Kudori's Pogermans Name: Konopi Species: Charmander Personality: Energetic and cheerful Met: Starter
This is a thread for me and Alpha Suicune to make, but anyone can read it. We came up with the idea in PE, and have used random generators to decide each other's starters. (Charmander and Electrike). Anywho...
Kudori (A variation of my real name's meaning in Japanese) yawned, stretching. Her Nintendo DS was in her hand, the game making a nasal buzzing as her last Pokémon, a Charizard, had a red HP bar. She winced as the Gym Leader's Gengar used Night Shade, causing her to lose. She glanced up at her clock, then her eyes widened in surprise. That would explain why she was so tired; the broken numbers read 10:04, an hour past her bed time. She quickly switched off the DS (she had saved her game before going into the fight against the Gym Lead), and climbed the short metal ladder into her bed, glad for the soft warmth of her sheets and pillow. She lay there, and quickly fell asleep.
Kudori's dreams were strange, filled with swirling colours and sounds. She did not remember it so well, but knew it was out of the ordinary. Normally her dreams consisted of hidden toilets, dragons eating people on a children's TV show, literally flying off a rollercoaster, shooting pink cats out of catapults and the like. They were never just colours and so on.
The thirteen-year-old yawned widely, opening her eyes and blinking in the light. It was light... she leaned over to veiw the clock underneath her bunk bed with no bottom bunk. It was only six o'clock still. Then it came back to her; it was the 24th of July! The first day of her summer holidays! She almost cheered out loud, before she noticed the posters on her way down to the ground from her bed.
Kudori's eyes widened in surprise, and she focused on breathing normally. Her posters... normally of a duckling, pair of deer, eagle, tiger and lion, were now of a Psyduck chick, two Stantler, Pidgeot, Arcanine and Luxray. But rather than being anime styled, they looked like photos, as though the fictional Pokémon were real... Kudori was pretty freaked out now.
About half an hour later, when she was dressed in jeans and a T-Shirt and looking through her other things to discover books about Pokémon, Laboratories where starters were given out and so on, Kudori heard a scratching at her bedroom door. Half of her was curious, the other worried. From what she could pick up, she was in some sort of parallel universe as the version of herself there, having finished school for good the day before. At least that was one less thing to worry about.
Opening the door with a shaking hand, Kudori gasped at what was there. A Growlithe. A real, actual Growlithe. He wagged his tail, a goofy, doggy smile on his muzzle. Kudori reached out and placed a hand on his warm fur. Real. This was... real. The dog Pokémon licked her hand and padded up to her. She embraced him, then discovered a collar around his neck. He was her family's, and his name was Flare. She stroked him, then stood up and walked out her bedroom door to investigate any further changes. She hadn't had a dog before, the closest thing to a Growlithe, but what about her fish and guinea pigs?
Flare followed her obediently, tail beating against the ground as it wagged to and fro. Kudori entered the living room. Everything was as it always had been, but the tank containing her fish was larger. Inside, rather than being Nemo and Merlin, the goldfish, were Nemo and Merlin, the Magikarp. She swallowed, the unlocked the door leading from the living room to the conservatry, then from there to the garden. A Pidgey twittered in the trees, and her guinea pigs' hutch stood beside her, as always. The cover was pulled over as it always was at night, to protect it from rain. She pulled it open...
~Bidoof! Bidoof!~ she was greeted by a Bidoof's squeals of terror. Caramel and Suky the Bidoofs were running about, before she unlocked the hutch and stroked them.
When the other members of her family had woken up, Kudori ate breakfast with them, although her dad had left for work. A conversation began as she prepared to ask them about what had happened.
"Mum, why can't I finish school now?" Matay whined.
Kudori's mum sighed. "You have to wait another year. Just one year, it'll fly by! Besides, Kudori might want to go on to Trainer's School, right?" she asked Kudori, sounding hopeful.
It was Kudori's turn to sigh as she threw a few crumbs of toast to Flare, who barked happily and swallowed them whole. "Actually, mum... I don't get this. Yesterday, I was in the real world, where Pokémon are fictional. I remember playing on a game of it! Then, when I woke up this morning, it's like being in a parallel universe where all the animals are the Pokémon equivilant!" she admitted.
Her mum looked confused. "B-but you've always been here, lived here. Pokémon have always been real. Unless... somehow, something brought you to another universe. I doubt this would happen by accident. Maybe... I don't know." she rested her head in her hands.
The next day, they had got used to the idea that Kudori had somehow swapped lives with her parallel self. She and her mum were now disscussing her future.
