Duskull stayed true to form; he avoided this first attack by simply phasing underground for a moment, popping up a moment later precisely where he had been a moment before.
"That's something I might have to work on," Jax said, shaking his head, "That whole routine of ducking underground is getting old really fast... and it's predictable. All right Duskull, you know what to do," he called, and Duskull suddenly seemed to multiply; a variation on the Night Shade attack. It only lasted for a moment, but the effect was most disturbing, startling even Jax and Gareth, who had never seen Duskull do anything quite like it before.

Birdy//♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ooc// I don't think Night Shade multiplies the user...
ic// Jane didn't really think that moving into the ground was fair- it didn't seem like it was right to do that without the move Dig. Rory didn't think so either, the Skarmory letting out a terrible metallic screech like nails on a blackboard as he swooped back up again, watching as Duskull used the Night Shade. The Steel type bird wasn't going to be hit after his opponent had dodged, and easily dipped his wings, dropping a few feet while the Night Shade shot harmlessly over his head.
"Rory, try that Peck again!" Jane called. The Skarmory nodded, but first decided to give Duskull a little extra just for dodging him. The bird locked eyes with him, his eyes beginning to glow a little in the defense-lowering Leer. He then let out a loud battle cry which was enough to make a person shiver right down to their bones, as he began to swoop even faster than before in the Peck. Skarmory had a surprisingly high speed stat, and this one was going all-out with a strong, accurate and likely to hit Peck.

(OOC* It was only for an instant; barely long enough to register that the images were there.)
Duskull zoomed to the right, trying to evade the attack. The Skarmory's beak scraped his side, however, doing minimal damage, but throwing the aim of his next Night Shade off slightly; the attack, intended to hit the Skarmory in the chest, went wild, and threatened to hit the metallic bird in the head.
"Oh dear," Gareth said, frowning, as the Skarmory's beak made its mark, "Duskull is at something of a disadvantage in this battle." "Not the time!" Jax ground out, focussed entirely on the battle.

Birdy//♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ooc// Do you mind making more attacks hit? Only every single turn it's always a miss or 'minimal damage', when Skarmory are about three times as fast as Duskull and have a high attack. In case you didn't know, it takes about five hits to take out a Pokémon here, so you don't have to worry about your Pokémon fainting so soon.
ic// Rory still wasn't satisfied, despite having hit Duskull; the Peck hadn't been a damaging one, and so he hadn't been able to let loose the anger inside him. He watched as the Night Shade came closer, a plan hatching in his mind. Since he had been Jane's starter Pokémon, he knew an egg move. He decided that whatever his trainer said, he would use it, and he wanted it to be strong. He tried to dodge, but the Night Shade hit, crying out in pain as it knocked him a few feet lower in the air. He looked to his trainer, nodding to her. Jane could see what he meant, so called out, "Rory, Pursuit!"
Rory smiled. Pursuit was a Dark type move- super effective against Duskull- and a strong one, too. It was as accurate as a Peck, which was pretty accurate. Plus, his base speed stat was 70, while a Duskull's was merely 25, meaning that he should be able to outpace the Ghost every time. Of course, it would have been nicer if his Pecks had all dealt damage, but supposed that you couldn't have everything. With any luck, the Pursuit would make up for it. Rory dove for his opponent, the Pursuit looking like a strong and powerful move thanks to his high attack, high anger, speed and its super effectiveness.

"Aw nuts!" Jax spluttered, taken off-guard by the attack, "Duskull! Avoid it!" "Sku!" the ghost exclaimed, zooming backwards. Unfortunately, the attack caught him full in the face anyway. However, he launched another Night Shade as he was hit, meaning that the skarmory was at extremely close range when the attack was launched. "Dangit!" Jax muttered, "Calling him back's no good; Pursuit does double damage against a retreating Pokemon."

Rory smiled as he landed his first proper hit of the battle, and about time two; the Pursuit and Duskull's Night Shade had been the fourth turn of the battle, and it wasn't too fair that the slower Pokemon should get two hits in before the speedy Rory made one, was it? The Night Shade was attempted to be dodged, but since he had just attacked his momentum was gone and Rory couldn't dodge in time, crying out in pain as the move hit. While he was feeling weak, Duskull's one hit taken might have weakened him a fair bit but probably not as much as Rory. Jane could see the danger in Pursuit so called "Use a Peck, Rory!"
Rory nodded, knowing that with a Peck he would be able to move in and out without putting himself at too much of a risk of being attack like he had been just now with the Pirsuit. He gave his wings two powerful beats to get him just a little bit higher, then swooped quickly down at Duskull, beak ready to use Peck before swiftly curving back upwards. It hoped it would be able to get a good hit with this one, and looked like he might, although some of the move's power had been sacrificed to make it faster.

"Skull," Duskull growled, hurling another Night Shade before the attack could hit; whether his attack hit or missed, the Peck smacked into his face. It was well armoured, fortunately, but the damage was still severe; his skull mask cracked, and he yelped.
"Ouch," Jax said, wincing, "That had to hurt. Try to avoid the next one, Duskull," he added, getting a vague nod from the ghost.

