Mario was walking besides Selena as he smiled softly, looking at his pokeball as he smiled. Aero..., Mario thought to himself as he looked at his pokeball. Mario..., what are you thinking about? she asked as she glanced at Mario.
His name..., Aero. That's his name, Mario looked at her as he smiled softly to himself. Really? Well that's original of you, she giggled softly to herself and smiled as she looked at the horizon. Well..., I guess that we should try and catch another pokemon so that I can atleast make both of them equal before the first gym, he told her as he grinned softly to himself and placed his pokeball on his belt as he chuckled softly to himself as they continued to walk.

Since it was winter, with snow all about, Pokémon were pretty scarse. Some Pokémon, however, were still out and about. One was quite enjoying itself, despite not being an Ice type who it had seen frolicing about. No, it loved a good chill, and the fact that the clouds obscured the sun most of the time- take right now for example. The Pokémon moved along quite silently, until it spied a trainer and his daemon. It heard them converse. So, they were called Mario and Selena.
The Pokémon slipped out of the shadows, floating into view. A Shuppet, a Ghost type. Its large eyes bore into Mario's, unblinking. A little creepy, to be honest. ~Greetings, I am Shuppet. What are you up to on this wonderfully icy day?~ it asked in a tone which left whether it was friendly or not unknown.

Selena smiled as she looked at Shuppet. "Ofcourse we are just looking for other pokemons to battle Shuppet," she told Shuppet as she smiled to herself. Mario just looked at it and smiled to himself. "So Shuppet, want to make things interesting? A battle perhaps?" he offered Shuppet as he called out Aero as Aero looked at Shuppet, calmly, as he kept the silence within him. "Well Aero, let's see how you do on your first battle," Mario told him as he smiled, waiting to see what was Shuppet's response.

Shuppet though about that. A battle? His possible opponent seemed to have already decided on what Pokémon he would use. A Farfetch'd, apparently going by the name of Aero. Well, what would Shuppet get out of a battle, anyway? It would be able to see pain, be mischeavous as it wanted, surprise the trainer and Pokémon with its attacks. It would be able to gain levels, but if it lost the trainer might catch it... maybe that wouldn't be so bad.
At any rate, a battle was always a good thing. The Ghost type liked fighting, and this would be a great oppertunity; it could strike a first blow while Aero and Mario thought it was still deciding. Yes, that would be good, but it would have to strike quickly or they would have just enough time to react. Knowing this, Shuppet rushed at Aero in a quick Knock-Off attack.

Mario and Aero thought that Shuppet was still deciding until Selena noticed something weird. ~Mario..., tell Aero to dodge and use Night Slash,~ she told him as he nodded, not sure on that she was planning but complied with it anyways. "Aero, dodge and use Night Slash!" Mario told Aero as he nodded, waiting for Shuppet to be close to him as he waited.
At the right moment, he dodged Shuppet's attack and when Shuppet wasn't suspecting, he used Night Slash on it, an egg move that Aero has learned. "You know Shuppet, I really don't like surprises, especially if we're going to commence a battle," Aero muttered to Shuppet after dealing him with Night Slash as Selena and Mario looked at Shuppet, with the same reaction that Aero has.

Shuppet scowled as Aero dodged the Knock Off. Dodge its attack would, he? Well, two could play at that game! Shuppet floated a little higher as the Night Slash came closer, dodging the attack, but just barely. Phew, thank goodness! Night Slash was a Dark type move, and so would have been super effective had it hit. Thankfully, it hadn't. Shuppet had a moment in which it acted a bit like a child, sticking its toungue out at Aero mockingly.
All that aside, Shuppet had a problem. Night Slash was a reasonably powerful attack, but it didn't know any decent moves. Night Shade was a Ghost type move, so it wouldn't have any effect on Aero. Knock Off wasn't very powerful. Because of this, Shuppet needed to lower Aero's defense. It opened its mouth wide and let out a horrible sound; Screech. This would seriously lower Aero's defense.

Mario looked at Aero as he irked a bit from the screech, noticing that his defense had lowered from the screech as Mario sighed deeply. "Alright Aero, let's see what we can improvise from your defense being lowered..., use poison jab," Mario told Aero as he nodded and jumped to Shuppet, his stick glowing purple as he readied for a poison jab attack.
He gave Shuppet a tiny smirk as he chuckled softly to himself. ~I'm impressed, I wonder if we are going to have some more of this if my leader plans on capturing you,~ Aero told Shuppet as he grinned in a joking manner as he delivered the jab on Shuppet.

Shuppet found it harder to dodge this time, since Aero was moving faster. The Poison Jab managed to hit sucessfully, and the Ghost type snarled in pain. Poison Jab was a strong attack, but luckily, being a Ghost type meant it wasn't very effective on the puppet Pokémon. It smiled. ~You have got to remember your types, my friend.~ it reminded Aero, nodding. It didn't seem to be poisoned, either... phew, what luck.
Shuppet was then ready with its own attack, another Knock Off. Hopefully, this time it would deal a fair bit more damage than the usual weak pain it would give thanks to the Screech it had performed earlier. The ghost drifted closer rather fast, starting off reasonably near to Aero because of the Poison Jab. The Knock Off was almost upon the Farfetch'd.

