Blade leaned back against a tree, looking out at the darkened woods that made up the next route. Avartiath was silent, for once, staring into the campfire. Fyren was fast asleep; one paw had strayed into the fire, but the fiery hound didn't seem to care. Zigz had fallen asleep while exploring Blade's spare sleeping bag, and was snoring quietly.
Blade formed an Aura Sphere over his palm, still staring out into the night. The sphere hummed quietly as it sat in the air, not doing anything at all aside from glow and hum.

In the quiet of the night the sound of laughter could now be heard, coupled with rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs, it was getting steadily louder. Two pokemon emerged from the undergrowth, a fairly common sight here, a rattata, and less common, a misdreavus who hovered above the ground. Misdreavus playfully flew through the rattata, its ghost form not doing any damage, nor did it mean to, rattata shivered, its fur standing on end then used a tackle attack on its friend in return. This just served as another drop into an icebucket for the normal type who's physical move passed right through misdreavus. The tackle brought him closer to the trainer and his makeshift camp, straightening up and still shivering the rattata spotted the aura sphere and moved towards it, transfixed. Misdreavus swooped down, putting herself between rattata and the light which was acting as a magnet for the smaller pokemon. The rattata shook itself and sat down, the light no longer affecting him, the pair weren't worried by the party here and moved closer to the fire, turning so their backs were to it. It seemed to warm them and they watched the trainer who could make these strange light circles, curious but unafraid.

Blade paid the pair no mind, staring into the rapidly-spiralling depths of the sphere. This was not one of his calming meditations, nor was he contemplating anything; he was simply trying to pick out as much detail in the rapidly-changing form of the sphere as he could.
Fyren blinked sleepily, awakening because of the noise the Ratatta generated. "'fya wanna stay here," he mumbled, "Jus' s'ay quiet so we can sleep."

The misdreavus drifted silently, passing through the trainer's back and re-appearing beneath the sphere, staring up through it. Curious, she reached up, trying to pass a ghostly hand through the ball of light, not sure what would happen.
Her friend, the small rattata, was being more mischievous than misdreavus herself, he wasn't used to trainer's ignoring him and decided to get the attention of his pokemon instead. It butted the sleeping zigzagoon with its head, trying to rouse the pokemon so they could play. He hit it again as the snoring continued, wanting someone to chase him around, dying to show off his impressive speed. He flinched backwards, thinking the pokemon had woken up and fell backwards, nearly into the fire but, instead, he fell against the sleeping houndour. The rattata jumped away, sure he'd woken up the fire hound and he grew more afraid, he was familiar with the zigzagoons but not of these, pokemon who could breathe fire. The confident pokemon cowered back, still wanting to play but not sure he'd win a game against a more powerful oponent.

The Aura Sphere, being from the Fighting Type, wasn't capable of harming the Misdreavus; the Ghost's hand merely passed right through the sphere without interacting with it in any way.
Fyren was awake because of the disturbance before, and turned his head to glare at the Rattatta. "Do you want to turn this into a battle?" he asked irritably; his broken sleep had left him grumpy.
Blade absorbed the sphere suddenly, and stood up, his eyes turning flinty. "You are entirely welcome to stay in our camp," he said, "But cause trouble like that, little Rattatta, and you will know you've made a mistake. We all need our rest. It's been a-." "Dum!" There was a clang as a Beldum suddenly fell out of a tree and landed on Blade's head, before floating back upwards and turning around to survey the place where it had fallen. "Now that's... not something you see every day," Fyren said, as Blade rubbed his head.
(OOC: Because of the giveaway, what Zigz picked up in the last route was the TM I recieved in the giveaway. This is just a bit of window-dressing, really, but it shows how Metal comes to be in Blade's possession.)

Misdreavus spun around at the houndour's words, a battle?!, it was her job to protect the younger pokemon, in her panic her body's outline began to glow blue.
The beldum then fell from the tree and made misdreavus jump, she spun and began glowing blue again. Rattata jumped at her, trying to stop her, and misdreavus stopped, breathing heavily. The misdreavus turned back to the houndour, =Battle me, not him= she growled, her protective maternal instincts kicking in. She screamed and translucent waves of energy fired at the fire hound. They would glow multicoloured if they hit and would lift the fire pokemon off his feet, the ghost pokemon flew forwards, getting between the young rattata and houndour.