"Are you sure you don't want to go to Trainer's School first, you'll have your own Pokémon there, and it would be perfect if you have no memory at all of this world-" her mum was saying, but she cut her off.
"I'm certain, mum. I've always wanted to do something like this, and I'll catch on pretty quickly. I already know a lot from my games. You know, like evolution and recognision and types and items and so on." Kudori insisted.
Her mum had nothing to comeback that. "Well... I suppose a couple of your schoolfriends are becoming trainers for a living, too... the Laboratory nearby is a good place, and a few people are going to be able to start off in exactly one week's time. I'll see if I can fit you in..."
And so, in exactly a week and a day after she came to the world of Pokémon, Kudori was due to get her first Pokémon.

"Tum, tee tum... late late late te dum tumm~"
Fugari (yay japanese theme) was in a hurry.
...well. To be completely honest, that was a lie. She was quite happily meandering along the path at a reasonably fast pace, but urgency was the last thing in her mind.
Having been in this strange new world for approximately a month, she'd settled down quite happily. Her 'new' house was absent of the youngest sibling she'd had to deal with previously, and despite having to share a room with a rather elderly Luxio (the family cat, if you would) it was far better than having to share a room with a sister. After being quite happily enrolled in trainer's school (something of a crash course - apparently, she was continuing the 'other her''s lessons), it had soon became apparent she pretty much already knew everything they were talking about. She was the one always putting her hand up - 'Yes, miss, Dragon Pulse hits with a base power stat of ninety coming off the user's special attack and is one hundred percent accurate to start'; 'The ability Clear Body negates all stat changes enforced upon a Pokémon by its opponent'; 'The chance of shininess in the wild is approximately one in eight thousand one hundred and ninety-two, miss'; and so on, and so forth. Well, what could she say? 'This is all pitifully easy because I come from a world where all this is condensed down into a video game for children'? She'd be barelled off to the psychiatric ward. There had been enough difficulty explaining it to her mother (who had been no help at all, really, and refused to believe there was any difference in her daughter).
So after a short discussion with her mother, they had arranged to book her in to get a Pokémon. The girl brushed an abhorrently thick lock of brown hair out of her glasses and cast her mind back to the morning's discussion.
Let's see... no, fast forward a bit... oh, that bit's boring, no way do I want to watch that. Here we go. 'So. Big day today, honey.' Her mom gave a wide smile. 'You sure you're ready?' Fugari had swallowed a complaint about being called 'honey'. 'Of course, mom. Test me if you don't believe me.' 'Okay. Name three Pokémon with the ability Static.' 'Easy. Pikachu, Shinx and Electrike.' 'Name two physical moves with base power 120.' 'Dragon Rush and Brave Bird. Happy?' Her mother had sighed. 'Yes, I suppose so. Oh, and that reminds me.' Handing over the card she'd recieved from the lab (they wouldn't have let her in without it) with a small map on the back, she'd ruffled her daughter's hair, the latter grimacing into her cereal, before continuing, 'There's another trainer beginning at the lab today. I think it's a girl, about your age. She lives close by, actually.' Bending down conspiratorally, she'd whispered 'I've heard rumours about that she's been acting strangely. Watch yourself.' 'I will, mother.'
Ugh. It gave her cold shivers even remembering it. However nice the new family might be, they weren't her family, and she would be glad to get away.
The path flattened out a bit, and she sped up. Arms behind her and to her sides, she began running more on the balls of her feet than the heels. Shutting her eyes happily, the wind snapped at her hair as she ran. There was no problem running without her eyes open. She'd traversed this road enough times on her way to and from Trainer's School to know the route it took. A bend here, and coming up on her left would be a small cluster of trees. Every detail was ingrained into her memory. Not many people walked along here; the only person she was in danger of running into was that other person getting their first Pokém-
-THUD-
That wasn't good. Making contact with a hard object rarely was, especially if it turned out to be a person. Sprawling head over heels, Fugari quickly recalled a couple of tips she'd gleaned from a friend on how to do Aikido rolls. Tumbling swiftly as she tucked in her head, she managed to cull her momentum enough to stop in a half-crouch. Oh, yeah, and opening her eyes would be a good thing right about now.
Rubbing the dirt from her eyelids, they flickered open, and a bemused and apologetic expression spread across her face. "Uh. Er-hem. Um... sorry about that. Hah..."
