Character
Name: Valen
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Pokemorph:
Appearance: Valen is six feet tall, has murkrow black hair, hazel brown eyes, cacausian skin, and is skinny. His face, although friendly, is almost always serious-looking.
In warm weather:
Valen wears a blue blazer over a gray shirt with a growlithe emblazoned on it, surrounded by reaching flames. He has camo colored, cargo pants, where he keeps everything he needs. On his feet are brown exploration boots, and his pant legs are tucked inside the tops of the boots. A silver chain attached to a pokeball shaped pocketwatch hangs down along his right side, although he keeps the watch in his right pocket.
Cold weather:
Valen wears a thermal undershirt and pants, with a red mareep-wool lined jacket and brown pants, tucked into the same boots as above. The chain, too, remains visible.
Personality: Friendly, loyal, warmhearted, and sporting a fiery temper against injustice, Valen is always looking forward to helping people and pokemon in need. He has been reading and watching the news, and hates Team Tsuasa in their entirety. He acts more often on logic than on emotions, which allows him to be clearheaded in a crisis, although it can also make him seem cold at times. Because he runs mainly on logic, he can have looser morals than others, specifically because he has an easier time explaining his actions in a logical and methodical way.
History: Valen's hometown, Tundar, lies far north on the continent of Enara. It is covered in constant snowfall, and is a year-round shelter for ice type pokemon. The temperature doesn't change much. The ground is generally covered in snow and ice, and the falling snow has been the favored toy of many an impish natured Froslass, who like to catch people unaware and give them hallucinations. Other ice types can be found nearby, the rarest sight of all is a Glaceon blending in with the snow. His village has a superstition that seeing a Glaceon will grant you good luck, and although Valen never believed it, he would always keep searching through the falling snow in hopes of seeing a Glaceon. The houses which made up the town of Tundar were not houses in the general term, but rather igloos built from the abundant snow. Valen spent his early childhood indoors, away from the biting cold, like any child born in Tundar village. At age 6, he was allowed outside for the first time, and although he was bundled up, he could still feel the frozen winds. His daemon, Sylvia, quickly learned to take the forms of pokemon resistant to the hostile temperatures, and preferred ice types. Over the next few months, Valen began exploring with his father and his Gardevoir daemon. Valen enjoyed these outings, and was able to see many ice types. His favorite, however, was by far the herd of Spheal, Sealeo, and Walreign that lived near the town, and he would laugh as Sealeo rolled Spheal on their noses.* Through repeated visits and over time, Valen became close with the herd, and couldn't wait for the next encounter. One outing, while Valen was playing with a Spheal from the herd, an injured Snorunt wandered by and, enraged from pain, attacked. The Spheal lept to his defense, and the ice types brawled until they were calmed by his father, a Pokemon Ranger, and both were treated for their wounds. The Spheal, after recieving treatment, returned to the herd, but the Snorunt hung around. It had, in it's dazed state, gotten itself lost. Valen and his father returned the lost Snorunt to it's family, to the huge relief of what seemed to be it's mother, a froslass. Although Valen seemed fine after this adventure, the same could not be said for Sylvia, as the combined shock and fear of the situation caused her to become somewhat overprotective. Having seen his father's actions, Valen decided to leave home and take a course in becoming a Ranger. Before leaving, however, he made one last visit to the herd. The Spheal that had saved him then still bore a horizontal scar on it's right side, behind it's flipper, and seemed to wear the scar proudly. Valen explained to the herd that, although he would be leaving for awhile, he would definately return to say hi someday.
After returning home, Valen recieved the silver, pokeball shaped pocket watch he constantly wears from his father as a parting gift, and headed out to the Academy. On his way, he managed to finally spot a Glaceon before it took off, melting into the surrounding snow. He has studied hard the past few years, and now faces the last year of studies before he is allowed to take the entrance exam to become a Ranger.
Career: Student (Ranger)
The Daemon
Name: Sylvia
Form (If settled): Growlithe
Gender: Female
Favourite Form/s (If not settled):
Appearance: Sylvia has a V shaped Nick in her right ear, and the fur that is usually white on a growlithe is a golden color. She is of adverage size, and has strong legs when compared to normal growlithe from walking on the snowy ground of their hometown. Like any fire type, she dislikes water in large quantities.
Personality: Sylvia is somewhat overprotective of Valen, and constantly worries for his - and therefore her own - safety. She won't hesitate to bite at people who come too close, although generally her deep growl keeps them at a safe distance. Valen oftentimes overrides her judgements, and the people he has considered 'safe' are allowed into a closer radius. Only a few people have earned her trust, and can actually touch Valen without being growled at. Sylvia acts on her emotions more often than logical thought, making her unstable at times, however she also acts as the pair's moral compass. When she is sad or displeased, she will often whine.
