ic// Zigzagoon smiled as she hit Fyren's left front leg. Yes! A hit! That was a very good thing indeed, since it meant that the Houndour would feel a bit more damage than what he'd have got from a regular Tackle attack. That was good- ow! Fyren's jaws were clamped down hard on the racoon's fluffy puffy tail. OK, that was painful. So very painful. Luckily, the very small chance this attack had on burning or flinching had not happened this time, but that didn't mean it stopped hurting.

Zigzagoon pulled herself free, whimpering in pain. That was probably the worst attack she'd ever experienced! She'd have to look out for that one, taking more care in future. Well, for now, it was her turn to attack. She thought briefly about using a Growl to lower Fyren's attack power and so the power of the Fire Fang, but decided against it, racing back before charging forwards in another Tackle attack. She didn't seem to learn her lesson, did she; she hadn't changed her Tackle at all, leaving her exposed like last time.

Blade opened his mouth to order Fyren to dodge, but he was already doing so.
"Counter with Ember," he ordered, and Fyren nodded, opening his mouth and blasting forth the spray of tiny but painful flames.
Avartiath was randomly shouting cheers from beside Blade, jumping from foot to foot.

Aw, a dodge. Zigzagoon frowned, disappointed. Stupid dodging Pokémon. She was just as fast as he was, so why hadn't she hit him? She needed to work that one out, really. At the moment, speed was her highest stat. When she evolved, it would still be that way, but she would be even faster than Fyren's evolved form, a Houndoom. That would just be amaz- OW! While she was daydreaming about being even faster, she had been hit by the Ember. Oh no.

Zigzagoon felt it sting, but again was thankful that it had failed to burn her. She was always wary for that to happen; sooner or later in a battle with a Fire type, you were bound to be burned. She was aware that she should remain more focused, so she concentrated on the battle. It seemed that when she used a plain Tackle, it left her vunerable. So, she needed to stop that. The racoon raced towards Fyren in another Tackle. After she'd hit or he'd dodged, she would dart backwards.

"Evasive," Blade ordered, and Fyren obeyed instantly, leaping sideways.
"Counter with Ember," Blade continued, inadvertently throwing an aura sphere into a tree; it collapsed behind the Zigzagoon with a crash.
"Whoops," Blade said, retracting his pointed finger; it appeared that, although he could use his Aura easily and powerfully, he had yet to learn control over it.
"Change in terrain," Avartiath said, "Big whoop."

Zigzagoon was getting quite cheesed off by all the dodging Fyren was doing. Didn't speed count for anything? She was pretty even with him on speed, so some of her attacks should hit, surely?! Well, she would show them that she was indeed even with Fyren. She was startled by the tree crashing behind her, but ignored it. After all, that could be some trick the trainer was playing on her- of course, if it was, Blade was cheating. She zigzagged out the way of the Ember, giving a relieved smile as she avoided being hit by the burning flames.

Pleased with herself for dodging, Zigzagoon felt exhilerated and ready for her next move. What would that be? Er, she did only have one offensive move, so she supposed that would be what she would use. The fuzzy racoon Pokémon gave a little battle cry- not an attack of any sort, just a noise that failed to be threatening- and began chargin at Fyren, moving in for a speedy Tackle attack. She really hoped she would hit this time!

Fyren didn't wait for orders; he plunged right in, mouth open wide, and teeth coated in flames.
The Tackle sent him stumbling, but his teeth came down towards the Zigzagoon's back.

As soon as the attack concluded, Fyren jumped back, favouring the paw slightly, and Howled, the bone-chilling sound boosting his Attack and snapping Blade back to the battle.

Zigzagoon was pleased to see that she had caught Fyren in her Tackle while he was still preparing his Fire Fang. Ha! That'd show him that he should wait his turn first, and never assume that a move would just miss or something! The racoon attempted a difficult twisting manouvery thing, but predictably it didn't work, and Fyren's jaws sank in. Zigzagoon yelped as a burn status settled in along with the sharp pain of the attack, before she shook him off and ran back a little.