(( Whee collisions. ))

The person was a girl. She grinned at Fugari as the crazy-haired girl stood up. She shook Fugari's hand before speaking. "My name's Kudori. Are you all right?" she asked, frowning as she studied Fugari's features. The girl before her looked familiar. Big hair, glasses... Kudori could swear she'd seen this girl before. Woah... yeah, she had! Back in the world she came from! This girl must be the parallel version of her best friend, Fugari! "Hey, I know you! Fugari!" she laughed. "What's that in your hand?" She looked at the card, then waved her own. It was identical.
"Hey, me too! I'm getting my first Pokémon!" Kudori exclaimed. So this was the girl Fugari's mother had said was acting oddly. Kudori walked alongside Fugari on the way to the lab. "What Pokémon are you thinking of getting? I thought about Eevee, 'cos, you know, they're so cute and all, but I'm not sure if they have them at the lab and they don't have a good moveset. So, then I thought Growlithe or Charmander. I think I'll go with Charmander 'cos they evolve into Charizard. Also, they seem easier to start with. Plus, I already have a pet Growlithe at home. Later on, maybe I can take him with me." boy, she sure was friendly. And perhaps she'd had a little too much sugar, too; she was skipping around Fugari, grinning from ear to ear.
The door to the lab was finally reached, and Kudori was at it in a flash. Her fist rapped it in quick succession, then she stood next to Fugari, waiting, bouncing up and down in excitement like a toddler.

"Um. Hi."
Now that she mentioned it... Fugari squinted hard at the person she'd run into. She looked familiar, somehow. Uh... oh, yeah! That was it! Back in her own world, she'd had a friend called Kudori who'd looked exactly like this girl! So then, this person... well, she was the parallel version of the Kudori back on earch, obviously. Fugari grinned widely. "Hey, Kudori. My mom said there was someone else getting a Pokémon today, but I'd had no idea it was you!" It would probably be a good idea to pretend she was from this world, just like Kudori. After all... the girl may be her friend, but surely there was no way that she would buy the 'travelled from a parallel universe' story.
"Pokémon... wow. I, uh, haven't actually thought about it that much." Fugari looked stumped. "I know they've got a wider range than the labs in the... labs I've heard about, but I'm pretty sure there are only common ones there. Huhn. Well. Personally, I adore Riolu, but they're really, really rare, so I don't think there's any chance of getting one here. So... hey, I know!" Her face lit up, skewing her glasses as she grinned. "Electrike! I bet they'll have an Electrike there." Her eyes watched the hyperactive Kudori as she danced from side to side. Wow, she sure was hyper.
There was the lab, up ahead. Fugari stood back as her 'new' friend rapped eagerly on it, hopping up and down. It was almost endearing to watch. "Man, you're just like the real-"
She stopped, blinking. "Uh... just like... always, Kudori!" So much for 'pretend you're from this world and remain inconspicuous'. She would just have to hope the girl hadn't noticed her slip in her exitement. After a minute, the door swung open, and a small face peered out. "Oh! You're the people here to get your starters, right? Come in!"
The door swung open, and a short girl in a long white lab coat beckoned them inside. "Yeah, uh, the Professor said you'd be here. He's just out back, he'll be along in a flash. I'm his assistant, Moko."
The young girl grinned, bouncing back on her heels. "I just need to check your cards, okay? Make sure you guys are the real you guys, and not some impostors."

Kudori's card seemed to fly into her hand. She was practically a blur for excited bouncing up and down. A large grin was pasted on her face as Moko led her and Fugari through to a room. Two large plush cream sofas stood before a long glass coffee table covered in magazines and newspapers. Posters adorned the walls, picturing legendary Pokémon and some of the world's greatest trainers who'd had their origins at this very spot. A shelf ran the length of one wall, covered in valuable vases, fossils in cases and the like. It all seemed old, and fragile. better be careful if Kudori went anywhere near there!
Luckily, the girl flung herself on one of the sofas. She sank down, then bounced up. She giggled. When Moko had left, presumably to announce to the Professor that they'd arrived, Kudori looked at Fugari. "Did you say I was just like the real Kudori? Before you changed the subject? Because you're like the real Fugari, too, back in my world. It was really weird. One day it was the summer holidays, Pokémon were fictional, and the next day I'd apparently finished school and Pokémon are real. It's so cool! I love this place! Noschoolandpokémonandit'ssoawesome!" she squealed happily. Then she stopped. "I suppose we should check out the magazines they have here." she said, looking through the pile. She eventually found a Tellitubbie one- guess they have that here, too- pulled a pencil from her backpack and began attacking a maze puzzle, brow furrowed in concentration.