This time, it was very obviously Duskull who had come off worse for once. Rory's Peck had dealt a powerful hit, and the Night Shade had been dodged for once, Rory swooping past it. He now had a smile on his face, quite pleased with himself for managing to do so well this turn. Still, this had been going on for some time now, and Rory was growing tired. Of course, it could see very clearly that Duskull was tired too, but he was more concerned about his own tiredness. He reckoned about two more attacks would finish him off, although if Duskull used some sort of strategy it might only be one. Jane called out Rory's next move, "Pusuit, Rory! We can do this!"
Rory was pretty determined to win, but it took action as well as feelings to win a fight. He was glad to be using his super effective egg move, since that gave him a better chance of beating his opponent. Still, there was a problem; the Pursuit had him vunurable, and although Rory had been too impatient for attacking so this move didn't look too likely to hit, while he was moving in for attack or miss Duskull might be able to push him away with one of his attacks.

Duskull moved rapidly backwards, causing the metal bird's claws to scrape along the ground, nullifying the move. "Skull!" Duskull said angrily, turning invisible and projecting an enormous image of himself into the space between himself and Rory; this was another variation of Night Shade, although it was the more conventional one. "OOOOOooooooo," the image said eerily, swinging an arm through Rory. Like most Ghost-type attacks, this was focussed on the opponent's psyche, as Ghost-types rarely had much of a body to interact with the world.
An instant later, the image faded, and Duskull blinked back into visibility with a popping noise.

Birdy//♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Jane had seen that Rory's move had been a little rushed, and so wasn't too surprised when he fell short of his target. The bird wasted no time in remaining there; he didn't want to get hit, after all. Still, he'd turned his back to his opponent, leaving him open and depite what he thought vunerable. He thought that by instatnly flying away, he would avoid attack; in fact, it was quite the opposite. If he had remained facing Duskull, he would have seen the Night Shade coming and so would have been able to dodge with ease.
What actually happened was that the Night Shade caught Rory from behind. The metallic bird squawked in surprise as the move struck, tumbling to the ground. The tired Steel type hit the ground with a thud that made even Jane wince, where he struggled for a moment before relaxing, fainting. Jane sighed, returning her Pokémon before looking back at her opponent and smiling. "Well done, again. Are you going to switch Pokémon or not? I promise not to use any type advantages." she nodded; Duskull was tired, after all, and she didn't want to choose a Pokémon only to find Jax was giving her a type advantage or disadvantage.

"Duskull, that's enough," Jax said, holding out the Ghost's pokeball. He vanished in a flash, and disappeared into his ball. "Cyril..." he said, pausing for a moment to look at the legendary that hovered beside him, "You're up. Do your best." "Ehbi!" Cyril said, nodding, jumping forwards so that he stood looking up at Jane. "It's your turn," Jax said, inclining his head to Jane, "Just remember that promise."

Birdy//♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Jane's eyes widened in shock as she saw that Jax's next Pokémon was Cyril- a Celebi. A Celebi! Her hand itched to take a picture to proove to her friends that she had battled a legendary Pokémon, but she didn't in case the trainer didn't want that to happen. Instead, she just smiled and nodded, reassuring him that she'd keep her promise. After all, it was better practice for Pokémon to fight Pokémon they had no advantage against, since that way they didn't rely on their types.
"Let's go, Ellie! Tackle!" she called, throwing the Pokéball of a reasonably normal Pokémon. An Electrike, and a female one at that. Ellie snarled, fur bristling and teeth bared as she prepared her attack. However, as she realised what her opponent was, she paused, stunned. Was there some mistake? She knew there were a number of normally powerful legendaries that came from the original ones, but she'd never thought she'd see one. She shook herself; the battle must go on. Ellie launched herself for Cyril, the Electric type using a strong Tackle at her opponent.

Like all Celebi, Cyril might have been small, but he was extraordinarily fast; he zipped right up into the air, instinctively dropping seeds at Ellie as she went past below. Her tail bumped Cyril's foot in the way past; although he wasn't paralyzed, he did feel the static charge, which caused his foot to jerk slightly.
"By careful, Cyril," Jax warned, "Make sure to stay out of her way!" "Ribi!" Cyril confirmed, zooming backwards, then hovering in place, looking down at Ellie. "Let's try a Confusion," Jax said, grinning slightly. The attack, however, didn't come; Cyril was a little too distracted to pull it off just now.

Birdy//♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Ellie snarled in disappointment and annoyance as her attack missed, baring her teeth. Electrike were reasonably speedy Pokémon, but Celebi were a little bit faster. Still, it wasn't by all that much and so she would probably get a few good hits in. Jane could see that Cyril was a first time battler by the way he was distracted by dodging, and called out "Thunder Wave!" quickly. She knew that Cyril was fast, yes, but being paralyzed should slow him down considerably. As the Leech Seed came down, Ellie was a litte puzzled as to what it was. Luckily, since Cyril was moving, his attack hadn't been too accurate and so missed by a centimetre, the teeniest amount of energy making its way from Ellie to Cyril but with no lasting affect.
Ellie nodded, smile returning as she saw what her trainer was aiming for. The Electric type dog bounced from one foot to the other in anticipation, then let loose her attack. The Thunder Wave streaked through the air, lighting up the battle a little bit even though it was daytime as it moved towards its target. Since this was a long-range move, it was likely to hit despite Cyril being a distance away. It wouldn't cause him any damage, however, something which might be able to be played to his advantage.

(OOC* The dropped seeds were a Leech Seed attack, Birdy. That has not been resolved yet. I cant answer until you resolve that attack.)
