((OOC: If you can name the song in the title, you get a cookie . Also, if I may request it, could Selek meet the Eevee I received for making Oreon?)) Selek sighed, it was growing colder every day it seemed. His breath flowed out in front of him, and even with his sweater on the cold was still finding its way to him. "This is why you should have chosen Cyndaquil. Maybe you would be nice and warm by now." Selek didn't reply to the comment, still knowing that even though Picard may have been right, Selek still knew that training that Magikarp would be worth it in the end. Just as training the Weedle, Starly, and Gastly would be worth it as well. Selek walked, holding his arms over himself in order to keep warm as his Alakazam Daemon followed. "Of course you found it good to have Pokemon that don't like the cold that much." Selek ignored Picard, that last thing he needed is to slap his Daemon and be seen doing it again, and Picard knew this. Picard did care for Selek, but he never showed it unless he truly had to. Picard realized also that maybe it wasn't the best to protest and peck and annoy Selek, and maybe he should cut down on it. But what was the fun in that? Of course Picard wouldn't complain as much once Voyager evolved. The snow was starting to fall on the already frozen and cold ground, and the trees around them were bare, not one leaf remained.

ooc// Sure, whatever you like, it's your Eevee.
ic// As Selek and Picard walked along, the route seemed pretty lifeless. Was anything even there? Had everything gone for the winter? If so, they must be hiding somewhere. Still, perhaps he'd meet some Ice type or something like that. There was always some sort of hope, right? Look on the bright side and all that. Well, at least they had some peace and quite, not that they'd get much of it if they kept arguing.
Eventually, however, they did come across something. Covered in snow but there none the less, a red rock of some sort. It had various hole in it, each ringed in white. It didn't look like your average rock... what could it be? This was a very mysterious object indeed, so what would Selek and Picard do and how would they react?

The cold hindered Selek, and his Daemon as well. Selek for the cold weather and Picard for various things. After all, for Picard talking to Selek was torturous enough, especially with Selek ignoring him. Picard wasn't dumb, of course and he could take the hint of Selek not wishing to disturb anything and the fact he simply didn't reply. It wasn't that Picard needed a reply, after all Picard was Selek's daemon.
Selek suddenly saw the odd rock out of the corner of his eye. It wasn't that he hadn't noticed it before but now he took the time to look at it. Moving through the snow and ignoring the cold, he bent down to look at the rock, Picard behind him also interested.

As Selek and Picard bent down over the rock, something even more unusual happened. It moved. A slight noise came from inside it, a sort of tired, annoyed moaning sound. The rock shuddered, and a yellow head extended out of one of the white rimmed holes. It blinked in the daylight, looking at Selek and Picard both curiously and angrily. Ah! Not a rock, but a shell. The shell of this yellow Pokémon.
~Shuckle?~ the Pokémon grumbled, four tentacle like legs coming out some more holes. It was obviously a Shuckle at that point. They weren't too common, so Selek could count himself lucky to have met one. Unfortunately, they had a high defense thanks to their shell, and so would be tough battlers, and this one seemed to be wanting a battle. It growled at the trainer, ready for a fight.

((OOC: A Shuckle!? Yay, thanks for the blast from the past! )) Selek and Picard were obviously surprised to see a Shuckle. Of course they knew what it was, but never did either one of them expect to find one here. So of course, when the Shuckle showed signs of being completely disturbed from its sleep and annoyed at finding Selek and Picard, needless to say Picard wasn't very amused. "Of course we get to fight yet another Bug Type." Picard groaned, knowing that the strongest Pokemon they had to take one the Shuckle was Voyager. The dreaded, detested, and hated Pokemon-at least for Picard. "And I bet you're going to choose that Magikarp?" "What other choice do I have?" Selek protested, rather annoyed at Picard. After all, Shuckle were resistant to Normal and Poison attacks, which happened to be at least one type for most of Selek's team. Picard hated to admit it, but with a Shuckle to fight their best bet was sadly, the Magikarp. Oh well. Backing up from the Shuckle, Selek took out Voyager's Pokeball and summoned the flopping yellow fish. It flopped about happily, until the cold snow stung its scales. Of course in winter it would never be a good choice, but it was either that or a weakened type match-up, so at least Voyager had an advantage, no matter how slim of one it was. "I need you to focus now, Voyager. This might be a long one." Long was an understatement. "Start off with Water Gun!" Voyager flopped about, trying to even find the Shuckle. The battle would be a lot harder if the slow moving Shuckle was never hit by the inaccurate Magikarp. Still, Voyager tried after flopping about and sent a Water Gun to the thing he guessed was the Pokemon, hopefully it was the Shuckle.

Shuckle weren't very fast Pokémon, as this one found out when she attempted to dodge the Water Gun. She was hit on the shell by the attack. It was a super effective move, since she was part Rock type, but at least it had hit her on her toughest point, meaning she hadn't felt as much damage as she would have done had it hit, say, her yellow limbs. She smiled, rather pleased with herself for being able to take the hit so well. She felt she was doing quite well so far.
The red and yellow Pokémon knew that now it was time for her to make Voyager feel pain. She only knew two moves- Withdraw and Constrict- so it wasn't hard for her to choose which one to use. She sent another yellow tentacle-thing though one of the two holes on her back, whipping it out to hopefully squeeze Voyager. It wasn't a very strong move at all, but it was all she had so she might as well use it them.

Voyager flopped around, quite happy that he had hit the Shuckle, even if it had been off target. Selek was quite happy as well, but his joy didn't last long because Voyager's joy often lead to distractions. Again, this became the case as the Shuckle sent out a Constrict attack. "Voyager, dodge it!" Voyager flopped, and soon the tentacles wrapped around it. It took a moment for the poor fish to realize it had not dodged, and when that happened it instinctively did the only thing it could do-Splash.

