Trainers had special healing items, didn't they? He snarled in annoyance, since that meant that she could probably just heal Haruto whenever he got a status problem, which would waste the turn for both of them and make the battle longer and more boring. He felt his defense stat lower, and decided that perhaps he should fight offensively only- at least, for a little while.
The mushroom Pokémon, thinking this, rushed at Haruto, moving towards the Skorupi as quickly as he could, claw drawn back in another Scratch. He was a little unsure about this, however, since there was a good chance Haruto would dodge for once.

Rin gave a smug smile before saying,
"Haruto?"
The Skorupi instantly smiled back,
"Too slow."
And he ducked extremely low as he scurried along the ground and under the claw that Paras was swinging downwards and he appeared before him, then Rin said from a distance,
"Bite and spin."
The Skorupi obeyed and grabbed the Paras from behind and locked his jaws onto his back before swinign his body to the right and releasing Paras - swining him toward a tree bark. Haruto and Rin hoped that this was a good move as it allowed Haruto to deal some real damage from the bite and maybe some extra damage from hitting the sturdy tree. And as a bonus, it would create a safe distance from him and Paras. After all he was pumped and still ready for battle. Kiyoshi gave a smug smile from where he stood - Rin was learning to trust her Pokemon even if she wasn't noticing it. It was happening and these were the first steps to Rin's transformation from revengeful little girl into accepting, understadning woman. At least that's what the Weavile daemon thought.

As hoped, the bug was flung quite painfully into the tree, screeching as he went. There was a loud thud, and the already tired Pokémon fell to the ground after hitting the tree. He groaned, trying to get back to hit feet. No, not now. This wouldn't be good! He wasn't supposed to faint, not now! He could win! There was still hope...
And yet he could feel his exhaustion catching up with him. He knew perfectly well that he wasn't going to pull through. It was a shame, really; he might have won if Rin hadn't thought to use the tree to their advantage. Paras sighed as his eyes shut, body relaxing as the little mushroom bearing Pokémon finally sank into unconciousness. He had been defeated, but now at least maybe he'd get to stay with his friend Charmander now.
Paras was defeated! Haruto gains two levels!

Rin watched as Paras shakily attempted to stand up and continue the fight to the bitter end. However it seemed that the mushroom Pokemon had already reached that state and he collapsed against the tree as he fainted in defeat. Haruto seemed pretty pleased with himself and Rin walked over to him. She was pretty tall compared to the Skorpian Pokemon and he stared up at her, seeing her bangs and her ears from his distance below. Staring up she had a monotone expression once more and he called up to her without making eye contact in a smug tone,
"You know this isn't going to happen all the time."
Rin did not make eye contact either and muttered in a mocking tone,
"I didn't expect it to."
The Skorupi gave a short snuff of laughter in reply before stating,
"After all, we're certainly both strong independant beings."
Rin gave a snort snuff of laughter too before dragging out a Pokeball and returning the smug Skorupi. She then looked to her side where her daemon was and heard him say inquisitively as he made a slight head movement toward something,
"So?"
Rin looked out toward where Kioyshi gestured: the fainted Paras. The Eeveemorph then stared down to the gentle, sleeping Charmander in her arms. The pair were friends, Rin didn't want to make her Pokemon feel sad - no sadness towards anyone on her account. She then raised her head and threw a Pokeball out toward the Paras in an attempt to capture him and reunite him with Airi. |

Woah, what was going on? He had no idea, but he didn't feel like it was completely good. The mushroom pushed against the side, trying to escape, when he realised what this must be. A Pokéball! Yes, that was it! He stopped, staying as still as possible. Had he spoilt his chance to belong to Rin?
The Bug was extremely happy that Rin actually wanted him, felt he was worthy. The Pokéball clicked to announce his capture, and he smiled as he settled down to sleep. Now he could be with Airi forever!

Rin walked over to the place where the Pokeball now sat, a Paras inside. She picked it up off the ground and placed it within her cloak before she looked back at Kiyoshi who had a wry smile on his face. The Weavile daemon then walked up to Rin and said teasingly,
"Shall we get going then?"
Rin looked down at her daemon and gave him a short nod before holding her Charmander gently over one shoulder and keeping her stable in her grasp. She then looked on to where Route 1 joined Route 2 and entered into the next step of her journey.