Eventually, Kudori had managed to get through the maze. It took her ten minutes, however. She grinned, punching the air. "YES! Now they can eat their Tubby custard!" she yelled, throwing the magazine down. A mass of lines had been drawn over the maze leading to dead ends. Well, it had taken her ten minutes to do a maze aimed at three year olds. Yes, this must be the 'real' Kudori.
At that moment, a Moko poked her head around a door. "Hey, guys. Sorry about the wait. Bit of an incident with a Seviper and Zangoose. Anyway, come through this door, he's ready for you now." she grinned, opening the door wise. Kudori was a blur as the hyperactive girl raced through.
The Professor was muscular and tough-looking, not like you'd expect. His labcoat was dirty and torn, probably from the Seviper/Zangoose thing. He looked like he was in his mid-twenties, and had wavy brown hair, green eyes and a white smile. It was clear the way Moko looked at him that she fancied him. Kudori was grinning excitedly. Moko shut the door after them, standing beside a filing cabinet to collect whatever Pokémon the girls might request. The Professor flashed her a thankfull smile, and she turned red. He then turned to the girls. "Hello, I'm Professor Willow. I can give you your starter Pokémon. Any ideas on what you'd like?" he asked.
Kudori thought about it. Did she really want a Charmander? Like, really, really want one? She didn't really know. Well, they were pretty awesome. Why not?! She nodded. "Iwannacharmander!" she said so fast it wasn't audible.
Willow frowned. "A what? Speak slower!"
Kudori rolled her eyes. "I. Would. Like. A. Charmander. Please?" she said slowly. Which was still pretty fast in her case. She opened her mouth again, this time talking to Fugari in a manner so Willow and Moko wouldn't hear. "Do you think they have shinies here? Like, shiny Charizards are really cool." she said happily.

After handing her card in, Fugari had settled down with a sudoku puzzle, and hadn't really been paying attention as Professor Pine had come in. Now she glanced up, pen in hand. "Shining Pokémon? Hm. No, I wouldn't have thought so. After all," she paused to jot down another number, "they are extremely rare. I think that any shining Pokémon that the Professor did find would be taken for some research. To this day, people still aren't sure what causes the odd pigmentation."
What was that she said about... coming from a place where Pokémon are fictional? That sounds like... no, that would be...
Anyway, I'll ask her about it after we leave the lab. Who knows, there could be some kind of ridiculous coincidence at work here.
Professor Willow nodded, jotting down a note. "Charmander. A very popular choice, so I always keep several in stock. What about you, young lady? What sort of Pokémon would you like?" Getting politely to her feet, Fugari licked her lips indecisively. "Let's see. Do you give out sorts of Pokémon besides the regular starters? You know, like Pichu instead of Turtwig or Mudkip?" The Professor nodded in response. "We keep lots of Pokémon here to study, and we allow beginning trainers to get their hands on some of them. What did you have in mind?" Fugari had a quick think. "Electrike, please, sir." she decided. Yes, Electrike would do. They were fast, energetic, and best of all, an electric-type. Fugari was very fond of electric-types - they only had one weakness, were generally awesome, and when her friend Kudori's Charmander evolved into Charizard, well, it was obvious who would have the advantage! Plus, ever since she'd played the games she'd had a soft spot for Electrike. It had been such a surprise when her Electrike had become a Manectric on her Emerald version.
"Electrike. Yes, I might have one or two of those, and you both seem like capable young people. I'll be right back with your new prospective partners."
He strode off. Kudori hopped back onto the sofa, excitedly jiggling up and down on the plump cushions, while Fugari turned to Moko. "My friend here was wondering about shining Pokémon." She was relatively sure that 'shinies' was simply a nickname for them - in the world where Pokémon was real, they were known as shining Pokémon... probably. "Do you give them out as starters?"
Moko tucked her hands behind her head and puckered her lips in a long whistle. "Fff. I wouldn't have thought so. In my time here, I've only seen one shining Pokémon. The Professor studied it for a while, before releasing it back into the wild, like we do with most our test subjects." The young girl shrugged dismissively. "Since they're so rare, even if he did have another I really doubt he'd give it to anyone. Then again, the Professor is the only one who really knows what goes on around here. Who knows, he could have a whole bundle of shining starters ready to give out to people, so I can't give you a definite no."
The Professor was back, and almost immediately Kudori leapt up, circling eagerly around Willow. "Ooh! Ooh! Do you have them? Do you have them?" Laughing at the girl's enthusiasm, the man nodded, holding up a handfull of minimised Pokéballs. "I'll let you see the Charmanders first, okay? Then it's your friend's turn."
