Blade walked along the path towards Pine Labs, Avartiath sitting on top of his backpack. "Missing the lab?" Avartiath said as they approached the door, and Blade shook his head. "Not the lab, no," he said, sighing, "Mom and Dad... and the Professors... They're who I miss. A big journey like this... it'll take some getting used too." "I know," Avartiath said, patting Blade on the shoulder, "But at least now you can do things you never thought possible." Without even thinking about it, Blade formed an Aura Sphere in his hand, and studied its depths, coming to a halt right before the door to the lab. After a minutes contemplation of the whirling sphere, he dismissed the ball, absorbing it back into his aura, and looked at the door. "No doorbell?" he asked, sounding bemused, and noting a patched hole where someone had apparently punched through the door. Shrugging, he tapped lightly on the frame of the door.

ooc// Since when can he use Aura Sphere? That's a Pokémon attack, not a people thing! Well, just keep that ability of his from developing into a Gary whatever, OK?
ic// Inside the lab, Professor Pine was feeling very relaxed. He had a few of the trainer's Pokémon with him, since this was where they went when they were sent in by PC. These ones were two little Pichu, sleepy and relaxed too by means of Pine stroking them. When he heard the knocking, they became on full alert, squealing with excitement. He and his daemon, Telepa, exchanged glances before moving off, the two little mice following.
When Pine opened the door, the Pichu, who were a male and female, burst into applause. He chuckled, and his Noctowl daemon sighed, tutting. "Hello! I'm Professor Pine, and my daemon's name is Telepa. Don't mind the Pichu, they're just a little excited at... well, anything. They belong to a trainer." he explained, hoping Blade knew already that this was the other end of the PCs. "Well, come on in! It's nice and warm inside!" he smiled.
It was true. Inside the lab, it was wonderfully warm after the bitter winter weather raging outside. The male Pichu bounced around, the female racing after him. Pine smiled at Blade, almost apologetic. He hoped the 'morh was ready for the big question. "What Pokémon would you like?" he asked.

Blade inclined his head. "Codename: BLADE," he said, "Just call me Blade." "Don't forget me!" Avartiath interjected, and Blade chuckled. "And my daemon, Avartiath," he said.
At the question of what sort of Pokemon he'd like, he shrugged apologetically. "Sorry," he mumbled, "I haven't really thought about that." He moved inside, shaking the snow off his shoulders.
(OOC: Blade learned the ability from a Pokemon. And a human in one of the movies (and Ash), are able to use the ability. Blade, though, will mainly use the power for meditation, to help soothe his nerves.)

ooc// I see. I don't watch the shows/movies.
ic// Pine nodded in greeting as Blade introduced himself and Avartiath. He was so polite! The man liked this kid. He was much better behaved than some of the people who came in here. Some people barged in without knocking, and starting poking their noses into everything. Sometimes they even broke stuff or disturbed the Pokémon. Blade, though, was not acting like that. he was mature and sensible, and Pine respected him for it.
Telepa liked Blade too. She felt a little bad that he was apologising, something which didn't happen very often. Pine smiled at him warmly. "No need to be sorry! It's all right if you don't know what Pokémon you want yet. We have lots of choices here, I'm sure we'll find you something. Now, let's narrow down the options a bit, shall we? Could you give me a Pokémon type you like, for example Fire or Flying? Do you like cute Pokémon or tough Pokémon? Furry or feathered or what? That sort of thing. A brief description, then we'll see what we've got." Pine requested. That could work.

"Well..." Blade said, thinking it over, "I'd like a Rock type or a Fire type. Furry preferably. Tough I'd prefer, but balanced with a good level of offensive capabilities as well." He paused to think, and Avartiath interjected, "It's the Gym challenge, you see." "Av!" Blade said, sounding exasperated.

Professor Pine smiled as Blade warned his daemon. He was fine with Avartiath putting in little extra information here and there. So, a tough, furry Rock or Fire type. It wasn't as if furry Rock types were all that common, but he knew of one kind he stocked. He fished about in a drawer for a bit, before finally selecting three Pokéballs he felt would fit Blade's criteria. "Right, I hope you like one of these!" he said, releasing them.
A Pespok, a Ponyta and a Houndour emerged in bursts of red light onto the laboratory floor. The Pespok, the Rock type, padded over to Blade, watching him a little curiously while circling him. Ponyta looked around, then eyed Blade as if it was trying to find something out about him. Houndour's fur bristled, it readying his muscles as he watched the other Pokémon to see if one would start a fight. Pine turned to Blade. "You may not have seen a Pespok before. They're an Enera exclusive Pokémon, and a Rock type. So, which will you choose?" he asked.

Blade spent several minutes studying them, then closed his eyes. The tassels on his head rose up into the distinctive cross shape, and he studied the aura of each of the Pokemon.
When he opened his eyes again, he looked pleased. "I'll take Houndour," he said, fully aware that he might get a startled look, "He's the best."

Professor Pine wasn't entirely sure as to what Blade was doing when he was studying the three Pokémon's auras in turn. What was that? It was something that was familiar, but he didn't quite know where from. His thoughts turned to his Lucario. Hm, he was probably using one of his Pokémon skills. He'd have to ask his Lucario about it later on. At any rate, it helped Blade come to a conclusion, which was a far better method than spending ages prodding and poking.
Pine returned the Pespok and Ponyta to their Pokéballs, leaving the Houndour out with its new trainer. Telepa swooped over to the shelves, grabbing a drawstring bag from it and dropping it in Blade's hands. This contained his starter's items, something which he couldn't really leave without. Pine topped the bag with Houndour's Pokéballs, smiling at Blade. He was now an official trainer. "Well, you're all set to more onto Route One! Good luck!" he said.

Blade inclined his head. "Thank you, Professor," he said, "I shall return at a later date so you can see how I have progressed."
Houndour followed him obediently, curious about why he had been chosen, as he left the lab.
(OOC: What egg moves does Houndour potentially have?)

ooc// You can find out here (click), but it's your job to make sure your Pokémon's attacks are up to date, so you'd probably want to go back there whenever something gains a level.
