[With my luck, there's probably going to be a silly mistake in here somewhere. I apologize if there is; I'll change anything you point out.]
Name: Giselle Starling
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Appearance: Giselle is a little over average height, reaching to 5'7". Her build is slim but toned, with a decent amount of curves around the hip and bust area. She has charcoal colored hair cut to a little below her shoulder; it's usually pulled into a ponytail on the right side of her head, with some stray clumps hanging on the sides of her face. Her skin is a golden-tan color, partly from genetics and partly from the time she spends outdoors. Her eyes are a twilight blue color, much like the sky just before nightfall.
Most of the time Giselle is dressed in her ranger's uniform. Her shirt and pants are form-fitting, but loose enough for breathability and comfort. She has a sleeveless top, mostly black, with a strip of gold starting underneath her arms and running down each of her sides. The area of the shirt around her collar bone and neck is white with the collar going halfway up her neck; there's a zipper that runs from the tip of her shirt collar to the edge of the white area (collar-bone level), and she'll usually leave this unzipped.
Her pants are black as well, ending just below her knee in a capri sort-of cut. It has the same strip of gold running from the top of her hips and down the entire length of pants. She wears a white belt around her waist with the usual pockets and pouches for ranger equipment, and her shoes are the standard ranger-style sneakers. Giselle also has the standard ranger-style jacket as well, though hers is cut a bit longer and reaches to just above her belt. The sleeves are also full-length; she usually wears the jacket when it gets cooler. She does have a pair of gloves that she was given with her uniform, but more often than not they are packed away in one of her bags.
Also in her bags are a few changes of clothes: a few extra shirts and pants from her ranger uniform clothes, and a few casual outfits for the rare occasion that she finds herself off-duty.
Personality: Giselle has always been more of a look-before-you-leap person. When she was younger she had a tendency to get into all sorts of trouble, and would often go off on explorations in the foothills surrounding Filla City. The peace and calm of the city made a wonderful environment to grow up in, but Giselle was almost too energetic for the tranquil atmosphere.
As she got older and enrolled in the Suitay Academy her abundance of energy was focused onto her studies, and she went at them with a passion as fiery as her excitement had been towards exploration and play. When she decided to become a Pokémon Ranger her focus on her lessons were that much more determined.
At the age she is now, Giselle's personality has settled only a bit from the energetic child she once was. She still has a fierce determination towards anything she sets her mind to, and it comes with an incredible loyalty towards anyone she befriends. Her desire to be a ranger was - and still is - spurred on by her want to help people and Pokémon alike. It's also kept going by her fire for adventure. She gets particularly excited for missions that take her to new places, and looks forward to someday being raised to Top Ranger so she can look for far-away missions of her own.
Giselle is able to listen to orders and follow directions well enough; she was taught to listen to superiors during her schooling years, particularly early on when she was still a bit too energetic. That said, she is also more than capable of making her own decisions. If there was ever to come a time when she was given a mission or order that went against any of her morals, or that simply didn't set right with her, she would have no trouble disagreeing with whoever was issuing it. She's more than able to think for herself, and doesn't give any false ideas that she doesn't have the mind to do it.
She's quick-thinker as well, stemming from her look-before-leaping personality root. Now that she's been trained she is very capable of planning things out ahead of time and following through, but she'll always be who she always was and so she often does exceptionally well in situations where there isn't much time to think ahead. She's no stranger to relying on instincts, both in times of danger and in simple ever-day occurrences. Giselle also has a tendency to listen to her gut feeling on how she feels towards others upon meeting them, though she isn't one to judge and will always give people the benefit of the doubt until she knows them better.
History:Giselle was born in the city of Filla, and she had a calm and essentially care-free childhood because of it. Her parents had a starly pet just like many of the others in the town, and each of their daemons had settled into flying-type Pokémon forms. They, like many other residents of the city, were always calm and very well-mannered, and they of course worked to bring Giselle up in the same way. It worked in that she was brought up with polite manners, but the calm personality did not end up looking to be genetic at all.
The warmer days of the year often saw Giselle climbing through the foothills around the city, exploring whatever area she was able to get to, and expending any excess energy she could before being called back home for dinner and bed. When it was winter she would still go out and explore all she could, though parents made sure to bundle her up warmly and would often give her a shorter curfew than during the warmer months, as well as times of the day to check-in so they could be certain she hadn't frozen to death. Unsurprisingly, when she was younger (and particularly during the colder months) her daemon would often stay in fire-Pokémon forms.
She had all sorts of crazy ideas as a child of what she wanted to do when she was older. She wanted to be a trainer, and then she wanted to be a coordinator. There was a brief time when she wanted to be a breeder, and soon after that she simply wanted to travel the world and see everything she possibly could. Once she was old enough to start out on some sort of career choice, her parents encouraged her to join the Academy in Suitay. Her eventual choice in career was up to her, but with her bounce-about personality they thought the lessons would be good to help her find the right path.
