Jaxamar Flameheart leaned back against the railing of the cruise ship, his eyes closed as he enjoyed the sun. His blue eyes opened as he stared up at the puffball clouds overhead. Reaching into a pocket in his vest, he pulled out a photograph. It pictured him and his team after a Pokemon Competition. It had been less than a week, and already he missed them. Lief the Sceptile, the Pokemon he had started out with, a steadfast friend. Draco the Salamence, the Pokemon that his father had given him as a gift while still an egg. Aquos the Lanturn, one of his favourites, and an excellent companion and mount for the long stretches of ocean in his native region.
Jax pushed off the rail and started back towards his stateroom. As he passed a door, it banged open, and a hand shot out, grabbing him around the mouth. A second later, a fist met his temple, and his world turned black.

When Jax opened his eyes, everything was fuzzy, and indistinct. He pushed himself up, glad that it was, at least, warm, since he was clad only in briefs. Blinking, he managed to focus his vision, and discovered that he was in a cage. "So they got you too, did they?" someone said sadly. Jax placed a hand on his temple, remembering what had happened, "Who is they? Whoever they are, they got me before I could see them." "Team Rocket." "Figures. That explains the cage. What are they going to do?" A red wing came into his line of vision, and Jax jumped. "Don't worry. It's just me," said the voice, and a face loomed out of the darkness. "They're making Pokemorphs," the creature explained, gripping the bars of Jax's cage, "That cage is designed to protect you from some of the more vicious morphs." "It's designed to keep others out, huh?" "Yes. I'm afraid that I don't know what they're planning." There was a sound, and the Salamence morph pulled back, saying, "Sorry! They hit us with electrical shocks if we do not stay away from the cages." There was a puff, and Jax yelped, staring at the dart in his arm. Everything blurred, then turned black.
The next time Jax woke, he was strapped to a table, unable to move. "What-?" he started, then shouted out in pain as an electical current surged through him. "Do not speak unless spoken to," said a harsh voice. "Giovani," Jax growled under his breath. Surprisingly, Giovani heard him, and laughed, "Yes. Astute one, aren't you? Very well then. We will give you a choice in one small matter." The screen overhead blinked on, and Jax found himself facing several images of Pokemon. "Choose one of these Pokemon." Jax attempted to raise a hand and point, but his hand was still strapped down. "Aw nuts! The Blaziken, then." "Very well." There was an abrupt hiss, and Jax took a deep breath and held it. However, his vision blurred anyway, and he realised that they were injecting the anasthetic right into his bloodstream. "Aw nuts," he managed, before everything turned black.

Jax's eyes opened, and the Salamence morph was standing over him. "It's all right, the proceedure is complete. You'll be in some pain, but you should recover." Jax's reply came in the form of a Blaziken cry. The Salamence morph backed away as Jax stood tall, his wrists igniting. The other Morphs all gathered around as Jax raised his hands, and examined his new body. With a cry, Jax took off towards the barred window. Leaping up to it, he grabbed the bars and heaved. They didn't budge. Snarling, Jax burst fully into flame himself, destroying his briefs in the process, and pried the bars apart, clambering out as the window shattered from the heat stress. The wall partially collapsed when he was through, and Jax cried out once more, then took off at a run as the other morphs clambered quickly out of the hole. The Salamence morph stopped once he was out, and looked in the direction that the newly-created Blaziken morph had travelled in, then spread his wings, and followed the burning footprints.
He spied the Blaziken morph lying unconscious at the banks of a stream. "Mrrg," the Blaziken morph mumbled when he was rolled onto his back. The Salamence morph looked up as a Typhlosion Daemon came running up to them. "Well, my old friend," he murmured, smiling, "It's been a while." "Too long," came the reply, "Who's the other one?" "I don't know his name. I'll have to find out when he awakens. For the moment, let's find some shelter."
