The judge stood ready, beside the centre of the battlefield. A strong Arcanine was at her side, ready to sort things out if it went wrong. She waved a flag and blew a whistle. "Let the battle commence!" she called.

Ralts gave an expansive stretch, yawning widely, before slumping down at Khera's feet.
Dada, where's our next opponent? Waiting like this is dull. They'll be here in a minute. If they aren't I will hunt them down and drag them here. Oh, dada. You're so funny sometimes. Straightening up, the Ralts tottered back a few paces, unbalanced by its top-heavy head. We should probably start getting ready. Is there any need for preparation? We did well enough in our last match, even though you're unexperienced. I suppose so. Oh, but we shouldn't get overconfident. We barely scraped a win in that last battle. I didn't feel like I could go on. It'll be okay, little one. If needs must, I can protect you.

((Eek! Sorry for being so late!))
Kuno crawled forward, looking about. He certainly was not used to events like this. The Cubone eye's brightened as a Ralts and its trainer came into his vision. The Pokemon asked in a whisper, ~We here now? Battle we do, yes?~
Kamari nodded, an anxious expression on her face. She absolutely loathed sending out Kuno in battle like this. She blinked, determined not to show this feeling to her opponent. She was supposed to act strong, and that she would. Kamari walked up to the pair with a slight nod, introducing herself, "Hello there, my name is Kamari. Right here is Kuno."
The Cubone tilted his head as a greeting. He then lowered it, only showing the skull on his head. Kuno lifted it once more, saying hesitantly, ~H-hello. You is...?~

(( S'okay. ;3 ))
Ralts waved eagerly at Kuno and Kamari. Hi! Hi. Oh hi there, hi, hello, hi! It giggled telepathically. Oh, this is going to be so much fun, fun, fun!
Khera wasn't as happy. He didn't like watching Ralts battle. The tiny creature had lodged a portion of itself in the back of his mind; watching it take attacks caused a horrible feeling that would have made him cringe had he been prone to such things, and there was a nasty itching feeling of pain every time it got hurt. Still, the psychic-type had insisted on entering this barbaric tournament, and as his only desire was currently to pander to its every whim, he had consented.
"I call myself Khera. Pleased to meet you. This is Ralts, who does not have a name." Ooh, that reminds me, dada! Ralts flicked back into 'single-channel' telepathy. I want to give myself a name. You have one, and our opponent has one, but I do not. Very well, little one. I shall mull it over.
Khera readied himself. As uncomfortable as battling with Ralts made him feel, there wasn't much choice for him. If he'd had emotions, he probably would have braced himself for the quite possibly traumatic onslaught to follow, but as it was he didn't care beans. "You may have the first move, Kamari."
