"Gah! So frustrating. I'm a Cubone! Not a psych therapist!" Doc said as he thumped his club on the ground. Meanwhile Rogue has finished being cleaned up by Blake and is now learning something new. Walking is hard. He took one very wobbly step and fell flat on his face. But his Tyrogue spirit shone through and he refused to give up as he tried and tried again, each time getting a bit father, but not much more coordinated. "His father must have been a Hitmonchan, all upper body strength." Serenity said as Blake gently helped Rogue back to his feet. "Most likely, but he's still young. It'll take time for him to learn. I know it took me a while." Blake said as Rogue took another stumble and fell flat on his butt. Rogue folded his arms and grumbled unhappily.

Treeco ignored Doc's comment, and refused to watch them from her spot in the tree. However, she spied another streak of purple, this time much nearer. She might not like the Tyrogue, but she couldn't let harm come to the perfectly innocent trainer, could she? She watched as the streak flitted closer, and saw it to be a Rattata. It didn't look like a parent. It seemed to be last year's child, looking for... something. Well, at any rate, Treeco didn't like the way it was looking at Doc. She sighed.
Well, there wasn't much left to discuss. Doc was weak from warding off the Grunt, and Rogue hadn't quite got the hang of walking yet. Treeco knew they would be able to do little. She leapt down from the branch, landing in front of the group as the Rattata came into view. ~Blake, tell me what to do! I'm at level six!~ she said; he was a much smarter battler than her.

"What....AH! Quick! Pound it!" Blake responds as he realizes what's happening. Doc tries to wheel around to help, but his body quickly complains, making sure he stays on the sidelines for this fight.

Treeco grinned, striking the lead Rattata on the head with her tail. She seemed happy to obey Blake's commands, thankfully. Her blow struck neatly, and she pulled away before Rattata could do anything more, smiling as she flicked her tail in a taunting manner. She seemed a good battler.
Rattata, on the other hand, wasn't as pleased. It snarled, baring it's sharp little buck front teeth, and zipped towards Treeco at a pretty fast speed. Without a doubt, this was a Quick Attack; and a powerful one, at that.
ooc// You can control Treeco as one of your own characters for the battle.

Treeko skidded from the quick attack, but the words she heard next are almost instant. "Absorb! Before he gets too far away!" Blake's voice echoed in her mind as her body glowed with green energy

Rattata was struck by the Absorb attack, and it winced as the glowing green orbs pierced it's skin. They then returned to Treecko, replenishing a smidge of health for the gecko Pokémon. The mouse hissed in rage. Urgh, filty Grass type! It bared it's teeth in a threatening way. Then, without warning, it attempted to gain the element of surprise by all of a sudden darting right at Treecko in another Quick Attack.

Treeko braced herself as the Quick Attack came and the words entered her mind once again as she glowed green with the power of Absorb.

Rattata flattened itself against the ground in an attempt to dodge the Absorb attack. However, Rattata underestimated it's size and ability to flatten down, and a little over half of the Absorb struck from above. Rattata growled to itself in annoyance. If this kept up, then whatever damage it did to Treecko would be healed quickly, which wasn't good!
Rattata needed to change this. And the best way it could think of doing that right now was to lower stats. Lower stats the way the wild Rattatas on FireRed and LeafGreen do the whole time on the first route. Yes, a Tail Whip. Rattata's tail lashed the ground. Why this lowered a Pokémon's Defense, it was not certain, but it did.

Treeko felt her defense suddenly drop and she wasn't about to take that from a rat. She started off with a Leer and followed it up with Pound as hard as she could.

Rattata felt a taste of it's own medicine as it felt it's Defense drop as Treecko's had done earlier. It tried to dodge the Pound, but the attack struck it's tail as it moved off. Squeaking a tremendously loud squeal of pain, Rattata twisted around, shaking off the Pokémon who was still pinning it there. It was now panting a little, a sign that this battle didn't have much left until it fainted.
However, Treecko had taken almost the same damage as it had, so Treecko should be weakening too by now. Rattata knew this, and raced towards Treecko in another surprisingly fast Quick Attack. However, Treecko was so close now that it was bound to be hit.

Treeko's eyes grow wide as she tried to back up from the Quick attack, but there's no time. But just before Rattata was going to hit there was a flash of crimson and white. "GO! Poke'ball!" Blake thought shouted as the ball flew.

Rattata tried to bat the Pokéball away, but it swung it's tail too late and the Pokéball absorbed it up. The Pokéball shook violently. It slowed down. Perhaps Rattata would be caught?! However, then the Pokéball burst open and flew into Blake's hand. The capture hadn't been a success. Rattata looked angrier, and it's attacks would now be boosted with adrenalin. Not good!
Rattata snarled. How dare Treecko avoid it's attack with that filthy trainer's Pokéball! It squealed in mad rage, racing towards her in it's fastest Quick Attack yet.

Treeko wasn't going to just stand around and let herself get hit this time. She bolted for the nearest tree and scurried up it's trunk half way and turned and unleashed another Absorb as Blake hurled the Poke'ball again.

Rattata felt the Absorb enter it's body, squeaking in pain as it did so. It chattered it's teeth, annoyed with itself that it hadn't dodged. Well, what's done it done. As the Absorb attack made it's way to heal Treecko, Rattata could see another Pokéball coming. Another attack would probably make it faint, and a fainted Pokémon is almost always caught. Rattata had heard that some of the games that human children played were silly in that they did not allow people to catch a fainted Pokémon, but in this world, you could.
However, Rattata was not fainted yet. It watched the Pokéball coming, and was ready this time. It snarled, hitting the device with a paw so that it spun off back into Blake's hand.

"You forgot rule number one mouse boy. Never take your eyes off your enemy." Blake said with a smile and Treeko drops down with a Pound.