(OOC* that's Psywave, right? Bad move.)
The attack washed right over Fyren without harming him at all; the fiery hound barked a laugh, then lunged at Misdreavous, fangs bared. They ignited in his now-signature move, Fire Fang. Blade ignored the Beldum for the moment, despite the fact that it had gone up into the trees and returned with a Pokeball, and focussed on the battle at hand. "Houndour is part dark type!" he exclaimed laughing as well, "Of all the stupid-..."
(OOC* Dark types are completely immune to Psychic type attacks. This immunity would apply even if Fyren were, say, a Fighting type as well. Which he isn't, but it's just an example.)

(ooc;; I know, you're spreaking to someone's who's spent 13yrs of her life playing pokemon games since gen 1 came out. This is a scared pokemon who, though is of a similar level to houndour, has never met one before and thus has no exerience of them. Psywave is a move she'd rely on, it's important that this isn't just a literate version of a battle from the games, pokemon, without instructions, do make mistakes, sometimes even when they have instructions. They should be more similar to the anime rather than a battle where they get everything perfectly first time.)
Misdreavous screamed, as her move failed and she was laughed at, psywave had never failed before, it was one of her most powerful moves. She fell in the air, flailing backwards as the fire pokemon barked and its fangs flashed closer to her face. She turned tail, trying to run away but fangs raked down her back sending flames licking along her body. She floated away quickly, then turned, Misdreavus glared at the houndour, flying at it to use astonish, screaming so shockwaves flew fast at her opponent.
The rattata snapped at the houndour, angry but staying back, letting his older friend battle, he was eager to play his part though preparing for it by using focus energy, concentrating on his strength. His muscles tensed as he prepared to run forwards into a quick attack on the still sleeping zigzagoon, turning this into a fast-paced double battle.

"Beldum!" The Beldum floated down in front of the Rattatta and just sat there solidly, refusing to move. It seemed to want to take part in the double battle instead of Zigz.
Fyren started somewhat when the Astonish hit, and instinctively blasted out an Ember attack, ignoring his trainer. "Fyren, use Fire Fang," Blade ordered... although this didn't quite go as he'd planned, as Fyren was already using Ember, and he refused to stop. Avartiath jumped onto Blade's shoudler, and frowned. "Why's Fyren disobeying?" he asked. "Startled, quite probably," Blade said, noticing now that the Beldum had dropped the pokeball it had been carrying at his feet. "Does that Beldum want to be mine?" he said confusedly, glancing at the metal pokemon where it hovered in front of the Rattatta.

Misdreavus saw the ember coming this time, more wary of the pokemon and was able to move backwards quick enough to avoid the attack. The heat of it warmed her face as the scared fire type seemingly wouldn't stop the attack regardless of how far out of range she was. In the fire and smoke that was partially surrounding the houndour it was hard to get close but it made it harder for her opponent to see her. The ghost type flew behind the fire dog, sneaking up behind it to use another astonish, it screamed loudly, aiming to spook the dog again and tugged hard on its tail, running back slightly before it could retaliate directly.
Rattata blinked in confusion as the beldum got in the way of him and his future opponent, it frowned, his involvement in the fight wasn't going exactly to plan. He then made the decision, his muscles let him spring forward, aiming to hit the beldum at full strength and speed.

Fyren had merely been startled by the Astonish attack, and rapidly spun around and snapped at the Misdreavus; his movement was a lot faster than could have been anticipated. His fangs slammed closed, flames shooting out in all directions.
Blade nodded, as Fyren began listening to him again. "Nice move," he commented, feeling Avartiath bouncing up and down on his shoulder, but ignoring the movement.
The Beldum didn't move. When the attack hit, there was a loud bong, and the Rattatta rebounded off, having done minimal damage. "Dum!" the Beldum exclaimed, suddenly shooting forwards at high speed in a Take Down attack.

