposed to be that Trainer’s right? She looked so shocked. As shocked as he had when Allick had first sniffed him out hiding in the grass. He had already begun to dash forward but he suddenly paused, remembering the previous fear. What am I doing? Grunting with annoyance he narrowed his eyes at Allick and sprinted forward, lowering his head in a Tackle.

Allick smirked and took the attack, not even attempting to dodge it. Taking hits was what made you stronger, not nessicarily winning the battle. seeing as he had no arms to balance himself, he was thrown backwards. He skidded against the dirt, making clouds of dusk poof up from where he landed. But as soon as he was done rolling, he hopped back up and charged into battle again.
...... Or tried to at least. In his skidding, he had wound up next to his Karen. He was concentrating so hard that he didn't notice her, so when she leaned down and snatched him up, he had no idea what was going on. He grunted slightly and struggled, but Karen held him tight and lightly pushed Gloria twords Bulbasur.
"Stop struggling! You don't even know any attack moves!" She pulled his Pokeball form her pocket and sucked him inside. She may not have known much about battling, but she knew enough to know that his effort were worthless.
Gloria grunted and shivered a bit, but looked his attaker head on. He steeled himself up in preparation for attack, determined to win for Allik.

Bulbasaur charged towards Allick, a bit confused when the Wynaut didn’t even move an inch to dodge. ~Jeepers, are you stupid or what?~ the grass-type asked self-assuredly as he stood there after the hit, watching Allick skidding backward with satisfaction. Sure, his Attack had been lowered earlier, but if his opponent wouldn’t even try to dodge, this battle was in the bag. He grinned showing small fangs as he shook his bulb a little, trying to appear more intimidating to the eager-to-fight Wynaut.
His initial smugness turned to confusion when the Wynaut’s trainer plucked him up and returned him to his Pokeball. Not realizing that the Trainer wouldn’t be able to understand, he shouted angrily, ~What, too scared to fight? Huh! Call yourself a Trainer! I’m sure glad I was never picked at the lab by a scardy-cat like you!~ (Of course, he hadn’t realized that Karen’s recalling of Allick was far more practical than cowardly). When she pushed Gloria forward, Bulbasaur understood—ah, that’s how it was, she just wanted to send in another Pokemon, for some reason. Well, he’d fight the Mawile too, that was fine. Growling eagerly, he dashed at Gloria in the same way he had charged down Allick, leaping at the Mawile in another Tackle.

Gloria smiled and wagg;ed her tail at the Growl. Molst Pokemon would find it intimidating, but he found it cute. It still had the same effect of lowering his Attack by one level, but still. He was so distracted by the Growl, that when the Bulbasaur charged he bairly had a chance to snap out of it and dodge.
The attack still hit him, even as he tried to jump out of the way. He flopped over, stunned temporarily by the attack. It had hurt him, but he was Steel Type, so the attack didn't do as much to him as it would most other Pokemon. He sat up, and looked at the Bulbasaur, then smiled widely and walked over to it calmly, arms out stretched.
When he was upon it, he tried to give it a big hug... or so it seemed. Instead, when he was upon it, he raised his arms up and tried to slam them as hard as he could on it's head. His Astonish wasn't a very powerful move, but it was better than nothing.
Karen frowned and hovered by the edge of the battle. She had no idea what to do... no idea....... ~"Give im' a command."~ The girl jumped at the voice behind her, then relaxed when she realized it was only Malik. He was resting in her pack, as usual, and was awoken by the ruckus going on. He poked his head out in just enough time to see the Bulbasaur attack Gloria, and then scoffed at Karen's lack of knowledge.
But he guessed there was really nothing she could do. The only attack Gloria knew was Astonish, so its not like Karen could order him to do something else. For now he would just watch, but he would give the Mawile orders if necessary. He knew Karen wouldn't.....

Incredulous that Gloria had actually been happy with his previous Growl, he sniffed with satisfaction when his Tackle hit a glancing blow and sent the Mawile stumbling over, using Growl again. This time he tried consciously to make the sound coming from this throat as menacing and dangerous as possible. Others weren’t supposed to laugh at a growl. They were supposed to back away in fear. Brooding on these thoughts, he only barely noticed that Gloria was coming towards him with a determined air.
The Mawile’s arms were wide like he was about to give a hug, but Bulbasaur wasn’t about to believe any of nonsense. He swiftly jumped up and attempted to scramble away, but he was too slow and the steel-hard arms thudded sharply on his bulb, knocking the wind out of him and causing him to Flinch and jump back. As he did so, he sat down hard, shaking his head from side to side kind of stupidly. It was only a few seconds until he came out of the stupor and realized what had happened, but by that time, he had missed the rest of his turn. Sourly he puffed air out of his nostrils at Gloria, determined not to let the scardey-cat Trainer and her Mawile get the better of him. After all, there was no way he’d allow himself to get captured and brought back to the lab after all that effort sneaking away.

