Meowth were speedy, too. The cat Pokémon knew that Nincada would be reasonably hard, having used three Harden moves. However, he'd still feel some pain. Even if a Pokémon's defense was as high as it could go, they'd feel pain. And although Nincada was pretty hard right now... there was always a way, always a break in the armour. The cat Pokémon nimbly leapt over Nincada's head to dodge the Scratch.
When Meowth landed, it carefully studied Nincada. It looked as though much of it were shell ideed. Hm. The cat rushed towards him anyway, aiming a Scratch anywhere on his body.

"There has to be some way to stop it's movements... what can I do?" Ichigo muttered to herself. There had to be some way she could get Nincada's Scratch to connect. Meanwhile, Meowth's Scratch connected with Nincada's left side. Nincada was of course hurt by it. He considered himself lucky that he had used Harden so many times. If he hadn't, that would've hurt a lot more than it did.
There was a weak point in his shell somewhere, and he hoped that Meowth never noticed it. "Scratch a leg while you're close!" Ichigo tried again. Nincada noted that this was getting kind of repetetive, but what real choice was there? His only other options were Harden again or Leech Life, and that hadn't turned out well the last time he tried it. He aimed his claws right for one of Meowth's legs, hoping for a hit.

Meowth had made a big mistake. It had become so engrossed in attacking Nincada with it's Scratch attack, it had not been paying attention to what it's opponent had been doing. The cat Pokémon's face was contorted with fury as it ruthlessely brought down it's paw, claws glinting menacingly in the light-
And whimpered in pain, retreating, clutching it's leg. Meowth groaned, trying to bring itself together. Oh, man, ow! That had really hurt! Meowth wailed, it's breath coming in pants now. It wouldn't be long until this battle was over! The cat rushed- slowly, becuase it was limping ever so slightly- towards Nincada, jaws at the ready for a Bite attack.

"Now we're getting somewhere! Dodge and Scratch again!" Ichigo cheered. Kizu silently thought about the strategy she had used. It was a good plan, but it would've been dangerous if Nincada hadn't used Harden so many times. She was making it up as she was going along, he knew that, but from an outside view it might have ended up looking like she had planned it from the start. He knew that she hadn't; she was always more interested in the present than the future.
Nincada, meanwhile, jumped to dodge the attack. He dealt a downward scratch aimed right for Meowth's back. The more hits connected, the better things would be for him.

Meowth was annoyed that so many of it's attack were being dodged, but right now, that didn't seem like too much of a problem. It faced defeat. Defeat in the form of a bug. Yes, Nincada. It could be defeated by Nincada, which, in it's opinion, wouldn't be the best of things. It snarled, concentrating on where Nincada had moved off to after it's attack. But... Meowth couldn't see him! A sudden jolt of pain rushed along Meowth's spine. Oh. That was where he was.
Meowth felt dizzy. It... could stay... in the fight... it could. The cat blinked hard, trying to get the world to stay in focus. It swayed dangerously, then fell forwards, collapsing face-down in the dirt. Looked like this battle was well and truly over.
Meowth was defeated! Nincada gained two levels!

"Yes! Nice work, Nincada! You're so strong it's crazy!" Ichigo cheered as she tossed a Pokeball at the fallen Meowth. Nincada strutted across the battlefield proudly, ignoring his wounds.
"As I expected from a tough opponent like you; you were great!" Wingull declared.
"Thanks!" Nincada answered.
"That was an interesting battle," Cresselia said smoothly.
"Well done, both of you," Kizu said with a faint smile as he shifted into his Vulpix form.

Meowth, however, was oblivious to all these compliments. Not only was it fainted, but now, as Ichigo threw her Pokéball, it was swept inside those red depths, too. The cat put up a great fight against the capture device. The Normal type, however, as most fainted Pokémon inside Pokéballs were, grew tired quickly as the struggle sapped away it's energy. Soon the Pokéball grew still and finally it pinged as Meowth settled down for a slumber inside.
Meowth was caught!

"Alright!" Ichigo cheered happily. This was great; another successful capture! She recalled Nincada, a bit worried about the wounds.
"He'll be fine; he's a tough Pokemon," Cresselia assured.
"Thanks; I needed that." Ichigo was so caught up in her emotions that her attention was all on her Pokemon, not on her surroundings.

A Pokémon was watching the battle curiously from the roof of a school building. It's good eyes could make out what was going on- mostly. Well, not specific details, but it could see that a female student had defeated a Meowth with her Nincada. So, a strong good trainer. That was nice. It liked a challenge. But not against Nincada, no; it wanted to fight Cresselia. It knew, of course, that as rare as they were, legendaries weren't actually any stronger than a normal Pokémon would be, but still.. it was a rare oppertunity and it didn't want to miss it.
At that, the Pokémon launched itself off the roof, speeding through the air towards Cresselia. The blur of feathers could be identified as a Spearow as it shot towards the cresent Pokémon, and appeared to be using a Peck attack.

"Yikes!" Ichigo barely had time to react as the Spearow swooped down. "Cresselia, use Confusion!"
Cresselia focused and let loose a burst of psychic energy, hoping to block the incoming attack. After all, just because she was a Legendary Pokemon didn't mean she was invincible!

Spearow froze in midair, eyes squeezed shut. Urgh... the pain... it fell to the ground, only just rememembering to snap out it's wings to lessen the fall in time. It still hurt, the fall, but at least not as much as it would have done. Clutching it's head wing it's wings, Spearow moaned. That hurt, it really hurt! The Flying type cooed in pain, before it felt the attack lift off. Finally! Cresselia's attack was just as powerful as a normal Confusion would have been, but a normal Confusion was quite strong, too.
Spearow then, released from the pain, launched itself in the air again. It was a determined bird, and shot towards Cresselia again, using that Peck attack. It would get in as much attacks as it could, it would keep trying until that happened!

"This bird just doesn't give up! Use Confusion again," Ichigo decided.
Cresselia really didn't have much of a choice of attacks; it was either Confusion or Double Team, and Confusion seemed to work the best. She let loose another burst of psychic energy, hoping to stop the Spearow once again.

Spearow felt the Confusion pressing in. No! She would not react like last time, she just refused to. That would prove disasterous. If she dropped out of the sky every time she felt any pain, then she'd never get an attack in! Perhaps she could concentrate on something else and manage to ignore it, anyway. The Flying type concentrated on her attack. However, the Confusion still seemed just as painful. She concentrated harder. Up wing, down wing, up wing, down wing. she thought to herself as he moved quickly towards Cresselia. The legendary had laid two attack on her, so it was about time she evened the score, right? She kept going in her Peck; she was nearly there now.

Well, that certainly worked. Cresselia took the hit and was pushed back a bit. Ichigo quickly changed her strategy. "Use Double Team, then Confusion again!" she ordered.
Cresselia glowed, and seven more Cresselias appeared. Of course, one was real and the rest were illusions, but which was which? They surrounded Spearow and used Confusion but only one attack was real. Would Spearow figure it out?

Spearow cawed in delight as her Peck attack hit. Finally, after two turns of dodging, she'd got in her first hit! It hadn't seemed to do a whole lot. In that case, why was Cresselia so worried about being hit? And now, now there were eight of them. Oh great. Just great. Wonderful. She felt echoes of Confusion, not effecting her, but on top of them was a real Confusion. Which one was it coming from?
Of course, the one that had glowed. The one Spearow had just hit. There may have been loads of them, but it was just a trick to scare her. Swooping low towards the one in the spot which she thought must have been the original, she didn't quite understand that Cresselia could have switched between the copies.
