Starting the Journey

It was morning when Hawk Darrino and his daemon Salia made it to Pine Village, having spent a night to rest on the way here. Of course, they were here for the same reason everyone visits and that was to get a Pokemon. Walking along, the boy shifted slightly, as if uncomfortable. Besides him, his daemon, currently in Luxray form, looked up.

"What's wrong?" Salia asked, tilting her head.

"I don't know really." Hawk replied, shrugging. "You didn't have to ask, you know."

"I did ask though." The daemon replied as they neared a very friendly-looking building. Hawk could hear the faint sounds of Pokemon from nearby, making him smile slightly. Looking around, he spotted the door quick enough, and walked up to it, before knocking twice. Salia stood on his right, completely still.

[Birdybot]

Professor Pine, as he usually did, opened the door for Hawk and Salia. The man had his usual wide smile spread over his face. He was well rehearsed at handing out starter Pokémon, and had learned many things from it. He knew that girls, especially those who cared about the appearance too much, were more likely to choose cute Pokémon than boys. He knew how to treat the people, too, although there had been a case when he hadn't. But that child didn't have a daemon, he didn't have a soul, so that was something completely alien to the world of Enera.

"Hello, my name is Professor Pine. Please, do come in." he greeted Hawk, waving the Pokémorph inside. Now it was growing colder, Pine knew that the starting trainers would definately want to come inside to the warmth. He offered Hawk a seat, then asked, "Do you know what Pokémon you would like?"

[Katana]

"Uh... thank you, Professor." Hawk replied, as though unsure of how to reply. He and Salia walked inside, looking around warily. When he saw the offered seat, Hawk hesitated to sit, until his daemon nudged him. After that, he sat down fast enough. "Um... Pokemon I'd like? I guess anything Flying type. Or even part Flying." The boy mused, a thoughtful look on his face. "Maybe a Pidgey." He added in a mutter.

[Birdybot]

Pine smiled. Well, it was fairly obvious that the Pidgeot Pokémorph would want a Pidgey or some other Flying type, was it not? The Flying type Noctowl daemon on his shoulder hooted in appreciation and satisfaction at Hawk's choice as her human walked over to his trusty filing cabinet. "Right, I'll show you a Pidgey and take out some other flying types." he said, choosing a Pidgey and selecting two others completely at random, before releasing them for Hawk to see. He could take a guess at which would be chosen.

Pidgey clicked it's beak, cooing as it emerged. It noticed Hawk right away, face lighting up as it saw a people version of it's evolved forms. Oooh, a Pokémorph! It hoped it would be chosen; it'd heard that Pokémorphs can understand everything a Pokémon said.

The next Pokémon was a Tailow. It trilled a high note, launching into the air and circling over Hawk's head a few times before swooping away.

The final Pokémon was a Starly, who chattered before falling silent. Fluttering up to a tabletop, it shook it's feathers. It didn't look very cheery or talkative.

[Katana]

Hawk watched the trio of Pokemon appear, smiling slightly. First he spotted the Pidgey, and it was hard not to just grab it and go. Next he saw the Tailow. Seemed a bit... well, he couldn't describe it but he just moved onto the Starly. The silent Starly.

"So, Sal, you have the same thoughts as me?" Hawk asked his daemon, looking to her.

"I believe so. I think we'll take the Pidgey." Salia decided, having also given the trio of Pokemon a glance. "Kind of obvious choice in the end."

[Birdybot]

Professor Pine smiled, eyes twinkling in mirth. The Pidgey. Of course, that was fairly obvious, as he'd suspected. Pidgey twittered in delight at being chosen, swooping the short distance to Hawk's shoulder. The other two birds nodded, before Pine returned them to their Pokéballs for another trainer to pick them. He then handed Hawk Pidgey's Pokéball, along with his various starter's items.

Hawk took the various items handed to him, placing them systematically into a pocket somewhere, except the Pokeball. He put that into a hidden pocket on the inside of his coat. Grinning at the Pidgey on his shoulder, he stood.

"Right. Well, let's see. Any prefered names, Pidgey? Well, actually, gender would help first." The Pokemorph said to his new Starter.

"I'm a guy. As for my name... call me... Ace." The Pokemon, Ace rather, replied after a period of thinking. It was obvious he had been thinking, because he had tilted his head.

"Alright. Ace it is. Well, Professor, thanks for all the help. I'll go now. Don't want to hold you up." Hawk asked, Salia stretching as she got up and stood next to her human. Together, Hawk, Salia and Ace left the lab, towards the entrance of Route One.
