"Fyren, you're still in good shape," Blade said, as the Zigzagoon jerked back and scampered to his heels, where she hid. "There's still a little of that last Potion left," he added, looking at the spray bottle; it still had a quarter of the medicinal liquid in it.
Fyren winced as his leg was sprayed by the potion, but his wounds healed. He was still somewhat tired, having fought two battles in one day already. "Hey, Zigz," Blade addressed the Zigzagoon, coming up with a nickname on the spot, "See that that Poocheyena's all right, and bring him over here. Fyren and I will keep Nidoran occupied."
"Fyren," he said, turning to his Houndour, "You know how I like to open things up. Use Leer, then Ember!"

ooc// Potions are one-use, so Fyren will be pretty much fully healed, but you'd have used up a whole Potion, sorry.
ic// Nidoran smiled to himself as Blade and his Houndour sprang into action for a battle. Great, that was brilliant. He loved a good battle, and hoped that Fyen would put up a good fight, but he'd get lots of nice hits in and would win. After all, you generally wanted to win a battle, didn't you? The Poison type felt his defense stat be lowered by the Leer, and snarled in anger. That wasn't nice. The Ember struck too, making him cry out in pain; that had hurt more than usual thanks to the Leer.
Two could play at that game! Nidoran looked at Fyren, eyes boring into his. They seemed to glimmer, shine even. This was Nidoran's Leer, very similar to Fyren's only adapted to suit a Nidoran like himself. He was using it quite sucessfully, appearing pretty intimidating. Once he was satisfied with that, it was time for his offensive move. He didn't know Ember like Fyren did, but he did know Peck. He attempted this move now, racing quickly up to the Houndour with a Peck at the ready.

Fyren didn't wait for his Trainer's orders to perform another Leer, glaring right back at the Nidoran. The Peck attack missed, but only barely; it clipped a couple of hairs off Fyren's leg.
"Fire Fang!" Blade ordered, and Fyren twisted around, biting at the Nidoran with fangs that were ablaze. He also tried to avoid the spikes, although not entirely successfully; one pricked him on the nose, although it didn't break the skin.

Nidoran considered dodging this one; after all, Fire Fang was a strong attack, and he didn't exactly enjoy being hit by things like that. The Poison type then remembered his ability. Poison Point! That meant there was a pretty large chance Fyren would be poisoned on contact with him. Or, at least feel a tad sick. Either way, it would be good. Nidoran let himself be hit, ignoring the pain as he concentrated on the thought that Fyren might be poisoned by this.
Without waiting to see whether the Houndour was poisoned or even just a little on the bad side, Nidoran sprung into action with his own move. Another Peck, it seemed, much more likely to hit than the last one since Fyren was up close. Nidoran certainly hoped that it would hit, anyway.

This time Fyren lowered his head as the Peck came in; it hit the bone covering, thus doing minimal damage. Nonetheless, Fyren was feeling a bit off, and he knew why. Nidoran had managed to inject him with some of the poison. Not enough that he would take ongoing damage, but enough to make him feel off-colour. "Jump back, Fyren," Blade said, realising instantly what was wrong, "Use Ember. And try to stay away from him."

Nidoran smiled happily as he saw that Fyren was feeling a little on the bad side. Great! That would probably effect his stats a teensy bit, but most definately his balance. The Poison type would have idealy had him completely poisoned, but at least he had got something out of that, right? Look on the bright side and all. The little mouse leapt out the way of the Ember, but it hadn't been likely to hit anyway. A grin was on Nidoran's lips now. He was pleased with the way this battle was unfolding so far.
It seemed the Houndour was now trying to stay away from him. Good, it meant he would probably try and avoid the painful Fire Fang now. Phew, that would be a relief, although slightly disappointing that he wouldn't get to try his Poison Point ability again. Oh, well. He lowered his head, glaring at Fyren. This was a Leer, to lower his defense stat. Nidoran then charged speedily towards the Fire type in another Peck, hoping that this one would land a proper hit, since frustratingly he hadn't actually got one in yet.

Thunk!
The Nidoran's horn plunged into a tree trunk as Fyren jerked to the side, instinctively dodging the attack, as his Defense stat was now dangerously low. "Howl," Blade ordered, "Then Ember again!"
Fyren howled, the bone-chilling noise splitting the air and making even Zigz shudder. Then he blasted out a spray of red-hot sparks.
Zigz scampered over to the unconcious poocheyena, and nudged him with her snout. "Hey," she said, "You alright? Can you move?"

ooc// Poochyena isn't unconcious, and also you seem to be avoiding being hit. You have to be hit at some point, but seriously, one hit won't make your Pokémon faint. It'll take like four or five hits to make a Pokémon faint, so don't be boring and let the opponents have a go and hitting, or they'll all end up like Poochyena's battle. Sorry for having a moan.
ic// Nidoran screeched in annoyance as, yet again, he failed to hit. What was with him this battle? He was starting to feel kinda worthless, like there was no point in fighting in this battle or any battle because he would never win. But this battle... it was just, quite frankly, boring. Where was the fun in something if he could never get a hit in? They wouldn't show battles on TV if only one trainer ever landed attacks. The Poison type was hit by about half the Ember, which only made him more angry.
He was a little clouded with rage, so he reminded himself that he needed to stay calm, taking a few deep breaths before he attacked again. He charged at Fyren in another Peck. It was just as powerful in the others, but Nidoran was loosing faith in himself and the battle, starting to think he was pretty useless.

