"Aw, come off it, mum! I'll be FINE!" Ethan exploded, his usual gentleness evaporated in his exasperation. He had gone through this again, and again, and AGAIN!! He WOULD be getting a Pokemon!! "Leave him alone, dear. We've already decided he should go. Why let him leave with your tears on his mind?" Ethan's father broke in calmly, his hand steadying on her shoulder. Ethan's mom wiped her eyes and sniffed, "You're right." She hugged her son and then turned him around and gave him a little push in the direction of Pine Labs.
Ethan flashed a smile much more characteristic over his shoulder at his mother and father. Lia leaped into his arms, her Vulpix form looking near ridiculous with her right ear still stuck a Ninetales ear. He hugged her close. Ethan carried her to the front door of Pine Labs, where he sat her down and she morphed into Ninetales, sighing softly to herself as she caught a glimpse of her reflection and her perfectly matched ears. Ethan took a deep breath, knocked, and breathed out.

Professor Pine smiled at Ethan. Hm, a Ninetails Pokémorph. Not too unusual for the Professor, although many people were morphobic and/or hated Pokémorphs. He always felt sorry for Pokémorphs when he saw them. Poor things, treated horribly most of the time. Well, anyway. His trademark grin was on his face, and Telepa, his Noctowl daemon, had her trademark bored look on her face. "Hello, my name is Professor Pine. Do come in." he greeted Ethan, waving the boy inside his lab.
Ethan was, even at the age of twelve, taller than Pine. The man was a little surprised at this, but dropped the matter. There were far more important things to be done right now to worry about a silly thing like how tall this boy was. Pine looked at the 'morph. "Well, what Pokémon would you like for your starter?" he asked.

((Sorry, gone FOREVER!! ^^))
Ethan smiled wide, down, at Professor Pine. "A Vulpix, please!" Ethan placed his hand softly on Lia's head, trying to steady himself. His heart was thumping wildly beneath his chest and he had to force himself not to grab one of his tails and start fiddling with it.

Pine smiled and nodded. A Vulpix. He supposed it wasn't too hard to guess that a Ninetails 'morph with a daemon who liked being in Ninetails form would want to have a Vulpix for his starter. The Professor gave a nod and fetched three Pokéballs from his filing cabinet, releasing the Fire types inside them. The idea was for Ethan to see what each of the Pokemon was like, and choose one that way.
The first Vulpix huffed, nose high. It gave Telepa a stern look, which she recieved before the fox looked away, flicking its tails in unseen annoyance. The second Vulpix was a little shy, nervous. It looked at Ethan and gave a weak smile, taking a shaky step towards him. It seemed sweet and gentle, just shy. The third one bounded over to him, sniffing an grinning. This Vulpix was energetic, curious and friendly.

Ethan stroked the third Vulpix's head for a moment, but his eyes were glued to the second one. Generally shy himself, he felt drawn to this particular Vulpix. He held out his fingers so it could sniff them cautiously before allowing him to pet it. "This one," he said softly, not wanting to disturb the Pokemon as it rubbed against his palm.

Professor Pine smiled as Ethan made his choice. That had been quick. He supposed that was a good thing. In his experience, trainers generally tended to prefer quick lab trips. He looked at the Vulpix for a moment as he returned the other two Vulpix. It looked like a good choice, but it wasn't that he was thinking of. He was wondering why so many people chose Vulpix. Propably the looks.
Blinking, Pine stopped his chain of thought so he might gather together Ethan's starter stuff. Grabbing a starter pack, he put this in the 'morph's arms, before topping this with his new Vulpix's Pokéball. "Right, that's everything. Good luck, now!" he smiled. It was time for Ethan to head out on his journey.

Ethan placed the items into his pack and bid farewell to the Professor, thanking him on the way out the door. He held Vulpix's Pokeball softly as he headed for the hotel to tell his parents bye. He wanted to show them his Pokemon, and then they would be taking opposite roads, he down Route 1, and they would be flying away, off to some other adventure. "Look Mum, Dad!" he called, opening Vulpix's Pokeball. His father looked down at her, one eye closed as he measured her up. She hid behind Ethan's tail and barked at him. He smiled and laughed, "Good choice, Ethan! She's JUST like you, shy, but you don't want to get on her bad side!" Vulpix cocked her head a bit at this, and relaxed. Ethan hugged his parents and recalled Vulpix. He left dusty footprints as he walked, his tail bobbing elegantly and his ears flicking around, listening as he stepped alone onto Route 1 . . .
