Perhaps the Oddish wasn't very fast, or perhaps not expecting the attack, but she let out a cry as the shiny Absol's claws raked in to her, sending her flying across the room. At first she seemed unable to move, before resolutely returning to her feet, obviously heavily weakened, but refusing to give up until she couldn't mve anymore.
Elika smiled almost sadly at her Pokemon. The Oddish was fighting so hard, for her. And yet, she knew that the Oddish wanted to keep fighting, against what was good for her. "Oddish, use Absorb now, please!" the gym leader said to her Pokemon, hoping that that it would regain some health and possibly stay in the battle a bit longer.
Small green orbs flowed from the Oddish once more, glowing more faintly but heading for the Absol nonetheless in the hopes that maybe the Oddish could steal some energy...

Well, all of Odish's attacks had hit so far. Perhaps it was time for one to miss. After all, Absol were very fast Pokémon and Oddish were a little slow. Sulteron had a plan. A good plan, in her opinion. She watched as the Absorb came closer to the wolf. She saw his muscles tense as if about to leap out the way. "Tayeko, don't move!" she called out. She could see Tayeko was surprised. Jizu, currently the Bayleef daemon, understood what Sulteron was doing through their link and smiled. Clever. Sulteron smiled. "Wait... just a little more... Faint Attack, quick!" she called. Oddish wouldn't be expecting Tayeko to attack when he was supposed to be being attacked himself, after all.
Tayeko grinned. The Absol really loved his trainer's battle style sometimes. His form disappeared mere seconds before the Absorb would have hit. He was fairly relieved that he hadn't felt that tickly pain again, and most importantly that Oddish hadn't healed itself. The Absol was, yes, weakened considerably, but he had more left in him than Oddish did right now. He hoped Sulteron would let someone else fight for the gym leader's next Pokémon if he beat Oddish. Anyway, he was ready to reappear behind Oddish for the attack...

It was bound to hit, it always did. The Oddish blinked in surprise as the dark wolf disappeared, evading the glowing green balls completely, and knew it was coming, since she had been hit with the same move just a few turns earlier. Still, this knowledge didn't help her survive; when Tayeko hit her, she went rolling across the smooth, dusty floor of the gym, sending little dust motes into the air. The weed Pokemon was still as the specks swirled around her, reflecting the light of the overhead dome. It was obvious that the Oddish had been knocked out.
"Oh dear, my sweet Oddish... take a rest, you did very well," Elika said as she returned the Oddish to her Pokeball. She directed her next words at Sulteron. "You're doing quite well, not many trainers are as skilled in battle. Still, you have one Pokemon to go." She held up another Pokeball, then tossed it into the air. It spun a few times, then glowed with white light that suddenly streaked down at the gym floor in several magnificent and elegant ribbons, before meeting up at the same point and exploding in a shower of pink petals. As the light faded, it revealed a Chikorita, Elika's second Pokemon.
The Chikorita looked quite ready for battle; she swung her leaf around and let out a cry, staring down the Absol. Elika simply smiled warmly.

Sulteron watched the Chikorita. Jizu shifted, uncomfortable at being in the form of an evolved version of his opponent, into a Leafeon. He grinned. Sulteron smiled back down at him. Perhaps she ought to get some seals for her chosen team. That would be cool. Or, at least, she should get some when she fought the elite. The Chikorita looked strong, as though she had just had a rest; then again, she probably had. The Espeon 'morph felt that Tayeko looked pretty worn out himself; another attack or so would finish him off. It wouldn't be fair on him to wear him down that much when she could always switch as the leader's Pokémon had fainted. "Tayeko, do you wanna switch out?" she asked. The Absol nodded. She returned him, and withdrew another Pokémon.
From the flash of red light came a Blaredog, the Fire and Flying type evolution of Flarepup. Lenyi fluttered her wings, hovering and inch in the air. She loved being able to do this, but it wasn't that high. She wished she were a Burfox, with limitless flight abilities. Well, at least she could fly at all. Her fur bristled as she saw Chikorita. A thin growl escaped her lips. However, she would let Chikorita have the first move.

Elika smiled as the Blaredog appeared to wait for Chikorita to make the first move. "Alright then. Chikorita! Poison powder!" The pale grass type swung her leaf and a cloud of thick purple dust wafted towards the Blaredog. Elika and her Daemon watched anxiously to see if the Blaredog would be affected. It is was, their job would become that much easier.

Lenyi's eyes widened in terror as she saw the swarming purple cloud heading towards her. Oh, no! If she breathed too much of that in, she would get the Poisoned status condition! She would take a little damage on every turn! She felt a little of it already stinging her nostrils... oh dear. Sulteron thought on her feet; there wasn't much time. "Lenyi! Use a Gust attack to send it back to Chikorita!" the Espeon 'morph called swiftly.
A flicker of a smile crossed the Blaredog's face, and her too-small wings began to beat rapidly. They pushed the air away from her, towards Chikorita, blowing the PoisonPowder with it. Even if Chikorita wasn't Poisoned, it'd still be hurt a little by it. Lenyi herself knew that although she wasn't properly Poisoned, she had been effected a little; she felt a minute amount of her health slip away, coughing.

The grass type was pushed back a short distance by the gust attack, and sneezed a little as the poison hurt her nose. "It's Ok Chikorita" Elikaa called out. The chikorita nodded and moved to stand where she was before. "Hit it with Razor Leaf Chikorita!" The grass type nodded and swirled the leaf on her head, Razor Sharp leaves appearing and hurling towards the Blaredog.

