Damien, Jet, and Drago finally came to the entrance of Route One. However, the reason as to why they took so long, was because Damien was not paying attention to where he was going, and crashed into a few things, much to the annoyance of Jet. "Damien, you really should learn to watch where you are going. Man, you are such a kid." said Jet as they walked along the route. Damien scratched the back of his head and replied, "Yeah? Well at least I am young at heart, unlike someone I know. Eh, I'll start paying attention to what is in front of me from now on, once I learn advanced quantum physics." Jet glared at Damien as he noticed the sarcasm in his partner's voice. Drago, who was watching the exchange in front of him, wondered if it was always going to be like this. Damien and Jet continued to bicker as the trio walked along the route.

An undersized dog was padding his way along the route. The Poochyena heard the human argueing with his daemon, and wondered why. He wished desperately he had a daemon, so why was the human argueing with his? His soul on the outside, unable to get too far away without hurting, always there for him, forever and ever... that would be wonderful.
Poochyena growled at the human, making himself in plain view of the boy. He would teach him a lesson! Poochyena lowered his head, fur standing on end, and a furious snarl ripped through his bared pointed teeth. A traditional pose of battle. It looked like Damien had his first challenger.

Damien and Jet stopped arguing once the Poochyena came into view. Grinning from ear to ear, Damien said, "All right, finally a Pokemon to battle. All right Drago, time for our first battle. Let's begin!" Drago grinned as well as he jumped in front of the Poochyena, showing his own impressive row of teeth. Seeing the battle about to take place, Jet said, "Damien, remember what your father taught you about battling. And remember this is a low level battle, so all of those attacks that your dad's Pokemon had do not apply here." Damien nodded, and for once turned serious, and said," Right Jet, don't worry I remember. Now lets start things off. Drago, use Rage!" Drago nodded and prepared to use the attack.

Poochyena howled as the human seemed to accept the challenge of battle. A fight! A fight! If he beat the human, did that make him a daemon? Or get a daemon? Or did that happen another way? Only one way to find out... FIGHT! (ooc//Yay Harry Hill quotes.)
Mr. Bagon's Rage sent pain shooting through Poochyena's body, but that wasn't about to stop him. It seemed the human didn't know Mr. Bagon's name even though he owned one- how hilarious! Well, Rage attack wasn't the most powerful of attacks. Poochyena retaliated with a Tackle.

Damien grinned as Drago pulled off the move. Jet, however, stood next to Damien watching the battle impassively. "Damien, remember, always expect the unexpected." said Jet. After hearing this, Damien thought of something. Glancing towards Jet, Damien said, "Ya know what? That just gave me an idea. Drago sidestep to the left and use Rage on the Poochyena as it passes." Drago nodded and waited for the Poochyena to get close enough to dodge.

Poochyena skidded to one side as the unexpected dodge then led into a Rage attack. Okay, it definately hadn't seen that coming. No way could it have been ready, right? It was allowed! Argh! Poochyena barked in frustration as it regained it's footing. It would not- could not- lose to this human's pet! Poochyena used the momentum from the Rage to swing his body weight around, then added some running. It's running faster than before thanks to using Rage to it's advantage, Poochyena was approaching in a Tackle, and fast.

Damien inwardly grinned as the Rage attack connected. 'Perfect, they always say that anger clouds the mind. Now he should have trouble making coherent strategies. Now, we take him out,' thought Damien as he watched the battle. "Alright Drago, dodge the tackle attack and use Bite as it passes." ordered Damien. Drago nodded and watched the speeding Poochyena come towards him as he prepared to dodge. Jet, still on the sidelines, was impressed with Damien's performance. 'Good job Damien. You are finally becoming a top-notch trainer. Of course I won't tell you that directly. Don't want you getting to confident.' Jet thought as he watched the battle.

Poochyena was prepared for Damien to use the same tactic again, and so acted as though it hadn't learned it's lesson. When Drago moved to one side, Poochyena, being faster than more sturdy and hard Bagons, leapt over the Pokemon's rock-hard head and landed on the other side, unscathed by any Bite attacks. It smirked, then bared it's teeth and growled. The growl became louder and more furious, until a blood-curdling howl pierced the battle. This Howl raised Poochyena's attack power, to be used on another Tackle attack.

Damien grimaced as the Bite attack missed the Poochyena. Once he heard the Howl attack, Damien knew that now was the time to dodge first and attack later. 'Darn it. That Howl will prove very troublesome for us. Goody. Now what to do, what to do... I know! Hang on Drago, we are not out of this yet.' thought Damien as he realized a strategy. "Drago, I want you to plant your feet and try to hold your position. Once the Poochyena nears, grab it and use Bite. Be careful." ordered Damien, confident in Drago's abilities. Drago prepared to hold his position and waited for the Tackle to near.

