"Well," Cruurtun said, turning to face the other student, "Here we are. My Pokemon are ready for battle. Are yours?"
All three of Cruurtun's Pokemon were out, Azuril bouncing on his tail, Kila'na sitting, awaiting her trainer's orders, and Bonsly bouncing from foot to foot in excitement.
Muukhuz stood just behind Cruurtun, watching the girl warily.

The girl smiled, excited. This was her first battle against a Pokémon trainer, too. She was all excited about what might come about from this. She knew what all of Cruurtun's Pokémon were; Kila'na the Growlithe, Bonsly and the Azurill which had fled from her before he'd caught it. He knew one of her, Pokémon, her Buizel. But what was her other Pokémon? She decided it would be best for Cruurtun to pick his Pokémon first. After all, as she'd said earlier; she didn't want any type advantages or disadvantages. "Choose your Pokémon!" she grinned.

"Bonsly, it's your turn," Cruurtun said, and the little character dashed forwards so fast that he tripped over his own feet, and tumbled head over heels a short way, before bouncing right back onto his feet.
"Bonsly!" he said, tapping his three green nodules together. Muukhuz leaned in and whispered into Cruurtun's ear, or, more precisely, fin, "This one is going to be a handful to raise." "Agreed," Cruurtun murmured back, "He's an excitable little one, but seems to be sturdy in nature."

The girl grinned. So, he was using his Bonsly. They were Grass types- no, Rock types. A perfect oppertunity to use her first Pokémon, who would neither be weak nor strong against this Pokémon. Ordinarily, she'd have used her Buizel, but since she'd promised to have no type advantages, she'd use this Pokémon. Throwing the Pokéball, a mouse appeared in the light. "Go, Pari!" she cried.
~Pi-caaaa-aaa!~ a Pikachu squealed in pleasure as he was chosen to fight. Oh, boy! Their first fight against a trainer! He remained where he was, allowing Cruurtun to make the first move.

Cruurtun put his palm to his face. "Is that really the right choice?" he said, as Bonsly bounced from foot to foot, "A Pikachu is an electric type, whereas Bonsly is rock-type. You've just given me a type advantage; normal and electric attacks have little effect on rock types." Muukhuz was staring at the Pikachu with her mouth slightly open. "You've got to be kidding..." Kila'na seemed more surprised than amused, but Azuril was laughing his head off, rolling around on the grass. "That's the sort of mistake an amateur would make," Cruurtun said flatly, "Bonsly, let's teach her a lesson. Headbutt! Now!"
Bonsly charged towards the Pikachu, head down. "BONSLYYYYYYY!"

ooc// Actually, Electric type moves are normally effective on Bonsly. This page has proofs.
ic// The girl raised an eyebrow. Cruurtun seemed to think that she'd be using Normal type moves. Well, Pikachu didn't learn any Normal type moves until level thirteen, when it learned Quick Attack, and since she hadn't had her Pikachu very long it wasn't at that high a level yet. "Paril, use Thundershock!" she called.
The mouse had a plan. He timed Bonsly coming towards him, watching the sapling's every movement, every slight indication that be might change direction. Timing his attack well, Paril's cheeks crackled with electricity moments before Bonsly struck. Paril let loose his attack at the exact moment he felt impact with Bonsly.

(OOC: Birdy, I play the games, and I know the strengths and weaknesses from experience. Believe me, a Rock-type has an advantage on an electric-type.)
Bonsly slammed into the Pikachu an instant before the lightning bolt struck, and it struck his backside. Squealing in pain, Bonsly started to use Fake Tears without orders. Cruurtun winced, knowing that that had to hurt. "Bonsly! Go for another Headbutt!" he ordered, and Bonsly looked up, and charged at the Pikachu again.

ooc// I've played the games too, and only Ground types have an advantage over Electric types. As well as that first site, I have more proof; Here and here!
ic// The girl watched. Oh, another headbutt. What were they to do about that? Bonsly knew an Egg move, and it was a fairly straightforwards hit attack. Pikachu, as her starter, also knew an Egg move, but it's power increased as Pikachu's decreased, so she wouldn't really get much use from it until the end of the battle. As for now, she could use Pikachu's speed to her advantage. "Dodge and use Growl!" she called.
Paril's little thunderlike tail swished from side to side as he crouched, ready to spring to either side. The Pikachu leapt safely out of harm's way, although said tail was squished painfully by Bonsly. A low rumbling sound then was emitted from his throat, growing steadily louder and louder. This was his Growl, intended to lower Bonsly's Attack stat.