Lenyi was struck by the Razor Leaf attack. However, being a Fire/Flying type, it didn't have much effect on her. It was still painful, though. She winced, taking a step back even though that wouldn't make any difference. She was relieved when the attack ended and Rozar Leaf was over. The Blaredog then looked to Sulteron. The Espeon 'morph thought hard. Well, she hadn't uncovered any weakness and there wasn't much point in a special strategy right now... might as well attack while she could. "Lenyi, use Flame Wheel!" she called finally.
The Blaredog curled up and began to spin towards Chikorita, gaining in speed as she got more momentum. Flames krept along her spine, spreading outwards. Soon, the entire Pokémon was coated in fire. The Flame Wheel attack was heading towards Chikorita... Lenyi felt herself loose a little energy from the poison but ignored it...

This wasn't good. Chikorita tried her very best to dodge the powerful fire attack, but it wasn't nearly enough and the small grass type went flying. It was obvious that the fire type was at a higher level than her, Combined with the type advantage, the Little grass type would have to work extra hard. Another attack like that and She'd likely be done for.
"Chikorita" Elika called out as she saw her pokemon go flying. "Chikorita! Use Synthesis!" The little grass type crawled back to her feet, and Nodded. Her body glowed a soft green as the grass type move restored her health.

Sulteron smiled as the Flame Wheel hit. That would be super effective, and bound to hurt an awful lot to a Grass type at a lower level like Chikorita was. The Espeon 'morph frowned, however, at the use of Synthesis. That would restore her energy. If Chikorita kept using that, she would be able to cheat fainting again and again... unless she defeated her in one move. However, that wasn't very likely. What about two moves, then? One to weaken a little, but not serious, the next to finish off the battle. "Lenyi, use a Gust!"
Lenyi nodded, flapping her wings hard to form powerful winds. Oh, she loved having wings! It was so... exciteting! She formed the strong winds, which she then directed at Chikorita. It wasn't the strongest of attacks, but it would still be damaging. The winds were sharp, and the Blaredog was trying to make it to her trainer's liking.

Chikorita tried staying rooted into the ground, planting her feet to protect from the immense winds, but to no avail as she flew across the room. "Chikorita" Elika called worried, Chikorita stood back up with a determined look on her face, but she was panting. "Use a Growl Chikorita" Elika figured that if she could keep the fire pokemon's attack low, it might help just a bit.

Sulteron smiled, and so did the Leafeon-Jizu beside her. Yes! It looked like Chikorita was panting now, a sign that she was on her way to defeat. Lenyi was pretty tired too, now, and her attacks wouldn't do so much now her Attack stat had been lowered by that Growl attack. But still, the Espeon 'morph believed in her and trusted her. She saw the Blaredog wince as the Poison sapped at her health; more went down than in previous times because she was less able to fight off greater damage. Well, at least she had the advantage still. Sulteron would sieze her chances and keep them close. "Lenyi... Ember!" she called. There was a chance it might not be strong enough to defeat Chikorita, but she wanted to give Lenyi a little time to recover before using a physical attack.
The dog Pokémon smiled, proud of her results so far. This was her trainer's first gym, and so far, so good. All was going well for them right now, and Lenyi felt on top of the world, despite feeling sore. But a Pokémon Centre would fix that right after the battle, no? Well, no point worrying. The Blaredog shot a thin stream of flames at Chikorita in an Ember attack; not as powerful as earlier ones, however, because of her weakened Attack power.

"Chikorita, dodge it!" Elika ordered and the Chikorita did just that, nearly. The ember singed her foot and she fell to the ground wincing in pain. "Are you okay Chikorita?" The leader asked "Rita" The pokemon responded, "Good, then use a Tackle" Chikorita charged the Blaredog hoping to beat this trainer like she'd beaten many before.

Lenyi was struck by the Tackle, which proved to be a powerful move this turn. She yowled in pain as she fell to the ground, then scrambled immedietly to her feet again, fully aware of everything that was going on in the battle. Good, it seemed that Chikorita wasn't faking a surprise move or anything. However the poisoning pained her again for a little bit, less then last time, but she was really worn down now. She was panting. But she was still there. Still in the battle. Still up and fighting for her trainer. They'd earn that gym badge whatever it took!
Sulteron could see that Chikorita had been hurt by the Ember, and that in return Lenyi by the Tackle. Hm. They seemed to both be fairly weak now, with just one or two hits to endure between them left. Her fingers were crossed, hoping with all her heart that Lenyi would be able to do this. "Lenyi, I believe in you! You can do this! Flame Wheel!" she called. Please, please let the Blaredog end this soon. She was leaning forwards, on the edge of her seat. If she had one. Jizu was pretty much the same, his Leafeon form's tail swaying along the ground furiously.
Lenyi smiled a determined smile. She hoped she'd be able to do this. Chikorita was strong, and, after all, Elika was a gym leader. They'd been trained specially... but then again, so had she. And she was a Fire type. She felt her paws ignite, and felt safer. This flames licked their way up to consume her entire body, and she used her wings to assist a powerful leap during which she curled into a ball and began spinning. Her Flame Wheel was fast, and Grass types were known to be slow.

Elika also knew about the slowness of Grass Types, but to make up for that, they did pretty well in direct confrontations. This Flame Wheel would most likely end the fight, but Elika wasn't a Gym Leader for nothing. "Tackle Chikorita!" Elika ordered, if Chikorita could time the collision right she would collide with the Blaredog's head, causing some sever damage, if it was not timed right, the fire would be far too much for Chikorita to handle, a headshot would do a lot of damage as it was. But now it was all for luck