Misdreavus panicked as the fire came closer to her face and she flew backwards towards the rattata, hoping to go some way to protecting her friend. She smiled at the houndour, her face relaxing into a happy one rather than a scary face, her necklace glowed purple, shooting silhouettes of herself from it, aimed at the fire-type. The move was a powerful confuse ray, designed to keep houndour's attacks away from her and more likely to hit the other pokemon itself.
Her friend rattata was knocked backwards by the takedown, its eyes wide it stared at the psychic type, one it hadn't encountered before that seeemed, to the rattata, to be something from a nightmare. It screamed, opening its mouth to let out a high pitched squeak that seemed to echo around, bouncing off the trees. The rattata jumped up, glaring at the other pokemon, it bared its fangs jumping forward in a rage-fuelled bite attack, the dark type move would be more effective than the quick attacks he was more used to using against those he battled in the wild.

The Confuse Ray missed, barely, slamming into the dirt just to Fyren's left. The Houndour recoiled away from the move, aware just how dangerous this would be for his unexpected ally.
The teeth of the Rattatta closed on the Beldum, but the move did not deal out as much damage as might have been hoped; Beldum was part steel-type after all, and only took normal damage. It quickly pulled free, zoomed backwards, then came forwards again even faster, using Take Down, it's only attack, once again.
Fyren dodged to one side; Misdreavous and Beldum were forming a rough line, which meant Fyren was likely to hit his ally by accident if he wasn't careful. He rapidly closed with Misdreavous, having noticed that she seemed to prefer long-range attacks. He opened his mouth, and, with a snarl, unleashed Fire Fang again, the move threatening to both burn the ghost and force her to flinch.
Blade shouted out something garbled in elation.

Birdy//♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ooc// Sorry about the lack of mods, and I apologize that Tsuki didn't seem to understand the level things; Misdreavus learns Confuse Ray at level 14, and looking at your team that wouldn't be fair, so I'm making her and Rattata a lot lower level.
ic// Misdreavus watched as Fyren came closer with the Fire Fang; it seemed he knew that there was a chance he could hit Metal instead of herself. She tried to move so that he would hit the Beldum, but her attempt to dodge at the last moment failed and she ended up having the Fire Fang's burning teeth closing on her body. The ghost yelped in pain, then watched as Metal's Take Down attack collided with her friend. Rattata cried out in pain at the strong attack, but she knew that at least Metal would have felt some pain from that as well.
Now it was their turn to attack. Misdreavus snarled as intimidatingly as she could as she glared at her opponents, the snarl turning into a Growl attack that would lower Fyren's attack power. Rattata copied her, using a Tail Whip to lower Metal's already high defense stat. They then launched into offensive attacks. Misdreavus started another Psywave, since that was the only offensive attack she currently knew, while Rattata sped extremely quickly towards the Beldum in a Quick Attack. They were both likely to hit, especially Rattata's; Beldums were extremely slow Pokémon and Quick Attack was a fast move coming from a reasonably fast Pokémon.

The Quick Attack struck first, of course, and, although the attack was dead-on, the damage dealt was slight due to the Beldum's type advantage; it had caused more damage to itself with the Take Downs than the Rattatta had done to it with its attacks, with the exception of the Bite that had been launched earlier. "Dum dum," the Beldum said, spinning around and zooming upwards, before zipping to Blade's side and hovering there, looking at him expectantly. "He's had enough," Blade decided, withdrawing the Beldum, who gave a delighted "Dum!" at being assigned a gender, and throwing out another Pokeball. "Alright, Spiker, it's your turn!" The spikey Pokemon popped up in the middle of the camp, blinking in surprise.
Fyren ignored the Psywave, instead blasting out another fireball Ember, without waiting for orders. The attack washed harmlessly off him, and went spiralling into a tree; the move did no more damage than an affectionate pat, but was marginally annoying for the dark-type.
(OOC: I agree that Metal is slow off the mark, but once it gets going, stay out of its way! It probably has high defense and and attack stats to compensate for its poor speed. Also, Metal the Beldum hasn't recieved his nickname yet.)
