Off to a Bumpy and Rather Paranoid Start

Jayden made his way through the halls to the headmaster’s office, earning him looks of mixed emotions. Most showed fear, not surprising to the Zangoose Pokemorph. He was conscious of the blood-red markings on his face, the giant claws, the long furry ears, and the large white tail held barely above the ground. Others, perhaps because they knew of his kind or had seen him before in the halls, pointed and laughed at the cute Skitty dæmon riding on his shoulder. Tameya just stuck her tongue out at them and then, as if unable to control her own bubbly personality, laughed at her own joke. That ended the laughter which only turned into confused stares as the little pink kitten barely hung on to her human’s shoulder as she chuckled. Finally, they turned into a deserted hallway and saw the headmaster’s room at the end of it.

I dunno, Tameya. What if this is all a trap? What if- Jayden broke off as Tameya swung her tail in front of his mouth. Calm down, we escaped from all that, remember? You need to stop being paranoid. Put a little more heart in the world! Tameya said reassuringly. I’m not being paranoid, I’m just- He protested, but he didn’t seem to have much luck finishing sentences today. Tameya had leaped off his shoulder and, mid-leap, had turned into a Notched-Ear Pichu, then grabbed the handle as she fell, causing the door knob to turn and the door to open slightly. Jayden wasn’t going to keep arguing with her while the person they were arguing about could hear, so he put Tameya on his shoulder once more and opened the door a little more, taking a few careful steps in.

The Headmaster, Mr Rogers, poked his head around the door. He didn't even give Jayden a good stare, he just greeted him like any ordinary person. That must make a nice change, no? Mr Rogers had seen many Pokémorphs in these halls before, and they often became something great. He smiled warmly a very welcoming smile to the new boy. He knew how nerve-wracking the first day and first Pokémon is; he had even had someone wet themselves, once. He gave a slight chuckle at the memory. That person had left after a year.

"Good day. I am Mr Rogers, and the person who told you to come here was correct. I'm the Headmaster of Suitay Academy, and I gladly give out starter Pokémon to new trainers. Here, come on in." he greeted, smiling as he opened the door wider to accomodate Jayden, waving him in. Inside the office, it was a little plain, but still rather nice. There was a desk in the centre of a wall, with a chair in front for when people had to be told off or something, a row of bookshelves along the opposite wall, and numerous plants and some posters showing Pokémon Events along the wall. Mr Rogers smiled. "Now, what Pokémon takes your fancy?" he asked.

Jayden was surprised at how calmly this man, Mr. Rogers, took in his altered appearance. On his shoulder, Tameya muttured quietly, so Mr. Rogers couldn't hear, Told you we could trust him. Jayden stepped forward into the office, taking in his surroudings silently. And then, of course, came the critical question: What kind of Pokemon do you want? Jayden had prepared his answer; or really, he and Tam had argued over it at 2:00 that morning, both of them having put off their friendly debate on this topic until it was nearly the last minute. Jayden was adamant on getting some really powerful-looking Pokemon, like Scyther or Absol. Tameya, in the meantime, had vouched for her part on other Pokemon such as Meowth and Spoink. It took an hour, and a lot of looking through various books by experts, until they finally reached an agreement.

I would like a Bagon please, sir,[/color] Jayden said tersely but politely.

[Birdybot]

Mr. Rogers clapped his hands together. "Ah, a Bagon. It evolves into a powerful Dragon type, but to achieve that you need a lot of work to train it; the attacks it learns are fairly spread out between levels and it evolves late, but in the end when you have a strong Salamence, it's all worth it. Oops, I seem to have prattled on a little. Let's get you looking at some Bagon, shall we?" he smiled, taking out two Pokéballs.

The first Bagon, a female, was released from her Pokéball. She snorted at Jayden in acknowledgement, eyeing him up and down. What a strange appearance. Bagon walked closer, cocking her sturdy head to one side. Must one of those... Pokémoops? Pokémaps? Something like that. Human-Pokémon hybrid, anyway. She stepped a little closer, a small smile spreading over her face.

The other Bagon, a male, landed in a heap on the floor when he was released from the Pokéball. He shook his head, blinking sharply as things began to come into better focus. It trudged up to Jayden, a goofy grin on his face. This one seemed to be a joker, ready for fun.

Jayden examined the two Bagon calculatingly. The female seemed more cautious, examining him closely before smiling. She would be a good Pokemon, making sure to know everything she could find out before leaping into a situation headfirst.

Then Jayden looked at the male, and laughed as it flopped onto the ground upon being released. Its goofy grin reminded him of Tameya when she was trying to cheer him up or make him laugh. Jayden thought hard; the Pokemon he chose now needed to be the right one. Why, his decision might just affect the rest of his life!

Surprisingly, Tameya remained still and didn’t say anything, only grinned back down at the two Bagon. Personally, she liked the male; he seemed to be ready to have a good time anytime. She tried to keep these thoughts out of her mind though; her thoughts would affect Jayden’s decisions, as he could feel what she felt.

Jayden, meanwhile, was thinking the opposite. He thought the female would be the better choice, brighter and perhaps more stable than the male. This was the kind of decision he and Tam would argue about late into the night for hours, but of course, they didn’t have hours now. Jayden looked again at the male. He seemed friendly and funny enough, but… not the brightest. He might have a hard time learning from his mistakes or following orders, which could be bad in a battle.

Jayden knelt down and picked up the female before saying to Mr. Rogers, I think I’ll take this one.[/color] Tameya lifted her eyes from the Bagon to Mr. Roger’s Arcanine daemon and nodded.

ic// Mr. Roger's Arcanine daemon cave Tameya a low bark of encouragement, telling her to have faith in Jayden and to accept his choices in life, unless, of course, they were very extreme and obviously wrong. She winked, looking back up to her own human.

Mr. Rogers smiled. He was fine with whatever a new student's personal interests were, and if they prefered this sort of Pokémon, the so be it, he would hardly argue. He simply and wordlessly handed Jayden the Pokéball which made him the owner of the female Bagon. He also handed Jayden his starter's items. The new student now had a Pokémon, and so could be classified as a trainer. The visit to the Headmaster was over. "Thank you for joining Suitay Academy. We hope you enjoy your time here. Good luck!" Mr. Rogers grinned, waving Jayden off.

I told you you could put some faith in the people here,[/color] said Tam, grinning at him from her perch on his shoulder. Jayden just rolled his eyes, even though he was beginning to feel the same. Maybe this was the perfect place to start over. And starting over was what Jayden wanted most of all.
