Poochyena gave a yelping cheer as it's attack struck it's mark nicely. Yes! At last! Maybe this battle wasn't so impossible after all. That daemon could be his! The deluded dog was too busy convincing itself that it would get a daemon for defeating Damien that it didn't notice Drago charging towards it. The force of the dragon's jaws sent it sprawling on the ground, howling in pain as pointed inscisors pierced it's soft flesh. It shook Drago off, then got to it's feet. Panting heavily, Poochyena began to make a more slower Tackle. There was a higher chance of Drago dodging this one, if he moved early, and it looked as though a few more attacks would finish the worn out dog off.

Damien winced as Drago took the full brunt of the attack. Of course, this expression quickly turned into a grin as the Bagon used Bite on the Poochyena. Seeing the Poochyena preparing to charge forward, Damien quickly thought of a strategy, 'All right, Drago can dodge this attack if he moves early enough. Now it seems that the Poochyena is focusing on one thing. This could be troublesome.' Damien then shouted out, "Drago, because of your defense you can take this attack. As the Poochyena nears, dig your feet into the ground and grab onto the Poochyena and use Bite. Be careful!" Drago gulped and dug his feet into the ground as the Poochyena neared him.

Poochyena gave a gruff bark of triumph as it neared Drago. Yes... this would work, it would actually work! He strained himself to move faster and hit harder despite his laboured breathing. As he neared even closer, about to hit the enemy, pain shot through it. The Bagon had it in his jaws, and as much as Poochyena struggled, desperately trying to get free, it was useless. Bagon were slow, but the make up for it in power and defense. The already weak Poochyena punched and kicked Drago several times in a final effort, then fell limp; fainted.

Damien grinned as the Poochyena finally fainted. "Awesome! Great job, Drago!" The Bagon nodded his head and dropped the fainted Poochyena onto the ground. It then proceeded to walk over to Damien's side, and waited to see what his trainer would do next. Jet, who was silent for most of the battle, decided to say something, "Damien, are you gonna catch it?" To this Damien nodded his head, and took an empty Pokeball out of his pocket, and said quietly, "You put up a valiant effort Poochyena. It will be an honor to train you." After he said this, Damien hurled the Pokeball toward the fallen Poochyena.

Poochyena vaguely heard something about 'train you'. It tried to stretch it's pained face into a smirk, but wasn't sure if it succeeded or not. Even in losing, it would win experience and a loving slave trainer! The Pokéball absorbed it. That came as a bit of a shock, and the puppy struggled a little until it relaxed and rested. A soft ping resounded in the outside world.
Poochyena was caught!

Damien grinned as he heard the soft 'ping' sound. Damien walked over to Pokeball and picked it up, still grinning like a maniac. "All right! Woo Hoo! We caught a Poochyena! I'll call you Fang." exclaimed Damien as he jumped up into the air. Pocketing the Pokeball, he turned to Drago and Jet and said, "Great job Drago! Jet, I'm sorry for bickering with you earlier. How about we put that behind us?" Jet nodded his head and said, "Yeah, lets do that. Anyways, congratulations on a battle well done." Damien grinned and said, "Thanks! Anyways lets keep going down the Route." Damien, Jet, and Drago continued down the Route ready for anything.

An Oddish made it's way along the scene at the end of Route One. The trees of the next route lay just beyond it, in fact, and the Grass type hadn't noticed Damien yet. She waved her leafy head, trotting along happily.

ooc: Don't worry about it. Seems perfectly fine to me. Also, I am going to introduce the Pokemon I got from the Shiny Giveaway in this post.
Damien, Jet, and Drago were walking along the route when Jet saw the Grass-type Pokemon, Oddish. "Hey Damien, there is an Oddish up ahead. I think that you should battle it. I think that you should battle it and possible catch it. It can be an extremely helpful Pokemon to have in battle." pointed out Jet. Damien nodded and said, "Yeah your right. And I know just the Pokemon to use for this. Remember when we left for our journey and we bumped into Dad? Well during that meeting he gave me a Pokemon. I figure now is the time to use it." said Damien as he took out a mysterious Pokeball. "Phoenix, come on out!" cried out Damien as a Shiny Torchic flashed into existance. The Shiny Torchic, Phoenix, stretched its muscles and looked at its trainer. Damien grinned and said, "All right Phoenix, go up to that Oddish over yonder and use Growl." Phoenix nodded and charged towards the Oddish preparing to growl at the Grass-type.

