One more attack should finish it off, Abby thought to herself. This had been a tough fight, but it looked like it was going to be worth it.
Moon was unable to dodge the Vacuum Wave; his last attack missing had caught him off guard. "One more hit should do it; Tackle again!"
Managing to get back up, Moon charged at the weakened Scyther once again.

Scyther gave a weak smile as it saw that its Vacuum Wave had hit, feeling a surge of hope. This hope was quickly drained and vanished as it clearly saw that Moon was still on his feet. Oh. It supposed that in that case, it would not be winning. What a shame. It had really hoped it would be able to defeat this trainer, to feel a rush of strength as levels were gained, to look at the fainted opponent before dashing off mysteriously into the woods... but no. Scyther was about to get a taste of its own medicine.
Scyther watched Moon the Skitty charge towards it, frowning. This was it, then. The move that would defeat it at last. The Bug type wanted to dodge. Its honour, pride, everything, was at stake here. Scyther zipped to one side- and Moon's line of Tackle curved. Scyther scowled. Too early, not good. Panting, the Pokémon attempted to dodge when the cat was closer and would not be able to dodge, but that failed. The Scyther was hit, and collapsed. It was defeated.
Scyther was defeated! Moon gains two levels!

"Yes! Well done, Moon!" Arthur praised.
"Thank you," Moon replied, panting slightly. That had been a tough battle, but he had pulled through.
Abby was smiling; that was a good sign. She removed a Pokeball from her bag and tossed it at the Scyther. Vacuum Wave would be a great move to use in contests; she just needed to find a way to make it creative.
"Gr... eat..." she managed to say.

The Pokéball surrounded the Scyther in red light, drawing the Bug type inside. The Pokéball, after taking Scyther inside, fell to the ground and began shaking as the strong Pokémon began to fight against capture. Eventually, however, Scyther began to grow tired, and the shaking slowed. The shaking grew less and less, until finally Scyther was caught. The process took almost a minute, meaning it had only just barely been caught. Abby was lucky to have caught it.
Scyther was caught! Continue to Route Two?

Abby smiled as she picked up the Pokeball. "Well done, both of you," Arthur complimented.
"Thank you," Abby thought back. "So how about we call this one Razor?" she suggested.
"It's definitely a fitting name. Alright then; we'll call him Razor." Arthur replied.
Abby smiled, but then noticed how dark it had gotten. "We'll rest here for the night, then move on in the morning," she decided, getting out her sleeping bag and recalling her Pokemon.

The next morning, Abby found a strange Pokeball next to her head. Arthur examined it carefully, noticing the card. "It says 'Dear Abby. Have a wonderful Christmas. From, Santa.' This is your Christmas present!" he realized.
Curious, Abby opened the Pokeball. Her eyes widened with wonder as she looked at the Pokemon before her. "She... She's beautiful..." she gaped, looking over the shiny Lapras from top to bottom. "Aurora. I'm going to call her Aurora," she decided.
"Alright then; welcome to the team, Aurora!" Arthur greeted.
Aurora smiled at the two as Abby recalled her. She needed to get a fresh start on Route 2, after all!