Placing the capsules on the ground, he picked up three, and they snapped open at the touch of a button. Three glowing white figures were released onto the tiled floor.
(( Lol. Tellytubby mazes x3
Sad thing is, I am the sort of person who would deliberately sort through the magazines to find the single most difficult sudoku puzzle ._. ))

Kudori continued to hop about, just confining it to hopping on the spot. She watched, transfixed, as she saw Pokémon being released from Pokémon for the first time. Well, with her own eyes, of course. She'd watched it on TV here. It was much cooler when it was in real life rather than cartoon. At any rate, she'd never seen a Charmander before, only back in her world, and it was very strange to see three very real lizards standing before her with no black outline.
The first Charmander to solidify from the red light looked about casually. He seemed the cool, calm and collected sort of Pokémon. He breathed a small puff of smoke from his nostrils, nodding to Kudori. He walked over to a chair. He only reached part way up the wooden polished furniture, but he leaned against it, trying to look cool. He failed. His appearance was rather cute, with large eyes and a sweet face. His personality seemed to be silent, emotionless, and a show-off.
The next Charmander was the only female out of the threesome. She grinned at Kudori, pleased to see her, a possible future trainer. She kept her distance, but seemed fairly strong as she moved effortlessly along. She seemed as though she would be good in battle, but appeared shy. Her orange scales around her cheeks were tinted pink. She was blushing, a little embarrassed. Yes, definately shy.
The final Charmander was another male. He wasn't a shiny, although his scales were a shade lighter than normal. One of his gleaming, bright eyes was emerald green, the other deep sky blue. Willow smiled. "This Charmander is a bit of an oddball. He's not normal. For one, he has those butterfly eyes, which has put people off before. Another, his grandfather or something was a shiny, so although he isn't a shiny, his scales are a little lighter. The other weirdness is his personality... well, I guess you'll see that." he said with a chuckle. Sure enough, the odd Charmander was sniffing Kudori's feet. OK, not too unusual. In a flash, he was on her shoulder, hopping to her head and down to the other side, giggling and looking excited all the way. Hyper, hyper. A perfect match in personality to Kudori.
Kudori at first felt she wanted to go with the option of the female, but the one on her head was just too cool. He was awesome! She grinned, taking him in her arms and bouncing him lightly. Seeing him laughing like a maniac, she shook him more. Oddly enough, he liked it. She grinned at Willow. "I am so getting this one!" she squealed. Willow handed her his Pokéball and some items, then turned to Fugari. He returned the two other Charmander and released a single new Pokéball, forming a small dog's outline on the floor...

Fugari watched with a wide grin as Kudori chose her Pokémon, before laying down her sudoku and watching as the Professor got her new partner ready.
Just the one? she thought curiously, as the light peeled away from the dog Pokémon. It's only to be expected. After all, electric-type Pokémon are famous for being some of the most finicky and difficult-to-train Pokémon in the whole world. I can't imagine many beginners would come wanting one. It looks so... strange, in three dimensions. Still not quite like a real animal, but... amazing. That's what it is.
The Electrike opened its eyes, blinking dozily. It seemed like it hadn't been out of its Pokéball for a while. Sniffing the ground, it got to its feet, stretching expansively before yawning and showcasing an awful lot of teeth. Fugari couldn't see the colours green or red, but the Electrike's coat definitely wasn't blue, so it was normal colouration. It seemed pretty cute, really. She met Willow's eyes, and he gave her a glance that said you sure? Well, the headmaster at the trainer's school (after much begging) had given her a crash-course on how to handle electric-types, and she already knew most of the fundementals anyway. Besides, how bad could one little itty bitty Electrike be?
It regarded her with a kind of nonchalant curiosity. Taking a break from stroking her new, hyperactive partner, Kudori watched as Fugari bent down happily to pat it -
And got five hundred volts of electricity coursing around her system.
Hand twitching, Fugari tried to stop a pained expression passing across her face, and instead smiled, though it looked a lot more like a forced grimace. "S-so that's how it's going to be?" The Electrike made a small 'chuh' noise, flicked its head up in distaste and began to lick its flank.