OOC: Have it your way, then.
"Bonsly..." Bonsly said nervously. "Bonsly, be brave," Cruurtun said, "You can do this. Use Copycat!" Bonsly's eyes brightened, and he growled right back at the Pikachu, copying its move. "Now use Headbutt again!" Cruurtun said, and Bonsly charged forwards, head down.

So, Paril's Attack stat was now weakened. They were even again. Well, in the attack stats, at least; since Headbutt was a stronger move, Paril the Pikachu had less energy left than Bonsly. As much as she wanted to, the girl couldn't afford to use stat changers now, for that might loose the battle for her. "Paril! Dodge and Thundershock!" she called.
Paril the Pikachu was ready to spring at the right moment, but he must have misjudgded something because he sprang too late, and the Headbutt hit full on. He squealed in pain as he was tossed to the floor, quickly scrambling up to his feet again, however, to set loose some electricity in the promised Thundershock.

"Bonsly!" Cruurtun said, "Counter it with Copycat! Then use Fake Tears!" "Bonsly!" the Bonsly said, firing electricity right back at the Pikachu. However, it wasn't quite as strong, and Bonsly took the attack, but it was weakened, and Bonsly only winced, fake tears leaking from his eyes. Nice one, Cruurtun thought, pleased, Bonsly timed that one perfectly.

The Pikachu barely reacted at all as he took the mimiced attack. After all, a weak Electric type move would be little more than a prickle to an Electric type, although it would be much more painful to other Pokémon. The girl grinned. Copycat wouldn't be the best of things sometimes, like just then. "Paril, Thundershock!" she called. She could see that Paril the Pikachu was weakening; perhaps a couple of attacks would find him fainted.
Paril was indeed weakened, panting very slightly but panting none the less. His Thundershock's aim was poor, but it was just as strong as the rest. His tail flicked to one side as he eyed Bonsly carefully.

"Bonsly! Evade it!" Cruurtun ordered. Bonsly obeyed instantly, jumping off to one side. The Thundershock zoomed past; a near miss. "Now it's time for Headbutt again!" Cruurtun ordered, and Bonsly charged forwards again, shouting its name repeatedly at the top of its voice. "Well, at least he's enthusiastic," Muukhuz said in an amused tone.

The girl knew she couldn't really afford her Pikachu to be hit again; a powerful attack like Headbutt could well end this battle. She just couldn't take the risk of having the poor Pokémon be hit again. However, Bonsly was showing no signs of weakness, even though he'd been hit by the same amount of attacks as Paril the Pikachu. Perhaps now would be a good time to bring in the egg move. "Reversal, Paril!" she called.
Paril the Pikachu grinned. A Fighting type move, the other offensive move he knew at this stage. He lunged for Bonsly, and, since his energy was very small, the attack would be extremely powerful. The Electrike type was being very accurate, too. However, if the attack was successful, there would be next to no hope of Pikachu being able to dodge a Headbutt which would finish the battle.

The attack hit Bonsly with a glancing blow, dealing a rather large amount of damage and causing him to cry out in pain. It also sent him spinning, causing his head-bobbles to go around in a circle, and zoom over the Pikachu's head. Bonsly, now very mad, and somewhat weakened, used Copycat again, without Cruurtun's orders, and sprung a Reversal back at the Pikachu.
"I thought you said not type advantages!" Cruurtun said crossly, "Pulling stunts like that is a sure way to get disqualified in any Gym."
