Ria had kept Tenshi out of her pokeball the whole time, so far, hoping it would get used to her, she knew it was a bit of a loner who preferred being by itself but still, maybe they could be friends. It was working slightly, or at least, Ria had seen some improvement, Tenshi would eat with them now and, whilst she used to sleep as far as Ria would let her get away from the tent, now she slept quite close next to it. In other ways the ponyta was still shy and timid, they hadn't tried battling yet but Ria hoped today could be their first battle.
They'd spent a few days at Ria's house before setting off, camping out in her tent just on the start of route 1. The night had been noisy, pokemon sounds like rustling and bird calls had sounded around them as the nocturnal pokemon travelled and forraged for food. The group had set off early, Ria in a yellow painter's smock and purple tights with black saddle shoes, Kenji clung to her back, his fur still green like Ria's hair. Tenshi looked stunning, the pale coat gleamed in the sunlight where Ria had groomed her the day before and her blue man and tail burned strongly. They paused a little way from the camp site, listening out for pokemon.

A Pokémon was, in fact, nearby. A Rock type, not well known to Route One. The truth was it was an adventerous Pokémon, and enjoyed exploring new places. Route One was definately a new place to it, and so it had decided to explore. After all, it was at the same level as most of the Pokémon here, to it stood a good chance of getting along. It had chosen not to explore places further on because then it would have likely been beaten up before it could explore properly.
As it sniffed about, it caught the scent of a human. And... a Pokémon, following after them. So, a trainer? Well, that would make a decent adventure, no? The Pokémon smiled, a determined look crossing its face. It raced after Ria's trail, soon catching up with the girl. A Pespok, a Pokémon exclusive to Enera, known for their aggression and probably a previously unheard of creature to Ria. ~Come on! Trainer, trainer, trainer! Fight me, I dare you!~ it prompted, trying to tempt her.

Wow, Ria hadn't seen a pokemon like that from watching professor Oak's show, and she'd seen quite a few there, it appeared to be a rock type, though and of a similar level to Tenshi. She turned to her starter, the pokemon looked a bit nervous and she sympathised, it must be scary for the young pokemon, "what do you think, tenshi? Want to fight? It would be good for you to become more experienced." the pokemon hesitantly moved forward to face the pespoke. "That's great," Ria grinned, "OK, try using your hypnosis to send it to sleep,"
Ponyta's eyes glowed pure white, like its coat and waves of light headed towards the rock pokemon, whispering of dreams and slumber. Ria hoped they would hit, it would be easier if the pokemon was asleep, less chance of it scaring her ponyta that way.

Pespok growled as Tenshi stepped forwards, using what appeared to be a Hypnosis attack. What? No, it did not want to be put to sleep! There was no way it was going to be falling asleep! After all, that would just make the battle boring, for both sides. How could Ria have fun if her opponent was just sitting their being hit? It would be like hitting a living punchbag, very repetative and very dull. No. Pespok did not want to ruin the battle so early on.
But what could it do? It's heart sank as it felt itself move into a slumber. Oh, that was just great. Pespok glared at Tenshi. ~Well done, you've just spoiled the battle.~ it said. Well, that hadn't been too fun; all over so quickly for it. It reminded itself never to mess with trainers again- that is, unless Ria caught it after she spent tedious moments making it defeated. Pespok felt the battle was over for itself, and it hadn't even got a single move in. Well, that was the most pointless thing it had ever experienced.

Tenshi seemed very pleased with itself, the pespok wasn't, obviously, but she's managed to make a move that wasn't suited to her type and one she wasn't very confident with, work. "Well done, Shi," Ria congratulated her, beaming at the ponyta who stamped the ground in delight. The pespok was sleeping restlessly with a scowl on its face, "Tackle it," Ria ordered, "a couple of tackle's oughta do it, don't worry if it wakes up, it doesn't look too heavily asleep so the shock might wake it."
Tenshi looked a bit more worried about that but took a few steps backwards and went to charge, lowering its head so it could hit it head-on.

ooc// I left you threads in the lab and route two to mod, by the way. If they're too much, I'll take one or both of them. Also, sorry for the short post, it's always really annoying when you're asleep cause you can't think or do anything at all.
ic// Pespok acted as a simple punchbag for Tenshi's Tackle, grunting a little in his sleep as the pain registered. He couldn't do anything while asleep, obviously, but it was clear that he didn't expect to wake up before the battle was over and that if hit hard enough he would wake up. That meant Tenshi was restricted to using gentle hits if she wanted her opponent to stay asleep, and Pespok was a very boring opponent since he couldn't react. This battle was likely to be a dull, one-sided one.

Tenshi was growing in confidence now as each move landed, this wasn't a surprise, obviously, as the pespok couldn't react but this confidence would work wonders for the shy pokemon. Ria was watching her pokemon's reaction carefully, knowing she could wake up ponyta's opponent and wondering when would be best. If another tackle was hard enough the pespok would wake up but would be on lower health, still defeatable. She nodded, that would be best, "Tenshi, tackle it hard, try and toss it upwards with your head," the pokemon nodded, sure of its abilities and backed off again, charging for another tackle, she put her head down and under the pokemon, scooping him up and tossing him into the air. Ria hoped he would land hard, enough to wake him but be a damaging blow.

Pespok was hit by the Tackle, landing hard on the ground. He woke up, looking incredibly surprised. It seemed to him that the trainer had actually intended to wake him up. How strange... maybe she wasn't the sort who just completely disabled their opponents before even daring to touch them. Hm, so maybe she actually did want an exciting battle. After all, fighting a living punchbag would do very little for Tenshi's confidence, but fighting someone who could fight back would be more entertaining and educational.
Pespok was much happier that the Ponyta had decided to allow him to fight back, although he did feel weaker from the two Tackles. Sleep had enabled him to rest a tiny bit, so despite the last one being so strong it was as if he had only been hit by two normal ones. This put him back a bit, so he needed to catch up. He decided that a good way to do this would be to lower Tenshi's stats as well as hurting her, so he flung some sand her way in a Sand-Attack. Then he rushed for her, aiming a strong Pound attack that was likely to hit.

Tenshi whimpered as the sand clogged its eyes with grit, it blinked furiously clearing a lot of it just as the pespok's pound hit home, the ponyta was knocked backwards slightly. She panicked, neighing loudly as she ran back forwards, closing the distance, showing the signs she was about to use another hypnosis. Cami shouted, "No, Tenshi, trust yourself, no more hypnosis, hit the pespok with another tackle!" The ponyta responded well to her command, her eyes stopped glowing almost instantly and she ran at her opponent instead, her head down, aiming to hit the pokemon with the hard part of her forehead.

At first, Pespok was happy and proud that he'd landed an attack. However, these feelings quickly vanished to a strong sense of dread as he saw Tenshi preparing a Hypnosis. Again? No, please, no! He was relieved, though, when she was told not too and opted for a Tackle instead. He gladly took the pain, simply pleased it wasn't another horrible sleep of death. Grunting in pain and sliding back, he quickly dug his feet in to stop himself and launched at Tenshi in another Pound. It was good to be back in the battle, even if he was constantly uneasy about whether he would be put to sleep or not.
