As darkness gathered, the bush grew more active. The Pokémon inside was a nocturnal Pokémon, then. It had probably just woken up as the sun began to set, and was now slowly arousing. A berry rolled from the bush, half-eaten, as sounds of the Pokémon eating came. Breakfast for the bush Pokémon. Another growl, and cold yellow eyes appeared, glaring at Maeve and her Pokémon. It didn't look the most friendly of creatures. A paw pushed through the leaves, then retreated again, the Pokémon unsure of whether or not to show itself.
Finally, a Poochyena emerged. It shook out it's black and grey coat and snarled, leaping at Maeve. It landed neatly in front of it, head down, fur bristling as it adopted an intimidating pose. It seemed to want a battle. It howled, not to get backup, but to again, intimidate Maeve and her Pokémon.

The Whole group took a step back as a poochyena came flying out of the bushes, cold yellow eyes glaring at them. They all shivered as it took on an Intimidating look, and then let loose with a rather eerie howl.
Astra took the two steps to press his body against Maeve's leg, the Espeon daemon indistinctly trying to comfort and be comforted at the sight of an unhappy dark type. The young Coordinator reached up and pressed a hand against Ralt's leg. The tiny psychic type was shivering after that last sound, Obvious scared by the Dark type pokemon. Kemedo gave a low whine and moved to press himself up against Maeve's other leg, Obviously a little scared of the other canine.
Tama hissed at the Poochyena, and began to take a step forward, when she was stopped by one of Amel's claws. ~He's Mine~ the Bug type said. Tama nodded ~Go ahead~ It was only fair, She'd been in the last two fights, as had Keme... and it seemed Amel wished to show them all what he could do in a battle.
Maeve smiled when she saw Amel move to take his place in front of the Poochyena. "Alright Amel!" She called out "Hit it with Sand Attack and then Scratch" The bug type did just that, Sweeping both claws over the top layer of dirt and flinging it at the canine's face, and then continuing the movement to strike at its body.

Poochyena was both surprised and pleased that the battle had begun so quickly and immedietly. Oh, the sweet taste of battle. The work, the muscles, the experience and all. The dog's tail was wagging slowly from in between his legs. Poochyena began wiping the sand from the sand attack away with his large paws, and the Scratch attack, despite hurting, knocked a little more sand off. Still sandy but able to see, Poochyena faced the Nincada, ready himself to attack.
Poochyena let out a furious snarl as he raced over towards Amel. He liked the way the wind blew in his face and his paws thudded in rhythmicly against the soft earth. He grinnid a doggy smile as he approached Amel, lunging the final bit. True, his accuracy may be not as good as it could be, but right now the dog Pokémon was using a Tackle attack. It was fairly accurate so far, and the puppy was pleased with himself.

Amel was hit by the tackle, his body skidding a short distance before stopping. "Amel! Leech life" Maeve called from her place behind him. The bug type nodded and a series of balls of green and yellow energy swirled around him and his opponent as he attempted to suck the life from the Poochyena.

Poochyena cocked his head to one side. Leech Life? He'd never heard of that attack before, and didn't know what it did. Then he felt a horrible piercing feeling as the little needle went in, and felt his energy painfully sap away. He whined in pain. Dark types like himself were weak to Bug type moves, and this was definately one of them by his reckoning. Nincada was a Bug type, so it made sense. He watched as the needle moved away... and got Amel! Yes! But wait- it appeared to be healing him! OK, now he understood. This attack was much like Absorb. Energy was taken from the foe (him) and given to the user (Amel)
Poochyena snarled. The silly Bug type would get what was coming to it for that! A howl raised from the dog's lips, raising his attack with the spine-chilling sound. When he was done and his muzzle was shut, he raced at Amel again in a similar Tackle as before.

This time Amel managed to side step the Poochyena's Tackle, Launching another Leech Life as it passed him. Another spike of Green/yellow energy flying at the dark type to try and suck its energy away.

Poochyena now knew what was coming. He growled, letting out a little frustrated noise as he was forced to do a stupid flip in order to avoid being hit by the Leech Life. That safely dodged, his cheeks were glowing pink in embarrasement. Oh, dear. Why did that Leech Life have to be aimed in such a way that he'd have to do a flip? It was just silly. The dog Pokémon had a snarl on his lips. He was definately not happy. He growled as he charged at Amel again in the hope that he'd strike.

