I went looking for a pokemon RP site since HG/SS inspired me. It seems like a lot of other people thought the same thing, since a bunch have suddenly gotten active.

Pokemon isn't really my number one fandom... Or number two... Or number three... But it's on the list somewhere! I especially love Pokemon Special, even though I am horribly far behind in it. OTL; BACK IN MY DAY...

On the profiles, what is are those rare/uncommon/etc. ratings? n_n;

Hi, welcome! (: (I don't know how much license I have to welcome you, considering that I've just been lurking for the past month or so). Hehe. But, yay for HG/SS hype! =) As for your DA, I'll have to check it out. I have a DA too, my DA name is nocturnax. Hasn't been updated in a while though. I'm Rin, nice t'meet 'cha.

The rare/uncommon soforth ratings on profiles determine what kind of starter you can get. So, if you look at the pokemon list, there's a rating of rare/ultra rare/etc next to each of them. To get a rare-rated pokemon as a starter, your character's profile must be rated Rare or higher. Shinies are considered the next level up. For example, let's suppose my character's profile was Very Uncommon and I wanted the character to have a Squirtle as a starter. Squirtles are considered Rare, so I'd have to write some more and appeal to Birdy again to see if what I had written was enough to raise my rank. Now, if I wanted a Shiny Squirtle for my character, I'd have to write a lot more to raise my Very Uncommon to an Ultra Rare, which is what I would need for a Shiny Squirtle. XD; Whew!
