Route One certainly felt the effects of the seasons changing. The trees lining the path were quickly becoming bare, red-golden leaves falling to the floor at random. This place was the first Route he'd encounter, and already Hawk liked being a Trainer.
"Alright, now we're really started. Salia, Ace, what do you guys think we should do first?" The Pokemorph asked his daemon and starter.
"We should start by getting used to fighting." Ace the Pidgey offered. "After all, I doubt you've battled before, and we can catch more people for the team on the way."
"Ace has a point, Hawk. I say we do that for a bit to begin." Salia, in the form of a Spearow, added for good measure.
"Well then, we need to find a Pokemon to fight." With that said, the trio walked forwards, looking around for any signs of a Pokemon.

In the trees there were several pokemon watching the bizarre trio. Two bird pokemon with a birdman, no grass pokemon was brave enough to get close. But one little pokemon was curious, it creeped up a bit to the party. "Excuse me Pidgeot-Person, could I have a battle?" The Whismur asked, it wanted to see how bird-people handled battles with pokemon

Hawk was halted as the purple, roly-poly loppy-eared Pokemon known as a Whismur spoke to him. All three sets of eyes turned to the Pokemon.
"... Ace, you up to it?" Hawk asked his starter.
"Of course. This is just what we needed." Ace flew down to the ground, having been perched on Hawk's shoulder.
"Alright Whismur, you're on!" Hawk felt an unknown emotion rise within him, empowering his voice, his mannerisms with a new vigour. "Ace, start with Tackle!" The small bird Pokemon nodded and flew forward at speed, intent on ramming the Whismur with his body.

The Whismur got in a ballte position, ready to face this Pidgey, Ace. He didn't expect Ace to attack him already. It grunted as it fell from the Tackle, this wouldn't happen again. It then closed it's eyes and clenched it's fists, seemingly throwing a temper tantrum, with supersonic waves coming from it's oversized ears, an Uproar Attack.

Ace flew back from the close-range Uproar, having not being able to retreat due to the initial speed his Tackle had. Righting himself in mid-air, the Pidgey looked back to Hawk. The Pokemorph was thinking, eyes narrow.
"Ace, you know any other attacking moves!?"
"One. Do you want me to use it?"
"Go ahead!"
"Very well!" Ace landed quickly and threw forward his right wing, which had begun to glow. As the appendage swung through the edge, the air around the edge shot forward with a bluish-white tint, slicing into the ground slightly as it sped towards Whismur.
"Ace knows Air Slash, huh? Cool." Hawk commented.

Whismur though, did not find it so cool. It managed to get out of the way of the slim, yet powerful, Air Slash. But didn't get to change it's attack, even if something else would have been better, because the Uproar had to continue, as was it's nature, but the noise simply got louder, and due to this the few pokemon that had been watching the battle ran away to protect their ears.

The noise from the attack was really getting on Ace's nerves, but the Pidgey remained calm. Hawk quickly noted the weakness of Air Slash, namely the fact it was so slim, making it harder to hit with.
"Alright, Ace! Sand Attack, then another Air Slash!" The Pokemorph shouted, his daemon watching from her position on his shoulder. Salia had to admit, this battling thing was interesting. At least it passed the time.
"Take this!" Ace shouted as his small wings flapped a small cloud of dust at the Whismur's eyes, before following up with another swing of his right wing. The swing again formed an Air Slash, the slice speeding at the wild Pokemon.

Whismur was blinded by the sand attack, and as such it's accuracy fell. And from not seeing the incoming attack it got nailed by the Air Slash, this was beginning to look bad for the Whismur. It started crying even louder as the Uproar continued. The Whismur also was stomping, flailing it's fists, and just generally having a temper tantrum.

Hawk winced, fighting the urge to cover his ears with his hands. But it was a thousand times worse for Ace, who was caught in the attack again. The soundwaves tore through his body, knocking the tiny bird back. He hit the ground, but righted himself quickly.
"... this is... fun." The bird muttered, injured but not too badly from the continuous Uproars.
"If you can, Ace, just charge in and hit it with your hardest Tackle! You can do this!" Hawk shouted in encouragement, emotions flitting through him. He didn't understand them much, but anyone else would know their names. Worry, pride, excitement... they all created a whirlwind within the Pokemorph. And it lit his blood alight. Hawk was born for this, to battle as a Trainer alongside his Pokemon.
Ace charged, swelling with happiness. His Trainer believed in him! He wouldn't lose now, he knew it. Because Hawk trusted him, Ace knew he could end this. And as the Pidgey's body lifted off and shot into a full-body Tackle, the Pokemon let out a loud cry.
Ace couldn't stop, he'd commited himself now. This attack would either hit or it wouldn't.

Whismur was looking right at Ace as he charged, but was currently trying to get the sand out of it's eyes so couldn't do anything about the Tackle attack. It sent Whismur flying again and shut up the Outrage, but it also knocked a lot of the sand out of it's eyes. Though some of it lodged in so he wouldn't have very good aim. But he tried anyway, bringing his feet forward for a Pound.

Ace easily dodged to the side, even without Hawk ordering him to. The Pidgey had not only the advantage in speed and sight, but also in confidence. Confidence counts for a lot in battling. And Ace was currently on Cloud 20, confidence-wise.
"Ace, try to finish it with Air Slash!" Hawk shouted, grinning. The Pidgey nodded, wing forming another blade of air that launched towards Whismur. Both Hawk and Salia knew that the Whismur, despite being tough, wouldn't last past a few more attacks, especially if Air Slash hit. It was a fairly strong move, after all.

And the Air Slash did hit, Whismur still couldn't see terribly well and tried getting out of the way, but walked right into the attack. It landed on the ground, it wouldn't be able to do much more. But it could use Uproar again, that seemed to work well. So it sent out the piercing sounds of the Uproar, hoping to hurt Ace before Ace hurt it even more.

Ace flew back again, wincing. Now he was rather annoyed and he was going to beat Whismur or go deaf trying.
"Ace! Try another Tackle! Whismur is weakened and probably won't last much longer!" Hawk said, Salia nodding in agreement. The Pidgey gave a small cry, tired himself, but still charged again. Ace really hoped this hit.

Whismur increased the sound in desperation, but it didn't do enough as the Tackle still connected and Whismur still fainted from the damage. It laid on the ground, motionless. Hawk had a perfect chance to throw a pokeball to catch it.
Whismur defeated. Ace gains 2 levels

"Alright!" Hawk grinned as he pulled out a Pokeball. Tossing it quickly, the red and white ball flew at Whismur and impacted, opening and shooting a red beam of light at it. Hopefully it would be caught.
Ace flew back over to Hawk, tired but happy. He'd won! He watched the orb being tossed and stared intently. He hoped Whismur would be caught- it'd be a good addition.