Poochyena's smirk returned as it saw the Bagon standing before him. The idiot. Poochyena would crash right into him, and then they'd see who deserved a daemon, right?! Well, the puppy didn't quite realise the strategy. A little thick in the head to make up for the strength the hardy Poochyena held. When it made impact, it thought it had done it's job of hurting Drago (which it had, but worse was yet to come, just not for Drago) so Poochyena tried to brake off and walk away. However, the dragon held fast. No matter how hard the dog Pokemon struggled, it could not break free... then the Bite attack came. Ouch.

Damien and Jet grinned as the Poochyena fell right into the trap. Then the Bite attack came. "Boo ya! Now that is what I'm talking about Drago! Hang onto the Poochyena and keep using Bite. Time to show this puppy what we are made of!" said Damien as he punched his fist into the air. Jet, meanwhile, turned stoic once again and analyzed the puppy. 'Well, well, well, it seems that this Poochyena is a little thick in the head. As long as Damien keeps using different strategies, he should have this in the bag. Of course I won't tell that to Damien. As a trainer he has to figure these things out on his own.' thought Jet as he continued to watch the battle.

Poochyena whimpered as it flailed to break free from Drago's clamped jaws, but the Bagon wasn't giving way anytime soon. The puppy's four legs wriggled helplessly as it dangled from those vicious fangs, struggling with no success. Poochyena let out a wailing almost-howl bark of dispair, for it believed that this was the end. It had lost. It would be captured and enslaved forever to work in the mines of the Evil Wizard. It would never get a daemon. Ever. That last thought made the Poochyena growl, then before it knew it, a fully fleged Howl attack was making it's way from the Pokémon's thoat, giving it the motovation it needed to break free and leap over to a tree, where Poochyena turned around, snarling.

Damien was watching the battle impassively on the outside; however, on the inside he was grinning like a maniac. 'Boo ya! That's the way to battle Drago! All right, enough complimentin' and more battlin'.' thought Damien as he continued to watch the battle. Jet continued to watch the battle thinking of what Damien was doing wrong and right. Damien then shouted out to Drago and said, "Drago, charge forward and use Bite! Be careful though, if it attacks, dodge. I don't want you to take any unnecessary damage." Drago nodded and charge forward ready to Bite the Poochyena.

ooc// By the way, Drago has to get hit more than once this battle, he can't just dodge everything, it's not fair.
ic// Poochyena was furious. Why did that moron keep shouting 'Boo ya?' Was he really that unimaginative? And the Bagon hadn't taken any attacks at all this battle, how could something with a terrible Speed stat dodge every time? Why would it need to, anyway; Bagon had a high Defense stat! It was so frustrating, Poochyena almost ran as far away as possible! He was pretty annoyed, but he couldn't give up. That would make him a wimp. Of course, even the toughest of Pokémon fled if they knew they couldn't win, which is what Poochyena would do if it's next few attacks missed. It hardly seemed fair; a Pokémon built for speed was hit on every turn, but the Pokémon made for slow but steadiness didn't take anything? Poochyena would change that.
Poochyena darted past the Bite as a blur, easily outpacing the slower Pokémon, especially with this rush of anger, hatred, determination, frutration, and above all adrenalin. It circled the Bagon several times, again and again, leaping high and crawling low to disorientate him, never slowing his pace. All the while it grew steadily closer. If Drago left the circle of Poochyena, it would find itself caught by the Tackle it was spinning in. Then it darted forward, still a blur, the strongest, fastest attack it had ever used. Poochyena couldn't be more than two levels lower than Drago, so there would hardly be a difference in power of their Tackles (or Rages or Bites). All Poochyena's fury was thrown into this Tackle, and it was faster than the robust Bagon would really be able to dodge.

ooc: Right, I won't have him dodge anymore.
ic: Damien was beginning to get dizzy from watching the Poochyena darting all over the place. After reorienting himself with his surroundings, Damien was finally able to watch the Poochyena. Of course this was all a little to late. Seeing the Poochyena speeding towards Drago, Damien knew that his Bagon would never be able to dodge that attack. Gritting his teeth in anger, Damien tried to calm himself. After all, in battle one must always be calm and collected. Getting a grip of his emotions, Damien shouted out at the last possible second, "Drago! Meet that Poochyena head on with a Bite attack!" Drago nodded and prepared to charge forward with the Bite attack.