Getting up stiffly, Fugari winced as sparks danced down her spine. She licked her fingers and pinched a strand of fried hair. Professor Willow seemed a little worried. "He's difficult like that. I'm sure you've heard about the nature of electric-types? ...yes. Well, um, we have plenty of other nice starters available. Perhaps you'd like one of the remaining Charmanders? Fire-types tend to be very docile..." "No, sir." Fugari bent her neck to the side, giving a happy sigh as it cracked and a few thin bolts lanced out of her skin. "I'll be fine with this one, sir. After all, I really really like electric-types, and I didn't come expecting a walk in the park. Besides, I'm naturally resistant to electric shocks. They don't hurt as much as they do to a normal person, hence why I'm not currently writhing on the floor in agony." Another forced smile crossed her lips. "Besides, I'm sure we'll get along just... peachy."
The Electrike narrowed its eyes at her, unsure of whether to give her another shock or not. She grinned back, her own eyes slits. Daggers would have passed between them had not the Professor intervened by returning the Electrike to it's Pokéball. Almost reluctantly, he gave it to Fugari, along with a bag containing a couple of items.
"Right. Before you each go, I need a picture to go on your digital license. That'll then scan in to your Pokédex, which in turn will send the data to the police vault. The 'dex will also keep track of your money, plus it's got a built-in PDS and Pokénav. If you could please come over here, I need you to sign this..."
A few forms and a photograph seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. Kudori's picture was taken with her new partner. Fugari's was taken without, but the girl was able to give a genuine smile despite her half burnt-off eyebrows. Pokédexes were given with much ceremony, and finally it was time to leave.
"Thanks for everything, sir!" With her Charmander perched on her shoulders, Kudori waved enthusiastically. Moko stood up on tiptoes, flailing both arms around. "Good luck on your journey! You'll need it!"
Eventually, the door swung shut, and the lab began to disappear in a heat haze. Fugari waited until the lab was out of sight before doubling up, hands clutched to her head. "Ow ow ow ow OW! Augh! That shock really hurt. Stupid Electrike!"
Back in the lab, the Professor was re-arranging the sofa cushions. He liked everything to be neat and tidy, and as he picked up two magazines, he looked at them curiously. What was this? 'Tellytubby fun show?' Eh? And this sudoku book... aww. He'd been saving the puzzle at the end to do personally. Oh, well. He returned the items to their shelf, and flicked the light off before retreating back into his personal study.
(( Long. x3
Would you like me to explain the mechanics of why you can get shocks in excess of thousands of volts and yet remain unharmed (though in relative pain)? I don't think science lessons covered it when we did electricity and magnetism in year 8. ))

ooc// You explained in school.
ic// Charmander chose that moment to leap at Fugari. The Pokémon's orange scales were a blur, and Fugari felt a very, very, very hot thing on her arm. She cried out, noticing that Charmander's tail had set her sleeve on fire. "Ah! Dang it! NONONONONONO! HOTHOTHOTHOTHOT!" she screeched, before quietening down as Charmander lowered his tail's temperature and Fugari patted out the fire. Kudori looked into Charmander's blue and green eyes. "Is something wrong? Oo! Oooooo! I know! I wanna give you a name!" she said, passing the barrier between the town and the first route. Charmander nodded eagerly. "OK... Firebutt? RAWR? Charry? Strawberry Shortcake? Konopi?" she asked. Charmander shook his head at all of them, but nodded on Konopi. It sounded nice.
Konopi stood on Kudori's shoulder. She girl decided to make conversation with Fugari. "So, are you from my world? You know, like fictional Pokémon? Here, school's only compulsary 'till your thirteen. It's so cool and wonderful. Back where I come from, you don't finish 'till you're sixteen or eighteen. Then there's university. Here, it's great. Oh, and if you don't believe me, I can prove it. You have two sisters, a dog, a cat, two guinea pigs, you like learning 'input', you're really smart, and you're red-green colour blind." she said.
However, just then, Kudori heard a ruslting sound. Konopi heard it too. The girl walked over to investigate, pulling back the bushes. A face filled her vision. A smiley, Pokémon face on a hexagonal body. She screamed, running back to Fugari. "Oh... oh, no no no please no. Fugari... you how I'm sorta scared of bees..." she trailed off, eyes flickering to the ruslting bushes.
~COMBEEEEEE!~ the Combee burst from the bushes. Kudori gave a whimper, rushing behind Fugari. "It was bad enough that they were teeny!" she wailed, staring at the huge bug. The Combee looked a little confused, before turning to Fugari. She moved towards the girl and her Electrike, growling offensively. Kudori slowly moved away.
Kudori, however, was too busy being scared of Combee to notice what was behind her. A Pokémon landed on her head. ~Pid! Geeeeeey.~ the Pidgey cooed slowly. Kudori giggled.

