ooc//If you want, then he's healed.
ic// Up ahead, there came a mysterious gleam from the shadows. A pair of amber eyes shone through the darkness, staring directly at Arienette, Sel and Firian, narrowing slightly as they approached it's home. Maybe they were peaceful, or maybe they were not... the Pokémon could not tell for sure. Not sure whether it would be wise to flee or attack as of present, the creature merely attempted to keep the choice to Arienette, letting out a soft, menacing yet friendly, growl.

OOC: 'kay! Thanks!
BIC:
Arienette hummed the melody to her favorite Bright Eyes song, whispering the lyrics under her breath. Just as she uttered the last lyrics, she caught sight of red eyes peering at her from a bush, " . . . Where are you Arienette? . . ." She knelt onto the ground, crouching to make herself look smaller and less threatening. Arienette held out one hand, obviously an invitation. Behind her, Firian stood at the ready should the eyes prove to be malevolent.

The Pokémon gave a soft whine, taking a few steps back. Then, slowly and cautiously, the form moved towards Arienette on all fours, wagging a bushy tail happily. A Poochyena! It yipped, nuzzling the girl's hand, glad to have found a new friend. However, it's tail fell and it's ears flicked back as it growled at a man coming up to Arienette. The man was tall, in his mid twenties, had longish blonde hair, glasses, was not thin but not fat, and emblazoned over his black shirt was a large white letter 'T'. Tsuasa. His Zubat-daemon hissed on his shoulder, and the Grunt's first and only Pokémon, a Ghastly, hovered over his feet.
Poochyena whined, eyes flickering breifly to Arienette before looking into the Grunt's. ~Go away! I ran away from you because you're mean and nasty! I don't ever want to be near you again!~ it cried. The Grunt snarled as his daemon translated this, head turning to Arienette. "You caused this! Prepare to fight, little girl! Go, Ghastly!" he ordered harshly, the Ghost type seeming not to care too much about the rough treatment.

The red eyes came out slowly. A Poochyena! Aww! Arienette thought as it sniffed her fingers. A tall man appeared close to her. She stayed knelt down next to the Poochyena as it growled. Sel translated softly to her. He added, "It ran away. That man is cruel. I can smell it!" Suddenly, the man demanded a battle, ordering his Gastly cruelly forward. "Firian!" Arienette called the young Growlithe to step up to her side as she straightened, positioning herself in front of the Poochyena. "You won't be bothering this Poochyena anymore," Arienette told the man, her mind already calling up everything she learned about Ghost Pokemon from the trainers she had traveled with before. No normal moves. Ember then. Let him make the first move. She thought. Arienette stood ready, waiting. Firian's ears were flat against his skull. He would help to protect the Poochyena.

Gastly remained frozen, waiting for his trainer to command his first move. They would really show these two trouble makers a lesson, right? Yeah, he knew he would! He did have hilariously terrible intentions for Poochyena, after all. He had always been under control, and it would be nice to be able to control something- or someone- for one. Finally, the order came in the form of the Grunt's gruff shout. "Lick!" he had barked.
Gastly grinned menacingly, looming towards Firian. His tongue lolled out as the Ghost type krep closer to the Fire type puppy. He was almost upon Firian, ready to use the Ghost type move, Lick.

"EMBER!" Arienette yelled, hoping to catch the Gastly off guard. Firian growled and half barked as he shot hot flames at the Gastly. The Gastly's Lick hit him, as it had been too close to avoid, but maybe it was too close to avoid his attack as well. He jumped back a few paces, trying to get his bearings. He couldn't! Firian was confused!
((sorry so short. Kinda rushing!))

((Oh, Poo! Um, just pretend it says:))
Firian jumped back trying to get control of his body. He stiffened up and couldn't move. Firian was Paralyzed!

The Grunt laughed cruelly. "Haha! You've got a status effect! Now we can really kick your- WHAT?!" he sneered, face falling as he was cut short by a shivering moan from Gastly. The Ghost type was floating weakly, low to the ground. His ghostly aura stuff had flashed red for a moment, and a shiny red patch had flames flickering angrily from it every moment or so. The Grunt had a status effect, too; a Burn! "Dang it, stupid Pokémon! Use Lick! NOW!" he yelled. Gastly rolled his eyes, wincing as the Burn caused him more pain. Nonetheless, he floated over to the paralyzed Growlithe and stuck out his tongue, moving in.

