Arienette stepped into the cover of the dark forest slowly, Sel and Firian by her side. A few minutes into the woods, everything went pitch black, the night thick and heavy around them. Arienette pulled a small flashlight out of her pack and pointed at at the trail under her feet. She did not want to disturb any of the Pokemon that might be sleeping, but she was afraid she'd trip on something if she wasn't careful. The three of them walked through the woods, each one listening intently for any sign of wild Pokemon. Arienette wondered what species, if any, would show itself in the night forest. She could hear the occasion beat of wings from overhead and definitely the rustling of some bug Pokemon from the sides of the path. A slight worry formed itself in the back of her mind. What is they walked up on a sleeping Pokemon too strong for Firian. She glanced down at her Growlithe, his nose almost touching the path and sweeping side to side, always on alert. She shook her head with a smile. There was no reason to believe any such thing. She had faith in her Firian.

From the trees, a Nocturnal Pokémon was watching her. Watching intently, as a matter of fact. Well, there wasn't one Pokémon. There was five. They all stared at the girl, her daemon and her Growlithe, waiting for when the moment would be right. They clicked their pinscers softly, talking amoungst themselve but at the same time trying to scare her with the mysterious noises they made by means of a language. One of them nodded, leaping off the edge of the high branch which was directly in front of and above Arienette. The others followed.
The thin trails of silk which the large Spinerak left behind them were virtually invisible, and then whizzed down with remarkable speed. Soon, a Spinerak was directly before Arienette's face, the face on it's abdomen creased into a glare. They cried out with all their might. This not a welcoming sight, it was more of a declaration of war.

A massive Spinerak descended directly above Arienette and into her face. She suppressed a scream, but Sel had fewer guards. He howled in fear. Firian, remembering the particular training Arienette had given him on surprise, he leapt up at the Spinerak, jaws wide. His teeth snapped shut just short of the dangling Spinerak, but distracted it long enough for Arienette to back away. She tripped and fell hard onto her rear end, Sel immediately crawling onto her lap, for once glad he was a little smaller. From her vantage point on the ground, Arienette commanded Firian, trying to get a grip on herself, "Bite it, Firian! Bite it!" Firian growled, With pleasure! He leapt up at it again, curling his legs beneath him for a higher reach. He might be able to get the Spinerak this time, if it didn't move or hit him before he had a chance.

Spinerak hissed, clicking his pinscers again. It? IT?! He wasn't an it! That did it! The spider was, all of a sudden, in a mad fit of rage. It was clear that this Spinerak wasn't one to be messed with for his short temper. He roared as Firian lunged to him the first time, missing as his trainer fell on her behind. He was too mad even to laugh as his opponent's failure to stay upright. He hissed and spat, eyes glowing red for a moment in his anger. He dropped a little in his height above the ground as he spun a little silk.
The next thing he knew, furious orange and black stripey fluff attached to a row of fangs was snapping at him, yowling angrily. A battle, eh? Well, that was just what Spinerak had wanted! The spider was about to attack by flipping around to use Scary Face, when he felt a searing pain in the face on his abdomen. Snarling, the Spinerak countered the Bite with a Poison Sting.

Arienette racked her brains quickly, standing up and sliding an embarrassed Sel off her lap. Let's see, Firian knows Roar, Ember, Bite, and the egg move Crunch. Ember would be most affective, but they had yet to train with that attack. We will train better next time! she promised herself. "Firian! Ember!" Arienette shouted. She crossed her fingers behind her back, praying her Growlithe could use the attack well enough to do damage. Firian snarled. A trickle of flame shot out of his mouth, falling short of the Spinerak. And growled in frustration. I'm a fire Pokemon, this should be EASY! Firian tried again, allowing anger to fuel his inner fire. Flames shot out of his mouth, but the sudden light against the dark made it hard to see. Had he hit the Spinerak?

It seemed the adrenaling fueling the puppy's body all of a sudden thanks to the burst of anger and frustration were working in his favour. The chemical pulsing through his blood, designed to give an extra boost when escaping danger ((ooc// If you're ever chased by your only fear, in my case a wasp, it's pretty odd when you can run majorly fast)) made Firian's newly learned Ember attack stronger, giving it the boost it needed to reach the spider.
Spinerak clicked and hissed in agony as the flames engulfed it in a firery fury, crackling merrily as they tore at his flesh. Luckily for him, it quickly burned straight through his thin silk, dropping him to the ground and thus freeing him from further pain. The Pokémon chose now to use another Poison Sting, with extra poison.

Firian howled, the Poison Sting hitting him squarely in chest. He fell on the ground in front of the Spinerak, writing in pain. "Firian!" Arienette screamed. She started digging through her pack, looking for the Antidote she knew she needed. Her hand wrapped around something round and she found her hand on one of her ten PokeBalls. She quickly turned and threw the PokeBall at the Spinerak. She didn't even bother watching to see if she caught it or not, she went straight back to finding that Antidote. Yes! She pulled one Antidote out and ran to Firian's side, administering it the way she had been shown. Firian went still and stopped whimpering, tired from the pain of the poison. Arienette turned slowly back around, knowing if she had not caught the Spinerak, she would be in trouble. Firian would need rest at the most, a potion at the least before he fought again. There was no time for rest, and Arienette's bag was still next to an almost cowering Sel. She had one detached thought, I can't believe Sel is this freaked out still.

