Vera had stopped just before the entrance to route 1.She looked at the tall grass and decided that they needed to get in some practice before they went in. She looked over at the shiny Riolu who was currently riding on the back of her Daemon. “Ok guys, we’re going to stop here for a bit. I want us to get some training before we enter route one. And I want you, Kael, to have a bit of a chance to get used to moving and being on your feet again”
The currently Arcanine formed Daemon and the Shiny Riolu nodded, as Kael slipped off Jax’s back. He staggered slightly as he hit the ground, Still not entirely back too normal after so long in his pokeball. Vera twisted her body slightly, reaching into the saddle bags she wore to hold her things. Rummaging around in its depths, she pulled out a pokeball.
Touching the release button, a beam of red light took the form of a young female Eevee. As Vera set the pokeball into her bracelet, the eevee looked around at the water covered world and at the Shiny Riolu. “Kael, this is Shae. Shae this is Kael.” Vera introduced the two. “My Brother snuck her pokeball into my bag before I left. I didn’t find it until two days ago.” Bold little thing that she was, Shae had trotted up to Kael, and was sniffing him. Kael had frozen for a moment, but now he carefully Patted Shae on the head.
“Ok you two. Time for some training” The two pokemon moved to stand in front of the shiny Arcanine pokemorph. “Ok, Kael, Your up first. How are you on your feet?” Vera asked. Kael smiled ~Much better~. “Ok then” The breeder pulled several brightly coloured plastic sticks from her bags. “This one is fairly simple. I’m going to throw these into the air. I want you to use foresight to tell where their going to land, and then Quick Attack to catch them”
When Kael nodded that he was ready, Vera tossed the sticks into the air. The yellow furred Riolu closed his eyes for a moment, his body seeming to glow slightly as he used foresight. Snapping open his eyes, the others had a moment to see them glowing red, before his body blurred and became nothing more than a vague streak of yellow racing across the wet ground. They got a good image of him as he paused under each tumbling stick, and grabbed it out of the air, before moving on to the next one.
In moments all the sticks were out of the air, and Kael was standing back in front of Vera, the bundle of brightly colored plastics over one shoulder. “Well Done Kael!” Vera exclaimed when her brain finally caught up to what she had seen. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone do it that fast”
The shiny Riolu blushed slightly at the praise, but then looked up at her, silently asking ‘what next?’. Vera looked at him considering. They just practiced foresight and quick attack. The only other moves that Kael knew were Endure and Blaze Kick, the last move indicating that somewhere in his ancestry Kael had either a Blaziken or a Hitmonlee. No Way were they practicing Endure, Vera had no wish to try and seriously hurt Kael, which would be required for that move. But Blaze Kick….. The Arcanine morph remembered how she had trained Cubia to use that move, and knew that the same technique would work for Kael.
“Alright, Blaze Kick training next.” She pulled another set of sticks from her bag. These were heat resistant plastic, designed to help in the training to fire type pokemon. This particular set was designed to ‘break’ into three pieces when hit with a certain amount of force. Carefully Vera pushed several into the wet earth. “Ok Kael, I Want you to use Blaze kick on these”
Kael nodded and moved to the first stick. He took several practice kicks at it, refreshing his body memory about the balance needed for this move. Then, as his foot swung once more at the Stick, It burst into flames. Connecting solidly, the Blaze kick attack caused the stick to split into three pieces. Having seen Vera fitting them together, Kael wasn’t worried and moved on to perform the attack again, and then for a third time on the other sticks. “Well Done Kael.” Vera picked the small pokemon up and hugged him, before setting him back on his feet.
“Ok, Shae, We’re going to practice your Tackle attack” Vera reset the sticks Kael had been using for his Blaze Kick training. “All you’ve got to do is Tackle the sticks” The eevee had been chattering a mile a minute to Jax about what Kael had been doing. She bounced her way to Vera’s side and then looked over the sticks. Off like a flash, she slammed into the first stick, used the rebound to hit the second and then made a bee line fore the third. The pieces clattered the ground, as Vera sighted on the two that Kael hadn’t used. A moment later they too were lying on the ground, hit by the Eevee’s tackle.
“Well done Shae!” Vera praised the young eevee. Shae grinned and trotted back to Vera ~Thatwasfun!Canwedoitagain?Canwe?Canwe?~. Vera looked down at the Eevee “Breath Shae.” The eevee took several deep breaths ‘Ok, now say that again slowly so we can understand” ~That was fun! Can We do it Again?~ Shae asked, her speech slow enough to be followed this time.
“Not right now Shae. We can do it again later if you really want to” Vera gestured to Jax. The Daemon changed back to being a Houndoom and he trotted out to stand in front of Shae. “Ok Shae. I want you to Use Tail whip, with Jax as the target” Generally Target practice with ones Daemon as the target was a bad idea, But with tailwhip being a status affecting move only, It was safe.
Shae trotted over to Jax, and began wag her tail in his face. Jax could feel what would have been his defense lowering, were he a true pokemon, and not a soul in pokemon form. Senseing this, Shae wagged her tail even more, forcing Jax’s defense lower and lower, had they of been in a battle and had Jax been a pokemon and not a daemon.
Eventually the Eevee got bored and looked back at Vera. “Ok Shae! That’s enough” when Shea bounced back to her, Vera scooped the little Eevee up and gave her a scratch under the chin. “Well done Shae, that was excellent work” Shae licked Vera chin and then struggled to be put down.
“Alright guys! I think were ready to enter” two pokemon, a pokemorph and a deamon turned to look at route one, and then took the first steps into a new journey.

Kael is quite formal in his speech, rarely using contractions except in the heat of battle. He's rather a charming fellow, and very intelligent.