Wincing, Fugari rolled up her charred sleeve to examine the large burn she'd sustained. It wasn't that painful... oh, heck, who was she kidding. It damned well hurt. Making a tiny whimpering noise in the back of her throat, the girl looked around. Were there any Rawst berries around? They produced a healing effect if you smeared them on a burn. She didn't hold anything against the newly-named Konopi, of course not, he hadn't meant to burn her, but...
Kudori was talking again, though. Fugari listened almost tentatively as the girl recounted almost exactly what she'd been hoping but not expecting to hear. So it WAS the real Kudori, after all! Fugari visibly relaxed. "Yeah. I just, like... came here, one night, and everything was different. It was about a month ago, maybe? How long have you been here?"
Their conversation was abruptly cut off, though, as something burst from the bushes. Fugari grabbed her Pokédex immediately, like any good trainer would, and scanned it, though she already had a vague idea of what it was. Combee, the tiny bee Pokémon. Combee is formed from a trio of Pokémon, joined together at birth. It collects nectar from flowers to take back to its hive. Only females can evolve into Vespiquen.
Yep, that was a Combee, alright. A good match up against Electrike, and... reaching into her pocket, Fugari pulled a pair of thick rubber kitchen gloves out, and put them on before releasing Electrike. This would give her a chance to test out some of her training strategies. Seeming rather disgruntled to be called out, Electrike's fur buzzed with static. Fugari bent down to it, displaying her gloves. "These will stop any shocks you try to give me. They're almost 100% insulation, so don't try anything. Now I want you to do what I say. If you do, you get rewarded. Simple as that."
Electrike sniffed her gloves, before tossing its head up haughtily. Fugari grinned, and stepped back. Just as expected. "Fine, then. If you won't do what I ask, then you'll just have to suffer the consequences."
The dog's confused expression lasted for only a second before Combee's body rammed into its side. Sharp teeth dug into Electrike's fur, and it barked in pain as the Combee flew away before it could retaliate. That had been the move Bug Bite, and it had let Fugari get a closer look at the Combee. Small, off-coloured blotch on the forehead of the lower Combee. So 'it' is actually a 'she'. That's pretty lucky, there's about a one in eight chance of finding a female Combee in the wild.
Snarling, Electrike narrowed its eyes at the Combee. Fugari's expression was nothing but smugness. "See, I told you so. Now! Attack it with a Tackle attack!" Growling at her, Electrike stubbornly sat down, refusing to do anything. "Suit yourself. But you know what'll happen, don't you?" For a moment, Electrike lifted a paw, but then placed it firmly down again. No. It was NOT going to do what this human said. Never.
Pidgey gently pecked at Kudori's head, chirping excitedly. < Pidgoo, prroo. > Grabbing a piece of hair, it tugged it until it came loose. How interesting. Not fur, not feathers, but... grass? Was this grass growing out of this strange Pokémon's head? Fluttering to the ground, the Pidgey began to pull apart the strands of hair it had taken.
"Heyyyy!" Kudori whined. "That wasn't nice! Right, Charmander, use... uh... something!"

ooc// Don't Combee have to wait 'til level 13 to use Bug Bite?
ic// Kudori's eyes narrowed as she glared at the Flying type. Konopi was looking at her in mild confusion. What was it she wanted him to do, exactly? 'Something' wasn't exactly enough to get by on, now, was it? What sort of trainer ordered their Pokémon to do 'something'? It was all very silly. He coughed loudly, drawing his trainer's attension. ~Chaar?~ he said, shrugging. Kudori blinked slowly, then realized that he didn't know what to do. She gave him a smile. "Konopi, let's give this Pidgey a battle! Yeah! Use... Scratch?" she said, trying to recall waaaay back on Firered when she'd first started out with a Charmander. They knew Scratch then, right?
It turned out that yes, yes they did know Scratch. Konopi did, at any rate. The lizard lunged for Pidgey, targeting it with his strong claws. The Pidgey extended it's wings, but before it could take off into the air, Konopi had slashed it. He giggled. That had been pretty cool. He was in a battle, an actual, real life battle! His blue and green eyes shone in joy, perhaps a little too early; he was struck from behind by Pidgey, who had managed to get into the air. He snarled, spinning around to face his opponent. The battle was on. "Scratch again, Konopi!" called Kudori, getting the hang of this gradually. It was quite different to the games.
Meanwhile, Combee couldn't believe her luck. An Electrike that refused to fight. Perhaps it liked to be dominant, and having a trainer wasn't letting it be that. Well, whatever, to Combee, it meant easy levels. Zooming forwards, she attempted another Bug Bite.

