Unfortunately for Sel, Pichu was out of reach; if he were to get any closer, the bond between Arienette and him would be stretched painfully, stopping him from going any further. However, if he threw a Pokéball at it and caught it, it would be safe so long as nothing picked up the Pokéball, right?
Ekans, meanwhile, was still engaged in battle with Rox. It could see the daemon move off, but didn't really worry about that too much. It wanted to finish this battle. It didn't care if he managed to revive something, for Ekans would have already defeated it, and gained the experience anyway. Ekans saw that the Geodude was not doing anything, and so pulled a little tigher in the Wrap.

"Rox, try to Tackle out of it!" Arienette called, nervously feeling Sel's link pull painfully at her. Come back, she thought. The link between her and Sel slackened as he pulled back to her. "Pokeball," he growled. Arienette hesitated for just a moment before holding one out to him. He took it in his jaws and wiggled back to the Pichu, determined. Just as he reached his limit, he jerked his head around and tossed the Pokeball. Arienette took a step toward him, trying to give him more lee way, but she was edging uncomfortably close to the locked Pokemon. Wait! What was that? She leaned close into a bush, seeing a small patch of red. A Pokeball? She reached out and grasped it, but it sqiushed in her hands. Just a berry.

Ekans noticed all of this. Arienette seemed strangely attached to this Pichu. Was it her friend or something? Bah, it didn't mind. The trainer had stopped giving orders so far while it messed about with rescuing Pichu- oh, wait, she'd just given an order. Well, none the less, she wasn't paying attention much, so hopefully it wouldn't be too effective. The Tackle had Rox free, but sure enough the energy was spent escaping so it didn't hurt Ekans too much. The snake flicked its tail, then shot a Poison Sting from its mouth.
Meanwhile, the Pichu was absorbed successfully by the Pokéball, which then began to rock gently. The Pichu's mind was fuzzy, it didn't know what was going on. Eventually, it decided that, whatever this thing was, it was too strong to fight against. The Pichu relaxed inside the Pokéball, finding it rather comfortable. This was nice... it would just take a little nap. It was much better than lying on the cold, hard ground. The Pokéball pinged on the outside world, announcing Pichu's capture.
Arienette caught a Pichu!

Arienette watched thankfully as the Pokèball stilled. After a moment, it began to glow and then vanished, whisked away to be cared for and then stored in her PC. She was able to finally concentrate on the battle at hand wholly, and she was prepared. "ROX! Return!" Arienette tossed the Pokèball close to Rox, who gratefully returned to it. Arienette pulled a pair of fingerless gloves from her pack slipping them on with her eyes locked on the Ekans. For a moment, she wished they still had the fingers in them, but it didn't matter. She braced herself, then threw herself at the Ekans, hoping to disconcert it enough to get to her real goal: a Pokèball just behind it.

Ekans was extremely surprised to see that it had lost its target. What? Why had the trainer returned the Geodude? What was the point in that? The snake hissed angrily. It wanted to finish the battle, and couldn't understand why Arienette wasn't letting that happen. It thought the trainer was being a coward and dropping out the battle because she didn't want Rox getting injured or something stupid like that. At least, that's what it thought at first.
It saw the trainer throw herself at it. Why? She seemed to reach for the Pokéball she had thrown and caught the Pichu with. She was making a bit of a scene about it, in the snake's opinion. Did she think it would eat her or something? That was silly. Ekans didn't want to fight humans, because it wouldn't gain any levels that way. So, the snake watched quietly as Arienette grabbed Pichu's Pokéball. Huh. So, she was chickening out of the battle. The snake narrowed its eyes, clearly not thinking very much of Arienette and it slithered a way, calling it a victory by forfit.