Fyren didn't see this coming, and took the attack in the shoulder, yelping as the beak cut a nasty gash.
"Can you hear me?" Zigz asked, nudging the Poocheyena again, "Are you OK?"
Blade winced. That had been a bad hit. "Fyren," he said, "You OK?" "Can't take many hits like that," Fyren gasped, "And... I'm running... out of breath." "Then use Leer, then Ember," Blade ordered, and Fyren obeyed, although the Leer was not quite as effective as the last one. The Ember was more focussed than last time, but also less powerful overall.

Poochyena looked very confused as he looked at Zigz. ~I'm fine, should I not be?~ he asked, puzzled. Meanwhile, Nidoran smiled. Thank goodness, he'd finally landed a hit. Of course, he'd only hit Fyren once, whereas he himself had been hit a few more times than that. It would take a number of hits to take any Pokémon out, and he had only got one in so far, something which was not a good thing. He might still be able to turn this around, though, right?
The Leer, accompanied by all the Howls, made the Ember a stronger hit. However, it seemed the Leer and the Ember were both not as strong as they could be, something Nidoran was relieved about. He tried to dodge the Ember, but since it was more focused it managed to score a hit against him. The Poison type whined; the battle was really getting to him, now, and he didn't feel like he could hang in much longer. Still, he must attack through the pain, or he stood no chance of winning! He darted forwards, hoping for another Peck attack.

Fyren yelped as the Nidoran's sharp beak slammed into his paw, forcing him to jump backwards. "Yow!" he yelled, limping. "Fyren!" Blade yelled, his heart constricting; despite having had the Houndour for only a few hours, he was already attached to the guy.
"You kinda took a bad hit," Zigz said, ruffling her fur. She looked more embarrassed than frightened.
Blade slammed his hand into a tree, leaving a dent in the bark... and then rock-hard nuts started raining down on all of them. "Argh!" Blade exclaimed, covering his head, "Fyren, just use Ember again!" Fyren obeyed instantly, blasting out the familiar spray of superheated sparks. A few were picked off by the falling nuts, but most of them went unhindered...
(OOC* the nuts are just for flavor, really. They probably won't do anything to the battle.)

Poochyena giggled. Zigz seemed to be worried for him. He smiled, playfully batting her with his muzzle. ~No worries.~ he told her, grinning. The Zigzagoon looked kinda cute when she was embarrased. Come to think of it, she was kind cute full stop.
Meanwhile, Nidoran could see that that hit had been the best one of the battle so far. Fyren had slammed into a tree so hard nuts had actually been knocked off their branches. He smiled, pleased with this acomplishment. The Poison type was feeling quite weak too, mind; and now the Houndour was attacking again. It was clear that this move would decide the entire battle; if Nidoran was hit, Fyren would win. If Nidoran wasn't hit, he would be able to hit Fyren back and win.
So, which way would the battle turn? Nidoran frowned in concentration, knowing how necessary it was to him to avoid this move. He attempted to move out the way, but his eyes widened as he felt the heat of flames on his tummy. He'd... he'd been hit. That meant that the battle was over, didn't it? He'd lost. He fell to the ground, a defeated expression on his face. He struggled to try and get back up again, but didn't manage it, fainting.
Nidoran M was defeated! Fyren gains a level!

Blade hurled another Pokeball, which bounced off the Nidoran. It had only been a glancing hit, but enough to activate the Pokeball. The Nidoran vanished inside, and the ball started wobbling from side to side.
Zigz couldn't help giggling, wagging her tail. She noticed that the battle was over, and started drifting back towards her trainer.

Poochyena wagged his tail too, trotting over to sit beside Zigz. He looked between her and her trainer... well, he would like to spend a bit more time with Zigz. ~Blade? Might I please travel with you for a bit? Not in a Pokéball or anything, just following.~ he asked. Meanwhile, Nidoran had been drawn inside the Pokéball. He grunted in anger at this, and began charging about. It wasn't that he didn't like Blade or the idea of having a trainer, it was mostly for the sake of his pride. The Poison type wasn't strong enough, however, and soon wore himself out just randomly charging about. He sank back into his slumber, and the Pokéball clicked to announce his capture. Nidoran M was caught!Name:Species: Nidoran M Gender: Male Level: 6 Ability: Poison Point- The opponent has a 30% chance of being induced with POISON when using an attack, that requires physical contact, against this Pokémon. Blade shrugged. "Why not?" he replied, showing a slight, knowing smile, but only to Fyren, who, not sure what was going on, just looked at Zigz and her new-found friend, "Just make sure not to get in our way during a battle." Zigz was rooting around in the dirt, and she seemed to find something. She picked it up, and carried it over to Blade, who accepted it, smiling at her appreciatively.
(OOC* I'm activating Zigz' Pickup ability here. In-game it means that the Zigzagoon will sometimes pick up random items as you walk around. It's up to you what she just found.)