Spinerak clicked angrily, furious that Firian had escaped from the hold of Poison. Now he had been cured, he probably won't be able to be afflicted for a while; it worked a little like an injection. Build up an immunity, although immunities to status effects lasted a battle at most. Spinerak crawled over menacingly, feeling it would be cowardly to attack while his opponent was distracted. He hissed madly, suddenly turning around to show the creepy face on his abdomen. It seemed huge, suddenly, and extremely terrifying. Like the worst nightmare.

Arienette looked behind where she was crouched next to Firian, and had to fight down panic again. The Spinerak was showing the horrifying face on its abdomen, all the while trying to stroke Firian's head and side to wake him up.
Firian woke slowly, blinking. The pain was gone, for the most part. There was only a small ache where he'd taken the Poison Sting and a few other aches and pains all over. When his eyesight cleared, his fur rose along his spin. The Spinerak was scaring his trainer! Firian got to his feet, edging gently away from Arienette and growling ferociously at the Spinerak. Now it was on the ground, within easy reach of his anger.
Arienette pulled back as Firian stood up, proudly watching his ferocity. She smiled a little to herself; now they would see a battle. There were no more surprises, no more poison. "Bite him, Firian," she said, calm.
Firian lunged at the Spinerak, a violent snarl escaping his powerful jaws, You're MINE!

Spinerak felt Firian crunch down on his firm exoskeleton, making him shriek in pain. This was only the second attack he had taken this battle, but already it felt more like his third or maybe even forth. He screeched and flailed, trying to break Firian's hold, but the Growlithe was holding strong. What would get the Fire type to let go? Spinerak did not know. But he had to try, of course. Otherwise he might use his super effective move, Ember, again!
Spinerak attempted to twist around, energy being sapped the whole while. He eventually managed to have his mouth facing Firian's underside. It he shot there with enough force, it would tug the Growlithe off. Spinerak shot a Poison Sting there, but would it be strong enough to dislodge Firian?

The Poison Sting knocked Firian back, but he was back on his feet in moments. This one Spinerak would not defeat him. Ever. He growled at Spinerak, waiting for the command from Arienette to attack once more. He bared his sharp teeth in an unpleasant mock doggie grin. "Firian! Finish it with Ember!" Arienette said, once more knelt next to her pack and poor Sel, Firian having distracted the Spinerak long enough for her to get back over there. She dug through her pack, grabbing for a PokeBall. This Spinerak would make quite the addition to her team. Fire swept across Firian's muzzle and spewed at the Spinerak. Arienette was poised to see how the Spinerak would react before she tried to catch it.

Spinerak saw that this battle was coming to a close. The girl was already reaching for a Pokéball, as if she knew as well as Spinerak did that this was over. Shame. Spinerak was just beginning to win, as well! Spinerak couldn't give up yet, though. No, of course he couldn't. Never give up until you've won. Or been defeated. But that wouldn't happen, right? Spinerak would never be defeated!
The Ember attack came at him, though, the dangerous flames licking their way lazily through the air, straight at Spinerak. Not good! The spider whimpered in fear, attempting desperately to scuttle away at the speed his little legs carried him; but the fire was faster. Spinerak gave a last cry before collapsing in a heap, fainted.

Arienette tossed the PokeBall just as the Spinerak fainted. A flash of red surrounded the Pokemon, then it disappeared. She crossed her fingers, knowing there was no way she had not caught the Spinerak, but it would be her first catch and she was still nervous. Sel was at her side, nervously praying the Spinerak would be caught; then it wouldn't be so scary because it would be Arienette's, not wild. He whimpered a little as the PokeBall shook back and forth. Firian barked at the PokeBall, his tongue hanging out of his mouth. He had beat the Spinerak! Beat it, and now Arienette was going to catch it!

ooc//Forgot to say earlier, but Firian gained two levels!
The Pokéball shook slowly from one side to the other, as though Spinerak was not entirely sure what was going on. After these gentle shakes, there came a sudden, more violent one, as Spinerak desperately attempted to escape the hold of the red and white plastic capturing device. Then it slowed, and eventually stopped. The shaking had, in fact, caused it to move at least a centimeter, but that didn't really matter; the red light flashed over the button, and a soft ping was issued from withing. Spinerak was caught!

OOC: Is the Spinerak automaticall healed once I caught it, or still injured?
BIC: Arienette walked over and picked up the PokeBall, wonder stark in her eyes. She'd caught a Pokemon! Firian barked happily and Arienette patted him on the head, congratulating him on a great battle. Even Sel looked a little less green around the gills. He'd come around to like the Spinerak. Arienette called to Sel and Firian with a smile. Time to keep going.
The trio went deeper into the wooded area, carefully avoiding the sounds of snapping pincers- the music of Spinerak.