ooc// Oops, I almost forgot, Drago gained two levels for defeating Poochyena. ic// Oddish jumped about a foot in the air at the sudden sound. Woah, she hadn't been expecting that! The Oddish's attack trickled down a little, and the Pokémon realised that the growling must have been a Growl attack. So, a battle? Where was this foe? Chickening out and hiding? Oh. The foe was unseen, but when Oddish caught a glimpse of it, she realised he really was a chicken. A Torchic, to be exact. How ironic.
Oddish spied a trainer standing nearby. She tried to growl defensively, with very little success. Then, bubbles of green shot from her leafy 'hair' and shot towards Phoenix- Absorb. Not the most powerful of attacks, but Grass types mainly focused on lowering or raising stats and this was the only offensive move she knew.

Damien grinned as Phoenix successfully used the Growl attack on the Oddish. Then came the Absorb. Damien gritted his teeth in anger before realizing that the Grass-type attack would do little damage against a Fire-type like Phoenix. Grinning, Damien called out, "Phoenix, ignore any Absorb attacks charge forward and use Scratch on the Oddish." Phoenix nodded and charged in to attack the Oddish. Jet was standing on the sidelines with Drago right next to him. Watching the battle, he thought, 'This will be a good battle, as long as Phoenix tries to dodge one or two of the Absorb attacks.'

Oddish was pleased with herself for successfully hitting Phoenix with the Absorb, oblivious to the fact that the Absorb didn't do much more than sting and weaken for a Fire type. The bead of Phoenix' energ returned to her, then she felt raking claws along her bulbous body. She winced, then the trickle of energy-beads entered. Her lost HP gained by around a third of what was lost, she felt she needed to heal a little more. The Oddish endeavoured to make this Absorb powerful enough to recover all that health. The beads that left this time did not seem strong enough to do this, but there were enough to mean that this would be more powerful that last time.

Damien grinned before remembering the second effect of Absorb. Gritting his teeth in anger, Damien decided that now was the time to use guerilla warfare. Calling out to Phoenix, Damien said, "Phoenix! Dodge the Absorb than use Scratch. Then immediately jump back." Jet listened to Damien order and thought, 'He's utilizing guerilla warfare, eh? That's a good tactic for a speedy Pokemon like Phoenix here. This probably would not work well with any slow Pokemon. I'll keep this in mind for another time.' Phoenix heard his trainer's order and liked the sound of it. After all he could attack then retreat and only get minimal damage.

Oddish didn't understand what jumping back would do to the Scratch. Phoenix wouldn't be hurt by his own Scratch, after all. But as for the Pokémon dodging the Absorb... that was smarter, but still... Oddish would have combined attacks with dodging, to make a smoother proccess with more momentum. The leafy Pokémon tried it now. ~Diii-iish!~ she cried as she sent out another wave of Absorb attack, using the force from it to push herself back, and out of Phoenix' path, replacing the spot where she had been with a bunch of Absorbs. Some of them moved to meet Phoenix earlier.

Damien grimaced as the Oddish released a barrage of Absorbs. Knowing that a few were going to hit Phoenix no matter what he did, Damien knew what he had to do. "Phoenix! Charge forward and dodge as many Absorb attacks as possible. While dodging the Absorb attacks, move forward towards the Oddish. Once you get close enough, use Scratch as many times as possible. So basically dodge, move forward, and attack with Scratch." ordered Damien. Phoenix nodded as he processed the information and after getting it, Phoenix prepared to dodge the Absorb attacks.

Oddish was, to be honest, growing a little bored of this perticular game. Phoenix's moves were so boring, all the same. Dodge, Scratch. Oddish would use another Absorb. Phoenix would dodge and use Scratch. Then it would be repeated. Well, Oddish would turn it all around! She used her attack, Absorb, again, this time before Phoenix's attack. The Torchic was too busy dealing with the first round, and was hit.
Ah, right, the Scratch bit. The bit Oddish wasn't so good at. She waddled to one side, but Torchic were faster Pokémon than the rotund Oddish. Good thing she didn't know any contact attacks like Tackle. Phoenix twisted around and struck her.