This time Gloria heard the Growl, it wasn't so funny. He shuttered slightly, falling from his high of landing the hit. He could feel the fear build p in him, making it harder for him to do damage. After his little fright, he noticed that the other Pokemon seemed to be shuttering in a different way, as if it were flinching.
"Come on now!" Karen pointed to the Bulbasaur. She had on her brave face, feigning confidence that she didn't have. But before she could have Gloria attack, he launched himself at the Grass Pokemon, his arms once again raised above his head. When he was close enough to the Bulbasaur, he tried once again to slam his arms down on it's head.
{{I'm sorry its so short. I'm in a rush, because I have to leave soon. Again, Sorries. >.<'}}

Bulbasaur didn’t notice Gloria’s slight fear, since he himself was recovering from the flinching. However, he did recover a little faster than the Mawile, giving him time to taunt a little. ~Na hah! ‘rots a ‘ruck to you!~ He stuck out his tongue, then blanched a little when Karen pointed confidently at him. The Trainer seemed to be sure of victory—did she have some kind of plan up her sleeve? Shivering, he was knocked backward by Gloria’s second Astonish, although this time he managed to land on his feet, skidding backward a bit but shaking himself and jumping quickly back into the fray, side aching from the blow.
Well, that Mawile and his trainer might be confident now, but Bulbasaur still had one fairly good card up his ‘sleeve’—the egg move that all Lab Pokemon were bred with. He was quite sure that his was fairly powerful, although he had never actually used it before. Launching himself at Gloria, he sprayed pink petals into the air from his bulb, turning on his paw so it appeared that he was twirling in the spray of petals before thumping forward onto his forepaws and directing the Petal Dance at Gloria. If there was any time to dodge, it would be now, for Petal Dance was a powerful attack to be reckoned with—if only Bulbasaur had known about the drawback beforehand.

Gloria was, unfortunately, hit by the attack. He whined in pain, the attack doing great damage. He fell to his knees and gasp for air, the remains of the pink petals falling around him. He knew he was almost done, and didn't know if he could force himself to get up or not.
Karen, upon seeing the petals, was at first in awe. That attack was so pretty! How could it possibly do any harm! But she quickly saw for herself what it could do, when Gloria fell to the ground in pain. She put her hand over her mouth in shock, becoming self- conscious f her decision to let this battle happen.
"Co- Come on now! You can do it!" Her voice betrayed the dismay she felt. even as she tried to cheer Gloria on. But the words were not wasted on him. The words gave him the encouragement to struggle to his feet, and launch himself at the Bulbasaur one last time. He raised his arms up once more, this time determined to put all of his remaining strength into this one hit.

Bulbasaur, who was forced to continue with the attack, couldn’t move out of the way. He could only glare angrily at the Mawile who had overcome the petals, and so the Astonish pounded on his side, causing him to huff powerfully outward, twirling awkwardly backward while the Petal Dance continued to soar towards Gloria. He was kind of tired, but the Mawile looked almost dead on his feet. I can win this! Yes! I’ll defeat them! He sent another stream of petals at Gloria, to finish the attack when suddenly, the petals stopped coming from his bulb and he sat down hard, rubbing his eyes.
Out of nowhere, he rolled onto his back, giggling to himself as he turned back and forth, small claws pawing the grass. Bulbasaur seemed to have forgotten Gloria altogether, and was now dozing off in his own little world. The Petal Dance was finished, but now that the strong attack was over, Bulbasaur had become Confused.

Gloria raised his arms over his face, knowing he could not dodge the attack. The flowery petals scraped and pelted his body, leaving wide, but shallow, cuts in his metal flesh. He whimpered and knew he was about to go.... when the attack stopped. He slowly lowered his arms and peeped from behind them, readying himself for whatever tricks the Bulbasaur would pull.
To his surprise, the Grass Pokemon was on its back, laughing. No not just laughing, but in pure hysterics. He tilted his head at it, and when he finally saw that it seemed to forget about him, he took a deep breath. A good breather would do him well, but he really didn't have time. He was still in a battle.
Slowly, he walked over to the Bulbasaur and prodded it with his foot. He shrugged and then raised his arms up again, slamming them down for another Astonish.
If Gloria was shocked, Karen was mystified. Did that Pokemon just start laughing? At what? Her? She tilted her head again and pulled out an empty Pokeball. Oh yeah little Bulbasaur, Keep laughing. Then you could be in for it.....
As tempted as Karen was to chuck the Ball at it, she squeezed it in her hand instead. If she was going to try and catch it, she would let Gloria finish what Alick had started.

Bulbasaur didn’t seem to react when Gloria prodded him, continuing to roll around and snuffle in the grass. He jumped up quickly when he was hit by the Astonish, however. ~Owie!~ he complained, jutting out his jaw in what he believed was a threatening expression (but just ended up looking foolish) in Gloria’s direction. ~Oooh, you gonna pay! You gonna get eeeet!~ He drew out that last word as he backed up, then charged towards Gloria with all his might in a Tackle. However, halfway to the Mawile, the Bulbasaur seemed to stumble, flipping over in something of a somersault and Tackling…himself. He flopped onto the grass, dazed and rubbing his head with one of his claws and looking around wildly as if trying to find the one who had attacked him. ~Gggh, who just tackled me!? Where are you, I bet you’re one of Pine’s Pokemon, come to send me back, huh? Well, I’ll never go!~ the Bulbasaur ended up yelling at an innocent sprout that was growing on the side of the Route.
