He didn't want to be hit by this attack, after all! The chick attempted to dodge, but Drifloon's arms extended and simply dragged her back towards him. The Torchic struggled, but Drifloon was holding her pretty tight. Try as she might, she couldn't escape. Dan frowned. "Fai, you can do this! Come on, an Ember! Anything!" he called.
Fai attempted to spray a jet of flames at Drifloon from this short range, but it just didn't work. Drifloon was holding her too tight for her to be able to attack with any of her offensive moves. She was unable to suck in enough breath and heat it up, and she let out a whining squeal of frustration and pain. Hang on- she could still make sounds! She might not have been able to attack with an offensive move, but she could at least do something! The Fire type first focused on Drifloon in a Focus Energy, raising her critial hit ratio, then looked as adorable and helpless as possible, letting out a cute Growl to lower the Ghost type's attack stat.

"Don't get distracted," Mizuki warned. Too late; Drifloon's grip loosened, causing him to drop the Torchic. Constrict again; you can do this."
Drifloon moved in quickly, ready to grab and squeeze once again. It wouldn't be as strong as before, but at least it would do something.

Dan saw his oppertunity to attack here; he didn't want to take the risk of Drifloon disabling his Pokémon from attacking again so seized the chance. "Fai, quick! An Ember, before he gets you again!" he called to the Fire type chicken. She nodded, a little worried about the prospect of another Constrict, but ready to face the battle with a brave attitude.
Drifloon grabbed the Torchic just as she was finished preparing. She felt panic threaten, but she managed to keep calm and instead manged to fire an Ember attack directly into her opponent's huge face. She smiled through her beak as she felt the pain of the Contrict. She might be feeling pain now, but at least she had managed to attack. As a bonus, the the Constrict this time was hurting a little bit less than last time thanks to her Growl. Things were looking up for Fai, but would it stay that way?

Mizuki scowled at Drifloon took the hit. It was common sense that a direct hit like that would be a lot more painful than a regular hit. And that Focus Energy from earlier had made it stronger. What to do now?
"Minimize, then Constrict again," she decided. The Minimize would make it harder to hit him, and Constrict would to a bit more damage.