"Amel! Harden!" Maeve called out to her pokemon as she saw the Poochyena comeing at him for another tackle. The nincada followed her orders, His body going ridged, as a soft glow indicated the defensive move was working.

Poochyena stared. Harden? How silly! Who would want to use Harden?! All it did was raise one silly stat, Defense! The dog chuckled in laughter. Oh, what a silly trainer and a silly Pokémon. Poochyena hadn't been damaged, so, in his opinion, this wasn't a proper attack. He'd show them a proper attack! The dog growled as he ran as fast as he could at Amel, in yet another Tackle.

The Poochyena's tackle hit, but thanks to his earlier harden, Amel didn't take nearly as much damage as before. With the poochyena still so close, The Nincada repeated his earlier Sand Attack, Scratch Combination, Using his claws to fling dirt at the dog like pokemon's face, before continuing to attempt a hit with both his Claws.
Maeve, Luca and Astra cheered Amel on as he fought, the three of them encouraging the Nincada to hit the Dark type as hard as he could. Tama and Keme were watching the fight closely. The pylenti wanting to see just how good her master's Nincada really was, and the Electrike hoping to learn some new tactics and moves by watching the other Canine.

Poochyena felt the sand on his face once more. Oh, not again. He knew what would happen next; Amel would use Scratch. That was the problem with using the same tactic twice in one battle; the opponent knew what was coming. If it was a good tactic, it wouldn't matter. However, Poochyena have good ears. The puppy listened for Amel, and when he heard the Nincada nearly upong him, he leapt into the air, dodging the move. He landed, using his tail to help him turn to face where he thought Amel was. However, the Nincada had been too quick and Scratched him the moment Poochyena had landed.
Now panting, the canine wiped away enough sand to see. He turned around very quickly, and had already began to start running by the time he'd turned. He was racing at Amel in another Tackle attack. He looked pretty weak. Say, another Leech Life- a super effective move- would finish him off? Well, his Tackle didn't seem to be weakening, even if he was.

As The poochyena rushed the Nincada in another tackle Maeve yelled out "Amel! Hit it with another Leech Life!" Right before the Dark type canine hit him, Amel fired the dart of Green/Yellow energy that made up the attack. He was thrown backwards when the Poochyena's bulk slammed into him. He pulled himself rather shakily to his legs several feet form where he had been. The bug's eyes turned to the dog, looking to see if he had been able to hit it.

Poochyena grinned happily as he saw that his attack had been a successful hit, and rushed forwards to deliver the 'final blow' upon Amel. However, he hadn't noticed that the Nincada had already sent out an attack. Paying no attention to it, the puppy Pokémon had simply kept running. It looked as though he had the intention of using a Tackle attack, but he never reached Amel. The Dark type dog gave a last, finished, peircing howl of pain, before falling to one side, eyes shut. The Leech Life had hit him, and was now delivering energy to Amel, but Poochyena would never see it. He had been defeated, and was able to be caught.
Amel gained two levels!

Maeve smiled as she walked over to Amel and the fallen Poochyena. Putting Luca on the ground, She smiled at her nincada. "Well done Amel! That was a truly Spectacular fight" Crouching down she gently patted the bug type on the head. Turning slightly she looked at the unconcious dark type that had fallen only a short distance away. Tama and Keme were sniffing about, getting its scent, But standing far enough away that if it awoke suddenly, they wouldn't be in range of an attack.
"What do you think?" Maeve asked, brushing a loose strand of red hair back behind her ear. "Shall we bring him along?" Tama and Keme looked at each other and then over at Amel and Luca. The Pylenti, Electrike and Ralts Nodded, While the Nincada shrugged. "Alright then" Maeve looked at Astralon who also nodded. Pulling out a pokeball, Maeve enlarged the red and white capture device and then reached out and tapped the poochyena gently on the head.

Although this method of capture was slightly unusual, for most people prefer to throw the Pokéball, Poochyena was absorbed inside all the same. All Pokéballs give Pokémon a chance to escape, so Poochyena woke up once he was absorbed inside to give him that chance. However, it was always very slim, for the Pokémon did not have much energy left. The Pokéball twitched and shuddered in Maeve's hand, however, but it finally fell still with that soft ping sound. Poochyena had been caught!
Maeve caught a Poochyena!