Aero nodded as he was hit with the Knock-Off attack as he slidded back and placed his stick on the ground as he sighed softly to himself. "Alright Aero, charge towards Shuppet and use Night Slash on it again, let's see if we can hit it again," Mario told his Farfetch'd and Aero charged towards Shuppet, getting his attack ready as he smiled softly with determination, wanting to win this battle but at the same time give Shuppet more challenge as he was already close to it, readying his attack and smiled devilishly to Shuppet.
~Come on...~ Selena thought to himself as she looked at Aero, wondering how will the aftermath be once the attack happened.

This time, Aero's Night Slash was too fast for Shuppet. The Ghost type groaned in pain as the super effective hit struck it, causing it to tumble to the ground. Urgh... maybe the Farfetch'd knew his types after all. The Shuppet drifted back up again, blinking to refocus its eyes as it caught its breath. ~OK... maybe you should forget your types.~ the puppet panted.
Eventually, it managed to feel strong enough to attack again, although it had still taken a pretty serious hit and taken a lot of damage. Shuppet would keep going; it would be more honourable to fight right to the end, whether or not it won or not. It would not be made a coward. The Pokémon shot at Aero in another Knock Off, hoping to hit hard and hurt the annoying little bird.

"Aero, get hit with the attack and use Poison Jab again to poison Shuppet," Mario told Aero as he nodded, dealing the hit as he slid back a bit and took a deep breath. ~Sometimes, the types that aren't that effective can be painful to others,~ Aero told Shuppet as he charged towards it, preparing a Poison Jab attack as he lunged his stick at Shuppet as he smiled softly to himself, feeling loads of confidence in his mind and soul.

Shuppet knew that, although it wouldn't hurt very much, there was a chance that Poison Jab would poison her. She didn't really want to take the risk, even if there was only a 30% chance of that happening. Better safe than sorry, right? The Ghost type attempted to dodge, but the attack just struck her horn as she darted away. She felt a little sick... not enough to be called poisoned, but it was unpleasant none the less. It also meant Shuppet would be poisoned easier.
Shuppet knew this, and so aimed to dodge any more Poison Jabs or any other Poison type attacks at all. She floated a little higher, fixing her Flying type target in her eyes, trying her best to ignore the uncomfortable ill feeling of near poison. She started to dive down in a Knock Off attack. Only too late did she realise that if Aero took the hit, he would be able to hit Shuppet back without any chance of her dodging. Oops. Well, maybe Aero would dodge... Shuppet could only hope.

Mario looked at Aero as he smiled softly to himself. ~Plan?~ Selena asked as Mario nodded. "Aero, use Night Slash as soon as Shuppet hits you," Mario told Aero as he nodded.
Aero let the Knock-off hit him as he slid back as usual and charged towards Shuppet with a Night Slash attack as he smiled. ~Good match Shuppet but it seems that I got the upper hand,~ Aero told her as he dealt the blow on her as he looked at her solemnly.

Shuppet watched Aero speak. Phew, he sure did like to talk, didn't he? There wasn't really too much point in that. Also, Aero seemed to think that his move would end the battle. Why was he acting like that, though? What happened to the saying 'don't count your chickens before they've hatched'? She could see before she'd hit Aero that he was starting to attack, and so attempted to dodge. However, it was too late; she had landed a hit, but so had Aero.
Shuppet was feeling quite weak now- probably just another attack to go- but at least that hadn't been a Poison Jab. Because last turn she had been made easier to poison. she had been sure that if the attack had been a Poison Jab, she would have been poisoned. Well, it hadn't, and she wasn't. The Ghost type knew that since she was weakening, Aero would be too, and so had a little spirit left as she charged the Farfetch'd in a Knock Off.

"Alright Aero, get hit again with Knock-Off and use Poison Jab one more time," Mario told Aero as he nodded softly to himself, getting hit with Shuppet's attack again and charged at it again, using Poison Jab to see if Shuppet would get poisoned again.
~Mario..., are you planning on capturing her?~ Selena asked Mario. "That Selena, will be a yes. Shuppet provided Aero with an excellent challenge and having a good fight," Mario told her and smiled as he glanced at her and back at Aero. ~So..., what will you be naming her?~ she asked Mario curiously. "I really don't know..., if it would've been a guy, its name would be Phantom but since its a gal..., it's hard to figure out a name relating to ghost-type..." ~What about Illuminis or Fantasma?~ She suggested to Mario. "Hmm..., these are excelent names so..., Fantasma," Mario told her and smiled as Aero finally dealt the Poison Jab at Shuppet.