Zigzagoon was panting, looking very tired by now. And yet, she still bore a look of fierce determination, ready to fight until the end. She certainly had a very good nature if Blade wanted to capture her if he managed to win. Zigzagoon wanted to make sure he didn't, and although Fyren had raised his attack, she still clung onto hope and tried to see ways in which she could still win. She saw a few, and decided she didn't have much of a choice other than to go for it, which she did, charging the Houndour in another Tackle.

"Fyren!" Blade yelled, "Counter with Ember, and see if you can dodge it! Then use Howl again!"
Fyren opened his mouth, blasting forth more of the tiny flames, simultaneously jumping to the left.
As soon as the attack completed, he Howled, but the move was cut off by a yelp as Zigzagoon hit his injured leg.

Zigzagoon was glad that she'd hit him on his injured leg. Good, another hit, and this time it would probably hurt more than usual since his leg was already hurt. Even better, his latest Howl had failed since it had been cut off by the same Tackle. The racoon felt proud of herself, smiling at her victory. She was determined to dodge the Ember, but failed to do so, wincing first as the damage from the Fire type attack took place, then the burn.

Zigzagoon was looking pretty worn out now. Another attack would finish her off for sure, although she might still perhaps be able to dodge a less accurate move like Fire Fang. The Normal type knew this, and so decided to try and harm Fyren as much as possible before it was his turn again; after all, despite not seeming as tired as her, the Houndour was still tired, right? She used a Tail Whip, lowering Fyren's defense before she charged at him in a Tackle attack.

Blade clenched his teeth. He can't dodge with that leg... Come on, BLADE, think of something.
"Ember again," he yelled, "And then use Leer!"

Zigzagoon missed Fyren and almost ran into the fallen tree, which was just to one side of the fiery hound.

Fyren was tired, but he still had some strength left; this he channelled into the Ember, causing the attack to burn hotter and brighter than before; where it hit the snow, bursts of steam emerged. His eyes were closed from the effort of blasting forth the attack, so he couldn't see anything.

ooc// Thanks! Can't help but think the snow would be gone now it's March, plus it's a little bit cheating to make the power increase without a stat change, but I think you've had enough of edits.

ic// Zigzagoon was extremely annoyed that her move had failed to hit. She was really saddened by it, since she had truly being relyin on that very move. She had known it wouldn't have made Fyren faint, but she hadn't had much of a chance of surviving too long in this battle. She felt that the Houndour was being a little wimpy, dodging every hit while she took many. Did that mean that she was tougher, since she could take more hits?

Then again, trainer Pokémon seemed like that a lot of the time. It was like they'd gone all mushy and soft on being captured, suddenly not wanting to get their paws dirty or anything. Zigzagoon was filled with a strong hatred which burned in her vains, decided that she really didn't like this trainer at all. She dodged the Ember, glad to do so because hopefully the effort of making it more powerful had worn Fyren out a fair bit, because it should do. However, the burn inflicted more damage, making her topple over. Fyren really hadn't needed to hurt himself to make his attack more damaging.

Zigzagoon was defeated! Fyren gained two levels!

Fyren almost collapsed, and Blade ran over.
"Here, Fyren," he said, using a Potion on the injured Pokemon. The spray stung, but the wounds healed rapidly, leaving Fyren rather tired, and slightly hurt, but otherwise fine.

Blade stood up and hurled a second Pokeball at the Zigzagoon; it bounced off the Zigzagoon's head, and drew the raccoon Pokemon inside.
"Come on," he whispered, "Don't make all that effort be for nothing!"

The Pokéball drew Zigzagoon inside. Once inside, The racoon was given the oppertunity to try and free herself. She was surprised that a trainer was actually wanting to catch her, but she came to her senses when she realised this might mean she had to spend more time with Blade. She didn't want that! She struggled to break free of the Pokéball, but failed, feeling weaker and weaker until she finally collapsed inside the Pokéball, the device pinging as it caught her.

Zigzagoon was caught!