Firian wiggled weakly on the ground, trying to break out of his paralysis, but he fell back down, whimpering. Arienette judged the distance between her and Firian. She knew she had a couple Paralyze Heals in her bag, but she was afraid if she ran over to Firian, the Poochyena behind her would follow, putting itself in danger. She made her decision. Firian was as strong as, if not stronger than, the enemy Gastly. Maybe he could break free of the Paralysis by himself if given time. "Firian! Keep trying!" she called, crossing her fingers as she did. Her Growlithe was strong. He could do it if he tried.

The Grunt grinned. "Gastly, attack now! While it's being stupid and weak!" he yelled. However, Gastly did nothing. The Grunt frowned. "Gastly.... GASTLY! Come on, do something!" he screamed, face growing red with rage. The Ghost type, however, moaned. Not the average creepy moan, but a moan of pain. The Pokémon was in pain. His swirly aura stuff clutched the red spot; flames were dancing over it's blotchy surface. No! He wouldn't go down after a single move. He wouldn't sucuumb to a simple burn when Firian was moving again! Yes, it seemed the Growlithe had recovered so soon. Then again, Gastly's Burn felt calmer. He sighed in short relief, before moving in again for a Lick.

Firian struggled stiffly to his feet, deep groans coming from his fluffy chest. The Paralysis was wearing off, but all of his muscles were still moving slowly. He growled in annoyance as the Gastly closed in again. It was beginning to bug him. Firian braced his feet firmly, waiting gleefully to be commanded to attack again. "Firian, good job!" Arienette called, very proud of her tough little Growlithe. "Now, EMBER!" Firian let the powerful fire attack fly from his gaping jaws, hoping to completely engulf the Gastly as it approached, tongue protruding grotesquely.

Gastly was a fairly determined Pokémon, although his cruel trainer's harsh punishments probably had something to do with it. Well, a lot to do with it; Gastly didn't really enjoy loosing, anyway, and hated himself if he did. Pft, this teensy puppy wouldn't do much against the might powers of a Ghost Pokémon, burn or no burn. Gastly couldn't help whimpering softly to himself, however, as a fresh wave of pain overcame the angry red blotch. Then the intense heat of Firian's Ember washed over him. He was weak, yes... but still going. Sheer determination was his fuel now. "LICK!" his trainer screamed, and Gastly moved in, hoping he could land his second attack.

Firian barked, turning his head a little to look at Arienette. This Gastly was spunky! As he turned back, he was unexpectedly struck with Gastly's tongue in another Lick attack. He yelped and jumped back, shaking his head, ears ringing with the force of the attack. He growled, tempted to just attack again, but faithful Growlithe he was, he stilled and waited. Arienette's mind was racing. The Gastly was just fighting through the Ember attacks, she would need something stronger. Firian knew Crunch, a dark attack . . . Could a dark attack hurt Ghost? She could not remember, but she was willing to try. It it worked . . . Well, Crunch is strong. "Firian, Crunch!" she called, emphasizing the attack name to be sure there was no misunderstanding. Firian cast a single measuring look at the Gastly, not wanting to miss. He bunched his hind legs under his body, bracing them and settling into his balance. He leaped, snapping at the Gastly.

<ooc> Because of Birdy's 2-week vacation, I am going to mod this thread.
The Gastly was ready to lick the annoying Growlithe, and finally knock it out... the ghost was getting weaker, and at least wanted to see the Growlithe go down before he did. But then Firian lunged at him, teeth bared in a fierce crunch attack..
Gastly's eyes widened - wider than they usually were, anyways. A dark-type move like Crunch was super-effective against the Ghost-type Gastly. He tried to move out of the way, but flames licked up from the burn, creating a fresh wave of pain and making him whimper again, closing his eyes and faltering. Then the puppy's teeth dug into the Ghost-type.
The Gastly let out a moan, then fainted. The grunt stared in horror at what the girl's Pokemon had done to his Gastly. Then he dropped to his knees. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'll never do it again! Just let me go, I'll do anything! Please spare me!" the Grunt yelled, his Zubat daemon fluttering weakly and sinking towards the ground.
The Poochyena growled at the Grunt, showing his bright-white puppy teeth. ~Not so big now, huh? It's what you get for what you do to Pokemon!~
