Her first Gym challenge was coming up. Mizuki knew this. But she also knew that she was far from ready for it. In order to be able to handle it, her Pokemon needed to be stronger; much stronger. This clearing just outside of town would be perfect for training. Removing the Pokeballs from their positions, she released her Pokemon.
Sneasel stood at her side, awaiting her further orders. Driftloon floated around nearby. Sunkern was in her usual position in Mizuki's arms until her mommy set her down. Vulpix was at her other side, carefully watching her surroundings. Pidgey perched on one shoulder, with Karasu on the other. Shinx started chasing his own tail, no doubt having energy to spare.
"Listen up, everyone," she suddenly said, getting everyone's attention. "There is a gym here in Silav Town, and I intend to challenge the leader. However, in order to do that, we need to get stronger. This place is perfect for training, so we are going to keep training until you can barely stand if that's what it takes."
"All right; you are to split up into pairs and await further orders, understood?" she asked. Everyone nodded and partnered up. Pidgey and Driftloon were flying side by side, obviously partnered up. Vulpix and Sunkern headed off to another area of the clearing together. Shinx was still chasing his tail, causing Sneasel to sigh. Honestly; she was partnered with this?
"Okay, here's what you two are going to do. You see those two trees over there?" she asked, pointing out two medium-sized trees. "Sneasel, I want you to use Scratch on one of those trees until it comes down. Shinx, do the same with the other one, but use Tackle instead. The one who knocks it down first gets out of extra training."
"Okay!" Shinx ran right ahead and started tackling the tree on the left. Sneasel rolled her eyes and went over to the tree on the right, scratching as hard as she could. Satisfied, Mizuki moved on to Sunkern and Vulpix.
"Vulpix, I want you to have this," she said, passing her some blackened wood. "It's Charcoal. I don't know where it came from, but it's a good thing I found it. Your fire-type attacks will be stronger now. I want you to test them out on that bush over there," she ordered, pointing.
"Sunkern, Vulpix will be trying to burn the bush, as you know. To better train her, she needs an obstacle. I need you to do whatever you can to prevent her from burning it. Make her miss, stop the flames, anything to hinder her," she added.
"Okay, mommy!" Sunkern agreed. She started by firing a Leech Seed at Vulpix. The attack caught her off guard and she yelped.
"Always keep your guard up in a battle. You never know when the enemy will strike," Mizuki warned.
The two Flying-type Pokemon were still awaiting their orders. "Driftloon, you need to work on your speed. I want you to try and catch and Constrict Pidgey. Pidgey, your goal will be to escape from him. Don't let him catch you," she decided. The two got started immediately.

A little while later, Sneasel approached Mizuki smugly. Her tree had fallen, and Shinx was still tackling his. "Well done," she congratulated.
"Thank you," Sneasel answered with a bow.
Mizuki almost smiled. Looking over at the others, she noticed that Vulpix's bush had burned. Sunkern was crying and Vulpix was trying to console her. A yelp caught her attention, revealing Pidgey in Driftloon's clutches.
"Good effort, all of you. Shinx, you get extra training for failing; run two laps around the clearing. Everyone else, we'll continue later if I feel that it is necessary. In the meantime, take a break." All of them (except for Sneasel and Shinx) pretty much collapsed as she said this, tired from their training. Mizuki sighed; if they were this tired after that, she might have to train them harder the next time.