With the stricter set of daily schedules at the academy, it didn't take more than a few reprimands for Giselle to settle down a bit. She was as energetic as ever, but the lessons in the academy were interesting enough to keep her attention, and soon a good deal of her abundance of energy was being channeled into her schooling. Anyone who met her at this time might have gotten the impression that she was a very determined, collected, maybe even generally calm student. Of course, her true personality shone through brightly enough when she turned fifteen and her daemon settled into the form of a rapidash.
As she got older her focus on her lessons gained the same fiery excitement as the explorations and play of her youth had. By now she'd decided to go through the lessons to be a Pokémon Ranger, and she was well on her way. The idea of being sent out to different locations to help people and Pokémon, possibly being sent into danger of some sort, was incredibly exciting to the girl who had always dreamed of going on adventures. She knew that a good portion of her time as a ranger would be spent at and around a single city's ranger station, or at least close by, but that was all the more incentive to be the best she could be and perhaps one day be promoted to Top Ranger.
During her training in the later stages of her being a student, she met up with a Pokémon that ended up as her companion Pokémon. She was on a training mission with a few other students, working to help a small herd of girafarig out of a thick mud near the edges of a swamp in the safari zone. When they first arrived and went to find a Pokémon to work with for the mission, Giselle used her styler on a pachirisu that was nearby. The two worked splendidly together and after the training mission the squirrel-like Pokémon decided to stay with Giselle as her companion.
Her dedication to her schoolwork certainly paid off in the long run. When she graduated at age 18 she didn't make it to the top of her class, but she was certainly up there in the top quarter of the students graduating. Though some students were assigned a city to be stationed at upon graduation, Giselle had a particular city in mind. She'd made the request to be stationed there a few months before and on the day of graduation she was overjoyed to find that she her request had gone through.
Giselle was to be stationed at Firaka City. Of course a part of her had considered requesting to be stationed at her home town, but there was always the chance of visiting her family at home if she ever got too homesick. Firaka was the place for her - and her daemon couldn't agree more. There was the hustle and bustle of tourists, the energetic performers jumping all through the streets, and all sorts of excitement that anyone passing through might think were never-ending. The temperature was much nicer than her home-town winters as well, and Giselle's daemon was very content to stay in such a warm climate.
Since being stationed at Firaka she'd been given plenty of missions, usually within a decent proximity to the city her station was at. However, anyone who knew Giselle even slightly well knew that, as content as she was with her career in Firaka, what she really wanted to do was get out in the world and explore. A few months after she'd turned 21, she was going to be given such a chance.
There had recently been a news report from the Ruins of Ranjou about a new discovery of Pokémon. The situation had turned dangerous fairly quickly, judging by watching the announcement, and the verdict was that the Pokémon which escaped from the ruins were likely to show up in just about any of the cities. Stations from all over were pitching in a ranger or two to send out and investigate, and Firaka's station chose to send out Giselle. She was one of the better rangers that they had at their station, and her determination to get out in the world was geared towards situations just like the one that had come up.

Name: Pyrrhus
Form: Rapidash
Appearance: For the most part Pyrrhus looks like a normal rapidash. He does have extra markings from the normal Pokémon, however. His eyes are the same color as Giselle's eyes. His muzzle is colored in the same charcoal-black as Giselle's hair, and the color goes up between his eyes, surrounding the base of his horn, and disappears under his mane. His horn is the same charcoal-black. He has the colored fur on his legs as well; each of the four is colored in the black from the knees down. His hooves, too, are the color of charcoal.
Most of the time Pyrrhus has a leather bridle on. It doesn't restrict his movement in any way, and there isn't any sort of bit attached to his mouth at all. The leather straps wrap around his forehead just above his horn, as well as going behind his ears on the back of his head. Another strap wraps around the center of his muzzle. The main (and really, only) reason he wears the muzzle is so that Giselle has something to hold onto when she is sitting on his back.
When they are traveling (which they're bound to do quite a lot of now), there's also a set of saddle bags resting across his back just behind where Giselle sits. They aren't actually attached to a saddle though, since Giselle always rides bareback. Most of the equipment is necessities - clothing, medicine, food rations, and a water canteen which is attached on the outside so Giselle can easily access it.
Personality: For the most part Pyrrhus' personality is very much in line with Giselle's. They have the same fiery determination, and the same abundance of energy. He's always had a bit more of a thoughtful personality than Giselle though, even at a younger age. If he thinks that an idea of Giselle's might not be the best or safest he has no qualms with saying so, and the same goes when they are choosing with route to take on their travels; Pyrrhus has no problem with simply taking a different direction than what Giselle has chosen if he thinks the way looks safer.
The slight difference in personality actually makes for quite the perfect pair (which would be obvious enough anyway, considering that Pyrrhus is the embodiment of her soul). There are times when the two may seem to be bickering over one thing or another, but they never get into any sort of real argument. More often than not any bickering between them is due to Giselle disagreeing with Pyrrhus' disagreement.
Extra in General: Some random pictures made during procrastination, if anyone's interested. Not the best (and my style's a lot different than the pokemon style), but meh, I got bored and excited about the characters.
