A ROLEPLAY OF KING HENRY VIII'S RULE IN TUDOR ENGLAND.
NOT BASED ON THE HBO SHOW - WE WRITE THE STORY ANEW.
FOR KING & COURT
England's bells have tolled. King Henry VII is finally dead, tormented by disease. Few in his court mourn when he is laid to rest in Richmond. The people now await as his oldest son takes his place. Within days, Henry VIII has been crowned England's King. And the first thing on his royal agenda? To choose for himself a Queen. Without a Queen, legitimate heirs cannot be produced. No male heir means that there is no one to finish the glory that His Majesty has yet to do. But with the increasing number of ladies that are in the King's court, how hard can this task be?
Catherine of Aragon seems to be a perfect prospect in King Henry VIII's eyes. She is loyal to her faith of God and intelligent, and handles everything with a certain grace. Despite that Henry has been taken with her, whispers still penetrate the air. Lady Catherine has already been married, to Henry's dead brother, Arthur. She tells everyone that she and Arthur never consummated their marriage, though she knows this is a lie. But she isn't the only choice available to the young and lusty King. The Boleyns, the Howards, the Seymours, and countless other families hope that the King will turn his eye onto one of their women, and shower favor on the lucky one's family.
Tension is rising at Hampton Court. Everyone watches their King to see who he wishes to marry. The King's mind changes to what he sees, like a child in a candy store. Even so, women and their families gather around, hoping to get his attention and earn their right on the new social ladder. Whatever your reason for coming here, His Majesty the King of England welcomes you.
History has told its story. Now it is our turn to make ours.