(( We don't seem to be reading anything into levels yet, so I just assumed it could have the only offensive move Combee actually learn. ))
Pidgey fluttered backwards, but wasn't fast enough to dodge. It didn't seem like the most intelligent of creatures, and it dropped to the ground. Picking itself up, it tilted its head at the Charmander. What was it... oh, yes! A battle! Whee. Dashing fowards in a surprising turn of speed, Pidgey's beak glowed white - a Peck attack.
Electrike blocked its ears to Fugari's command of "dodge it, Electrike!" and was therefore hit rather heavily in the flank by the attack. Shying backwards, the small dog growled and lowered its head, about to pull off an attack. "Tackle attack, Electrike. Stop being so thick-headed." So, naturally, the canine turned on her, snarling. Then it sat promptly down -
- only to recive another nasty Bug Bite attack to the head. Fugari put her hands on her hips, watching as Electrike staggered back. "It's no good if you faint. I won't be able to catch this Combee. Come on, Tackle attack. The power of Christ compels ye!" A little sense appeared to have leeched into Electrike's brain. Narrowing its eyes, it dashed forwards (finally) in its commanded Tackle.

Combee was struck by the Tackle, so surprised that Electrike was moving to move herself. Wincing as the force caused her to drop low to the ground, she regained her height, three faces frowning. Huh. She had been hoping that every time the trainer ordered an attack (basically, every turn), Electrike would completely ignore her. Oh, well. At least she'd still dealt the most damage. She moved in again, aiming for another Bug Bite.
Kudori watched Pidgey with interest. Oooh, that was a Peck, right? A Peck attack wasn't the strongest move ever, but it wasn't the weakest, either. A Flying type move, too, but that didn't give Pidgey any type advantages or disadvantages to Konopi. "Konopi, jump and Scratch!" she called.
A determined smile crossed Konopi's face, the lizard preparing himself to attack. Unfortunately, he took too long trying to look tough and cool, and ended up being struck sharly by the Peck. Grumbling in complaint, he leapt up as Pidgey moved away, hoping to be able to strike it by surprise, from above, with a Scratch.

Fugari grinned authoritavely, pushing her glasses up her nose. "Let's see a quick dodge, Electrike, followed by a Thunder Wave to the face!" Nimbly darting out of the way of Combee's attack, Electrike scowled as a small shock went through his body, allowing it to branch out into the air and travel towards the Combee. Surprised, the bug-type did a quick one-eighty, only to recieve the jolt of electricity. It didn't hurt too much, but the Combee dropped rapidly, not able to move its wings as well. Effectively grounded, it lay on the ground, twitching and giving off an angry buzzing noise. Fugari laughed. "Ah-ha-ha-hah! See, I told you to listen to me, Electrike. You've been very, very naughty." Electrike turned on her and snapped at her fingers, but she quickly yanked them up out of the way, pouting. "Aren't you going to listen to me? Come on, I told you something good will happen if you listen. Hit it with another Tackle before it gets back up."
Snarling, Electrike took a few steps forwards, but his curiosity was piqued. Turning, he rushed forwards again. For now it seemed like he would have to co-operate with this human... even though he didn't really want to.
The Scratch hit, and the Pidgey landed, blinking owlishly. It certainly wasn't the most intelligent of Pidgeys, as the surprise attack had taken it completely by... well, surprise. Cooing softly, it examined where its wing had been hurt, before running forwards. Nothing to do but try another Peck attack.

Kudori thought Pidgey was pretty awesome. It was just so cool! It had taken the attack easily, only blinking in response... that was also a bit bad, since it meant that she'd probably have to hit it pretty hard before it did anything. Well, she could do that, right? Konopi was a tough little lizard, and she could get him to win! Ooh, but that Peck wouldn't be the way to win. "Growl, then Scratch!" she called, hoping she'd get her timing right there.
Konopi focused his mismatching eyes on the Pidgey, aiming to use the Growl before the Peck and the Scratch just after. He hoped he'd get the timing of it right as well. He opened his mouth and let out an adorable sound, which seemed to have worked since he felt a fair bit less pain when the beak struck him. It still smarted, but he refused to focus on it. Instead, he lashed out with a claw, managing to score a nice slash on the bird before it could escape. Perfecto!
Combee was immobile for the Tackle, and the bee's whole form was lifted into the air with the force of it. It managed to let out a pained cry as it fell, then decided it could use this even though it couldn't manage an offensive move. A wonderful smell infected the area; Sweet Scent.