As Shuckle withdrew her tentacle-things from Voyager, she smiled. Ah, the Magikarp was using Splash. This battle was great! She was fighting a Magikarp. True, he knew Water Gun, but he was still a Magikarp. That was handy, wasn't it? And Splash did nothing. In fact, it was pretty much just a more energetic version of Voyager's regular flopping. Shuckle was very happy about this, and so felt confindent in her chances of winning.
Voyager hadn't scored any damage on her, so Shuckle felt no need to cause any damage in response. She was perfectly satisfied with simply raising her stats a bit to make her stronger. She pulled herself back inside her shell, flashing before emerging again; a Withdraw to raise her defense stat.

Voyager flopped in panic even after the constrict had been used. Picard was growing fairly annoyed with the Magikarp, and even though Selek knew inside he felt almost the same, he wasn't going to give up on the Magikarp now. After all, what chance would Voyager have without him? And Voyager trusted Selek, Selek couldn't simply throw him away. "Voyager, the constrict already took its effect, you need to focus!" "And keep your focus for once..." Picard muttered. Voyager simply flopped in response, which made Selek assume that Voyager understood.
After the Shuckle used withdraw, which Selek knew made the Shuckle's strong defense even stronger, he called out for Voyager to use Water Gun, the only other real attack it actually had. "Voyager, use water gun on the Shuckle!" Voyager flopped about a bit, before unleashing another Water Gun. At least he was getting a little better, though it wasn't much, it was better than nothing.

Shuckle was hit again by the Water Gun. It almost hit her on her left front leg, but she wiggled it out of harm's way and it struck her shell instead. She winced, feeling the super effective pain of it. Still, her Withdraw seemed to be working. That was a good thing, at least. She'd hate to image what that would have felt like if she hadn't used Withdraw! The Bug and Rock type shuddered at that thought, but turned her attention back on the battle.
Now, Voyager was a nice and easy target. Shuckle was just thankful that he was still a Magikarp rather than one of those big scary Gyrados. Those were just nasty. Seeing the 'karp's reaction to the Contrict, Shuckle felt very pleased with herself. And, of course, she sent another Constrict his way. After all, why not? It was her only offensive move, and it seemed to be effective-ish on the Water type, so she would use Constrict.

Voyager flopped about after unleashing the Water Gun. Even though it was good that the water gun had hit, he still had trouble getting it through his head that getting exciting and loosing focus wasn't the best idea when your opponent was still quite alive. "Voyager, focus! You need to dodge!" The shiny Mgaikarp blinked and he saw the constrict coming at him. He attempted to dodge the attack by flopping but all it really did was make him an easier target as he fly in the sky for a few seconds before falling back-straight into the constrict. Voyager still tried to wiggle free of course, but it wasn't like it was going to do much at this rate.

Shuckle was expecting Voyager to attack in response to her attack, but no pain came her way. That was a good thing; it meant they'd both been hit by two attacks. Shuckle was also pretty sure that she'd been dealt a lot more damage than Voyager, but the Magikarp was reacting to it worse for whatever reason. Maybe it didn't take much to make him faint. Whatever the case, it seemed like this battle would be a long one since the two fighters weren't able to do much, although once Shuckle learned some more decent moves, she'd be a much better fighter.
The Bug and Rock type could see that she had Voyager could nicely in her tentacle things. Contrict was, unlike Wrap, a one-turn move, but she didn't feel like withdrawing those tentacles since there was no reason to. After all, she'd have only used a Constrict again. Shuckle kept her hold on Voyager, using the Contrict while doing so.

Picard sighed, becoming fairly embarrassed by the pointless fight. Selek ignored his Daemon's dislike however, and did his best to keep whatever faith he had left in Voyager alive. "Voyager, use Water Gun on the Shuckle." It was easy to see that Voyager's aim would be very off. Seeing as the fish Pokemon had no neck, the best it could do was aim for the ground. Still, it might let him escape from the Constrict, which would be a good thing. After a moments pause the Magikarp sent out its water gun, hoping at least to escape.

Voyager's Water Gun missed... at least, it missed it's target, which had of course been Shuckle's body. Instead, it struck the tentacle things tightened and tense around the Magikarp, which was somewhat painful for the partly Rock type. The super effective move sent a searing pain into her body, her reflexes meaning her tentacles shot into her shell, releasing Voyager. Of course, he was in mid-air at the time.
Shuckle was clearly weakening- a few super effective hits were always a good thing to attack an opponent with. The shelled Pokémon was aware that just one more attack might finish her off- if it was well aimed and Voyager was lucky. Shuckle extended her tentacles again, aiming another Constrict. She wouldn't keep at it this time. Instead, she would withdraw her tentacles into her shell the moment her turn was up.

Voyager hit the ground and flopped around in a panic at first. it took him a moment to realize he had escaped the constrict, and that Selek had been right in giving him orders. It also seemed like the Shuckle was about to give in. Of course, Voyager was pretty battered as well, however it was hard to tell exactly how much the fish was battered. Voyager seemed to blow his pain out of proportion for no real reason. Something Picard was ashamed of, and Selek knew he'd have to work on.
The Shuckle wasn't about to give up, and she sent out her Tentacles again in a constrict. "Voyager, send out a water gun at the Shuckle, before her attack hits you!" Voyager was slightly confused at Selek's sudden change from dodging the attacks to simply attacking before he too, was hit. Of course, since all Voyager did was flop-he sent out his water gun and the constrict had him again. Voyager still tried to squirm free, but if the water gun had missed-as Voyager's aim proved to be quite inaccurate-the constrict would hold fairly easily.
